Orser could have been a ballet dancer. He really interprets the music, doesn't just wave his arms a bit and do the jumps like so many men skaters. So moving, this one brings tears to my eyes.
I spent my youth doing (mostly) two things...training as a figure skater, and listening to my parents play Neil Diamond. In 1989, I won two golds at sectionals and was on my way to Nationals when my career ended. An accident left my knee shattered. I've since become a successful attorney, so I have few regrets. BUT, Mr. Orser got to live the dream, and watching him say thank you to the song my parents used at their 50th Anniversary is awesome. I'm going to watch it again right now.
That was Skating Free filmed in Lake Louise Alberta Canada...I was there in the audience during the filming of the Glass Tiger song and I saw the filming of the Lion Sleeps Tonight portion...I worked in Lake Louise at that time. Was fun!!
Life on Ice, you gave me so many thrills, and you are a gentleman, meeting you was a joy I will treasure, i just hope you know the happiness and thrills you brought to so many of us.
He performed this at the Sears Open. a pro + amature competition taking home first. it was an incredible performance. i was looking for it online. same routine. incredible. starts with the simple figure 8's he started his skating career with, and works his way through his life. absolutely amazing.
Lake Louise, Alberta CANADA is so beautiful in all its glory here. Beautiful performance. One of my favourites ever. ❤️

He is the best for ever and this Performance is unforgettable.
J'adore! J'ai travaillé deux ans au Lake Louise!!!!!!
Mesmerizing and touching! Wonderful!
Nothing like skatin' on a pond.....and this one's a doooozey! Olympic Champion if ever there was one!
This clip is indeed from Brian's first CBC special, "Skating Free." A classic!
Wonderful !
hey great vid loved Lake Louise when i stayed there
I just want to highlight the difficulty in doing a 3a-2t on ice that is not particulary plain, and which probably has suboptimal hardness.
What a scenic setting. It's harder to skate on frozen lakes outside than in the usual rink setting. Good skating and interpretation in this routine.
great!!!! the end is so cool))))
Яркий, красивый, чудо!!!!! Сказка!!!!

Actually that was a completely different song, "Somewhere in Time," the theme from the film with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.
