seeing the fight animated like this makes me realize that the reason Surge lost mainly came down to the difference in experience she spends most of the fight chasing Sonic and eating hard counters
It’s not just down to experience but it’s also down to straight power as well she never had a chance to begin with it’s the same reason why most young fighters like her not only would lose but would still be in that challenger level if sonic probably wasn’t like playing somewhat of a good defense as well as not holding back as much not only would she not be able to tag him she should not be able to really hurt him either but considering she probably did have some level of potential to get a few good hits and it’s not enough to basically put her up there a monks the rest of the heavy hitters of the verse

This puts her high on the list, but seeing as Sonic's friends list has a greater quantity and quality of powerful fighters, while she's a top 10 Sonic foe in IDW (which includes a lot of games) she's not even close to being a top 10 in the verse. Silver, Blaze, and Shadow would all wipe the flood with her and likely show a LOT less mercy, Knuckles would certainly score a win against her as well because she's predictable, and even the Chaotics are nearing her level... Yeah her arrogance is kinda pathetic when you realize she's trying to replace the guy who stands toe to toe with demi-gods all because he can run fast and pretty much nothing else, no lighting, fire, gravity beams, etc. Also kinda sad that the Sonic Rogues gallery is so empty compared to his friends list, even Mario has a better foe-to-friend ratio for doing these sort of comparisons and for story telling...if the plumber wasn't himself such a difficult main character to make stories with.
This animation brought so much sass that Sonic has been missing into this fight. It might be a bit more than I like, but just having it is really nice to see.

It's almost a shame no animation studio has thought to adapt the sonic IDW comics. Heard the comic series has been stagnant in sales for a while, think it would benefit from an animated series promoting the source material. This is really good tho, keep it up
Well that’s the biggest problem no one wants to stick to any form of source material because they don’t want to be chained down to actually committing to a story they did not write because when it comes to most bigwig companies and a bunch of their sensitivity readers and hat writers they would much rather tell whatever story they want and if we’re not talking about those types of people then they’re just gonna wanna create something new anyways just for the sake of it

Surge's whole deal is that she was a teenager kidnapped by a mad scientist with an obsession with Eggman and he brainwashed her and enhanced her with cybernetics to make Surge the ultimate Sonic killing machine and eventual replacement. Surge eventually found out about all the brainwashing and surgeries among other horrible things done to her and her response can be summed up as "screw Sonic, screw Eggman, screw everybody!"
