This is going to be epic! Can't wait to see how AI stacks up against a seasoned architect

    LOL: Mistakes
    1. That software/AI is just going to get better and better and cheaper and cheaper in the next years/decades…
…While that human is just going to get older and older…
    2. What is the price comparison….for consulting and buying the plans?
@1:05 never design a closet on the outside edge…..that takes away from valuable surface- space that can be better used as a view to outside. At-most only have part of a closet with a window view , the rest of the closet in between rooms….
    3. Never design stair-well in a house in the middle of a house….it becomes dark and un-inviting…
Much better to design a stair-well (at least partly) on the outer edge…so that it can receive natural light ….it’s just great to hang out on the stairs , where you can see the outside…see what/who guests is coming ..
    4. You just (partially) ruined the outside-view and the natural light of your kitchen… ~50% of the time is spent in the kitchen…
Atleast have part of the kitchen have a window “completely” to the outside. (And not just to a view to a covered patio)…
    5. That laundry room is a complete waste of valuable view space. Have atleast one side of the laundry room be the kitchen/etc…
@3:00 For a large garage, it’s better to make it “L” shaped because the middle part can be a lounge area to admire the cars and that is safe from the (metaphoric) flow of traffic…
The free- space that you have it now is in between two lanes of traffic…very unattractive, very unsafe-feeling for hanging out..
    7. For a house that big, you need to have atleast one upstairs balcony …
    8. Living room ceilings needs to be atleast 1.5x in height…
    9. Never have the living room/ kitchen directly face a bathroom door….
    10. Never have a dining table right next to stairs…
    Overall grade: C+

We don't disagree with most of what you're saying! Those points you brought up are often fixed through revisions, but since the challenge was to draft up a floor plan in less than 4 minutes there wasn't any time to get it all 'right' on the first pass. All things considered, we'll gladly take a C+ for this one!

It would be interesting to see your drawing rendered like the AI's, to get a better idea of what your house would look like exterior-wise. I actually like the AI house, it reminds me of mid-century modern houses like Twin Palms (formerly owned by Sinatra).

Do architects sketch with HVAC and building codes in mind? I figured if If they love the layout with no major gaps you can rearrange toilet closets and windows without changing the structure.

Every architect is a little different! We design with HVAC and codes in mind because it allows us to find efficiencies for our clients. HVAC placement dictates the way you can stack the structure, and (depending on the what the client wants) you can minimize the ductwork and lower the cost per square foot. To your point, it's not uncommon for clients to see their home under construction and want to make modifications. There are a a few factors that decide if those changes are feasible, HVAC and codes being some of them.

Very cool. AI isn't there yet. But holy smokes, it has potential if it keeps learning. We will all be without work!

@@visbeenarchitectsinc I look it at is similar to DOS 2.1 if you are that old. Just the crude stages of this technology. Ultimately it boils down to who utilizes the technology effectively, that is the great disconnect today. Too much Tech for Tech Sake, not efficiency sake.

Architects should be banned from using regular mathematical shapes (squares, othe squares, more squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, ovals, hexagons, pentagrams, ...you get it).
You already understand that all of those go through the squarehole when you`re less than 1 year old. (it`s not a proof of skill or knowledge after 25-30 years of growing up and studying on Earth)
Also architects should be banned from using natural shapes since there are too many examples in nature to fall back on, therefore it counts as cheating.

    • @visbeenarchitectsinc
      @visbeenarchitectsinc  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Do you have any examples of architects who've designed something without regular mathematical shapes? We'd be fascinated to see what that looks like.

@@visbeenarchitectsinc I`m fascinated why you didn`t say, "or natural shapes." (like that`s not even considered remotely possible anymore.) Or say that`s not possible because i included all potential shapes.
The point i was making is that humanity got further than just drawing squares in 6000 years of architecture. Yet you start drawing 4 squares.
Yes you are somewhat bound for practical reasons to make neatly combinable/stackable shapes.
But somehow since WW2 there has been a "movement" of sorts that rudimentary shapes are the only thing possible.
And now you "verify" an AI on the basis of our current lowest common demoninated shape (square) "movement" whether it "knows/understands" architecture.
Maybe the AI perfectly understands Gaudi, and doesn`t really understand why everything should be square, which would perfectly prove it`s intelligence.
btw Farms are oftenly in that middle area.

We said regular mathematical shapes because that what you brought up and were interested in seeing examples of your first statement.

@@visbeenarchitectsinc I`ve already answered this question.
I brought up more than just that statement.
Maybe you need to think outside the square to understand my answer.
btw My favorite architect is probably Berlage, who kept things relatively efficiently costing while making everything look not so square/same at the same time. (Gaudi+FLW for the masses)
