Lovely gertie i cant thank you enough for this vudeo tutorial- im such a visual learner that reading instructions alone makes my brain HURT, im in love w this dress cant wait to get sewing ❤❤
Just finished this dress after taking a haitus from sewing for many years. This video made it so easy to make a beautiful and professional dress. I learned about so many new sewing techniques. I cannot wait to make more Maria dresses! :D
I just purchased your Maria dress, perfectly named for me, lol, I found your instructions to be phenomenal and seems very easy to follow. I will give this a try!! Thank you so much!
Congratulations for thw new pattern! I have missed seeing you do tutorials. You are such a good teacher. I wish we had gotten to aee that dress on you. I think this pattern os going on my Christmas wish list.
I'm working on my first Maria Dress!!! I really enjoyed you showing the skirt pleats which i usually have trouble with! This is the perfect video for beginners!!
Thank you so much for this video!! This is the first dress I've ever made (new to sewing here) and I found it so easy to follow, and was able to set in my first sleeves ever with no errors!! I did need to keep an eye on the video for the extra seger finished pieces not mentioned but I'm sure if I followed the written instruction it would all be there! Excited to make more of this gorgeous dress and more confident to try the Rizzo jacket and Barbie bodice now! Thank you again
I enjoyed this video. Your teaching method is very easy to follow along with you, clear and precise. I have a problem choosing materials for my patterns and fitting also. Plese list the actual material used for this dress. Great flow for this dress. Thanks for this tutorial. Have a blessed day.
I totally love this tutorial. The only cc is the sudden stop in the instructions or mention of the collar. Now I can make the collar but not sure how to insert it.
My daughter named her 104 Nathan after one of her cousins. They rereleased a ballerina costume that we got and I also picked up the bity baby for the 18” dolls.
I just finished sewing mine, made a wearable muslin that I am happy-ish with before I go on to use my fancy fabric. Have you ever made videos about how to do typical adjustments to your patterns? I am finding that my bodice is too big even though the pattern measurements seemed perfect and I was diligent in making sure I did 5/8" seams as I've made that mistake before.
Gertie, how much were you holding back a laugh when you said “just the tip” on the belt segment? 😂 I’m forever laughing at the boning portion of the Lamour tutorial when you address the elephant in the room. Making this dress this week for Thanksgiving!
Lovely tutorial! I'm not a beginner, but I learned a few things from this tutorial and I appreciate that! Is your Bernina a 1090, that's what I have and when you were sewing I kept thinking it looked just like mine! Thanks for the lessons!
Charm patterns, buy pdf it comes with the at home tiled prints you'll have to tape together, or download the A0 version and take it to your preferred copyshop to print it on large rolls of paper I use the shop spool and spindle because I am Canadian but there are lots out there worldwide :]
Do you sell a pre printed pattern. The cup size sold me. But I only have a basic phone. I've sewn for decades, but I stopped using tech after a Parkinson's diagnosis. I hope I get some type of reply. I could ask my service dog to attempt a PDF file, but I'd end up with a doggie bed pattern and not a dress.
Great pattern, but this really shouldnt be worn by someone without a waist (i.e. boxy), or one could wear a corset and be trussed like a Thanksgiving turkey!
Glad to see you back.
I like how thorough your tutorials are. It removes so many questions and so much guesswork.
Such a good tutorial this is. After returning to home sewing after 30 years, you are brining so much to mind that I no longer remembered.

What an excellent tutorial. The hardest bit is trimming and clipping the seams. You're so confident! 🙂

I would like to make a dress like this and I am a plus size dress. I would like to learn how to increase the size of a dress pattern
This pattern goes up to 34 cups sizes A -H. Maybe you won't have to grade up.
This dress comes in a very wide range of sizes and different cup sizes. I’m about to make it in a holiday print.
Do you have a Maria dress with an inner lining bodice options? Love to make one with a bodice lining ❤❤❤
So happy!!!!! Will there ever be one for the Turner cardigan? I'm having problems with the finishing and the instructions are unclear.
Same!!!

Can you sew these garments without an overlocker?
Do you sell the fabric that you are using in this video?
Do you ever make wide legged pants or jeàns
Is there a pattern revise for the sleeveless version of the Maria?
The pattern is not drafted to be sleeveless but you could draft your own facings if you wanted to create a version.
Great zipper tutorial. Thank you.
I love this! Are the instructions available in metric system ❤? Inches are gibberish for me 😅
the pattern instructions definitely have metric on it too. happy sewing
Where and how do I buy the pattern? I love all the sleeve styles but I think I would like to make the lantern sleeve first.
The pattern is available for purchase here charmpatterns.com/shop/maria-dress/

Good morning from Greece I would appreciate if you can translate in Greek as I Am a fan of the fifties

Unfortunately the patterns are only available as PDF's
Do you know of pattern companies which sell a similar pattern, printed?
@@jobellecollie7139 Sorry no, I haven't been keeping up with what Butterick, Simplicity and Vogue have been putting out for a number of years.
Hi Gertie, I’ve been trying to join your Patreon but there is an issue with joining. Keeps saying it can’t I’d me now try again later.
Beautiful, but wished you used lighter thread on zipper. Next zipper will be the fold over. Thank you.
The thumbnail looks like it is right out of the movie THE HELP.
please model the finished dresses you make--we want to see them in their entirety. :)
Gertie! And where have you been, young lady!?
xXX👍👍👍
Damn. $22.00 for a pdf pattern? Get that bag, girl. Good instructional video though.
I believe dupion is simply slubby lower cost silk. Many silks have different warps and wefts, this doesn't make it dupioni
Great pattern, but this really shouldnt be worn by someone without a waist (i.e. boxy), or one could wear a corset and be trussed like a Thanksgiving turkey!
What if you don't have a serger?
