I love the concept of a mute listener who communicates using sign language. Would be hilarious if she has just as dirty fingers as the Carnie's mouth is. Flipping him off behind his back in front of a crowd and all that.
I like picturing him trying to talk to her and she just either signs in constant swears or gives him the bird. Either that, or her silently cursing violently at him
