I know you've been educated a little bit on the ammuniton terminology now. But I will say the thought of firing an 18mm from a handgun gave me a good chuckle. That size of round would be close to that used to take out aircraft, tanks, etc.
The only problem with that is if you accidentally hit the key when trying to switch weapons. I was in the middle of taking out some bandits and I ran out of ammo, so I tried to switch to my side arm and I started bandaging up and got killed.
So it’s 9 x 18 mm which is the Russian equivalent of a nine mm as far as I understand it the US and most of NATO uses a 9 x 19 mm both are handgun or SMG rounds
Yep. The casing is roughly one millimeter shorter on a 9mm Makarov than a 9mm Parabellum/Luger. The bullet is also a very marginally larger diameter on the 9x18, but we're talking like a quarter of a millimeter, so they both still qualify as a 9mm.

I promise I did try pressing Y haha. The 45 acp bullets were too dang big!

The only caveat though is both of those are Russian calibers which is slightly different from what most of the world uses with NATO cartridges
