    20 months and it still looks that black. That’s an amazing products. Nothing seems to last more than a couple of rainstorms or washes.

      Its like a thick hard shell in an hour. Very tricky to apply perfectly honestly but yes gives a nice wet look instantly if you degrease properly. Ill see how long this lasts in the salt winter.

    Finally, someone who may be able to help me. On one side of my car where it got afternoon sun through a window when garaged, the plastic trim between the doors is extremely faded. Your video is the only one i have found that gets great results on the door trims. This looks like it WILL work, even if i have to apply 2-3 coats. Any thoughts, on seeing what you have been able to achieve i finally think i have seen a product that will achieve a good finish. Thanks.

    I agree with your results.. I applied Cerakote to the wifes Highlander.. After 4 months and weekly washes it still looks great. If it faded tomorrow I would still feel satisfied . Super easy product to use too. I was using stoners trim shine it always looked great but never really lasted...

    I guess maybe I was dumb. I looked at the Rustoleum trim restorer. It seemed to be a similar product and I thought it had the Rustoleum brand so its probably ok. Came with prep wipes and application wipes. It was certainly a waste of money and time for me. It looked bad within a few days. I am going to try the Cerakote and I'll let you know if it works better for me. Thanks.

    • @cryptofan6255
      @cryptofan6255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too. I had terrible streaking and staining from those prep pads. BTW, called them and they are supposed to be refunding my money. Have you tried going over it with Ceracoat and how did it look. Tried removing my Rustoleum issues with denatured alcohol and it didn't help a bit. I'm afraid if I go over it with the Ceracoat I'm just going to lock in the streaking and swirling for two years.

      @@johnslesinger7109 It's such bullshit. When I called the woman in customer service she was like, "Did you rinse off that pre-wipe really well before applying the finish coat?" I was like, "Uhhh...no I didn't, nor did your instructions call for it." Such BS, sadly, there's nothing that can be done. I would love to have them replace my bumper, my grill, and one mirror. In the product's defence, one mirror came out well. :)

      @@cryptofan6255 I never even bothered calling rustoleum. I followed the directions perfectly. I barely had enough product. It looked good for about 3 days, then started looking like it was dusty with all kinds of swipe marks. Lesson learned I guess. I'm going to try the cerakote sometime. Been using CoverAll. Lasts for months but the overspray is terrible.

  • @indiggioman
    @indiggioman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the update! I too have a 2014 Subaru Outback and have been looking at the various products to restore the trim, so based on your video, I'm going to give it a try.
    Also, since I too live in Eastern PA, the other extreme problem I have with the Outback are the water spotting on the windows. I have tried everything from the simple vinegar, etc. to actually glass polishing the windows and still the spots remain. After polishing and sealing, water just slides right off, but the spots are still obvious and very unsightly.
    Do you have similar spot issues on your car? Have you tried/found anything that'll remove the spots?

  • @88nghtshd

    Hi Chelsea, this seems like the best product for the plastic trim in my research but a handful of the reviews are bad when it doesnt apply right and becomes streaky, spotted and removal can be a pain. Have you experienced this or is it something more common on older more weathered trim vs new trim? It wouldnt be the first time Ive heard ceramic not coming out right on plastic trim. A little afraid to use it because of this.

      I would start first with a polish and see if that removes it. If that doesn’t you might need to step it up to a compound and possibly even wet sanding then compound and polish. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, I would reach out to a professional detailer who would have the skills to know how to handle That.

  • @icehog2367

    Absolutely don't use Cerakote products on your trim if the car is evenly remotely new. They won't tell you this, which is appalling, but it'll wreck trim on a new car. The off gassing will push the coating away from the surface and can't be fixed. There should be a class action lawsuit against the company, no questions asked.
