I've never had curry, or marmite.....very interesting.... Our sammies as kids were very basic ..coming from a not wealthy rural area: peanut butter on white bread, and mayonnaise sandwiches.
Good recipe, Marie. As an Englishman I can tell you that Coronation chicken - which was invented for the coronation, in 1953, of the late HM Queen Elizabeth II - would not have had any rocket on it. It would have had the much tastier and far more nutritious watercress. Rocket, thankfully, was not widely available in 1953.👍🏻

That’s what we want to see not a professional with camera crews, makeup etc. A lady from south Alabama where I’m from started doing a blog to show her young church members how to make biscuits, dumplings and real southern food- lots of ya’lls , mistakes, laughs, even tours of her yard, visits from family and friends. I still watch her but love what you do too. Two of my favorite places on earth are England and Alabama and ya’ll are my favorite cooks. In my coronation chicken, I use Greek yogurt and a few nuts, otherwise just the same as yours.

This reminds me of a song, I think by Fried Penner "Sandwiches are beautiful, sandwiches are fine, I love sandwiches, I eat them all the time, I eat them for my dinner, and I eat them for lunch, if I had a 100 sandwiches I'd eat them all at once." Used to be a favourite sone to sing with kids. It is probably on youtube somewhere and you can hear the tune. Cheese and pickle sandwich, reminds me of a plowman's lunch. Hi Marie, just came across your video and I've really enjoyed it, I'm in the UK and yep we definitely like our sarnies here! lol They're such a good way to have something quick when you're in a rush or just can't be bothered cooking. Mine are usually accompanied by a bag of crisps and the crisps usually end up on the sarny as well, is that something you guys do? I can't do sweet with savoury so Coronation chicken etc is a no no for me, I know lots of people love it but I just can't eat fruit with meat etc. Anyway I'll stop waffling on and have a look at another of your vids. I've read about cheese and pickle sandwiches in books and always wondered what the "pickle" was. Do you have any recommendations for substitutions for those of us in the States? Enjoying your new videos!
I don't think there is a pickle that really compares to Branston in the States, but you could probably use Piccali, or sweet mustard relish. I think both of those would be good. What you want is a crunchy pickle relish that is a bit sharp, a bit spicy and a bit sweet, but not overly so, if you know what I mean! I hope this helps! And thank you! xo
