"You owe $35."
"Did you put it on the show card?"
"I don't have a show card..."
"Fantastic."
I swear Conan's inner Mr. Burns came out on that Fantastic.
Excellent!
I wonder how many Burns' jokes he wrote on The Simpsons.
@@THETRIVIALTHINGS he once said in an interview during the change over from NBC to TBS that his ideal life would be living on a small deserted island while he gets paid 2 dollars for every absurd line he could come up with for Mr. Burns to say on The Simpsons.
😂😂😂😂
Good call.
I want more Conan & Fifi adventures.
You know what it is... Conan simply entertains... he isn't like all these other people that think they are trying to save the world or something or are trying to get some sly take on a subject... he just entertains, he is curious like a kid, doesn't take himself to seriously, lets his guests shine and just has fun... and that's why Conan is the King in these spaces he enters into and is able to keep reinventing himself and having success on all levels....
Mr. Archuleta9905, you just get it.
Because perfumes, unlike soaps / scented candles (most of those anyway) have a mix of multiple scents, and in layers (called top, middle and base, usually either indicating volume or strength)
That's why perfumes will have an opening scent that might be verrrrry different from what it smells like after a while (usually called opening and drydown)
Because Joop is a very strong perfume, its opening is likely only the strong flowery scents (aka notes) you are smelling, and the drydown will change to the rest of it, i.e: different orange-ish scents, Tobacco, Vetiver, and Patchouli - very manly and likely what you smelt on Tracy
Yes! Let's up this comment so that Conan and the chums could see it! We don't want them being put off from wearing fragrances because of a harsh opening. 😂
Do we really need cologne? I mean body wash, lotions, hair gels, deodorant. By the time we leave the house we got about 5 fragances on us already.
@@montufaraj7066 don't wear scented lotion. The fragrances are usually bad for the skin.
Wow - never knew this. Thank you for demystifying scent construction!

I need to know what Liza thought.
Me too!! If someone knows, please comment.
They discuss it at the end of the Bryan Cranston episode! Won't spoil it.
@@Crashernokthank you!
@@Crashernok 2 months late but is this the first or second Bryan episode? A timestamp/rough estimate would be great too!
@@_burd. went back and listened. It's at about 1 Hr 13 min into the Jan 8 episode w/Bryan Cranston (7 minutes left in the ep). The whole episode is great of course, highly recommend.
I’m a girl and when I was little I was given a bottle of Joop. It’s the only perfume/cologne I’ve ever liked the smell of (I’m pretty sensitive to a lot of smells.) After that I spent a while wearing something called Jeer, which was the cheap deodorant version of the same scent.
This video has super taken me back.
I can smell it
I wore Joop for men when I was younger and sought out Joop for women thinking it would be pretty cool if BOTH worked well with my body chemistry and could switch between them. Well, the smell of Joop for her was SUPER sharp and smelled very masculine (IMO) and did not work well with my chemistry at all-smelling very spiky and a bit acidic on me. It seemed like it would have been better suited for a man, as the Joop for men was much sweeter and more delicate than the kind meant for women.
Oh, no! Now I won't be able to stop repeating "Oh gee, Mister O'Broyeen!" out loud all day!
Love how Conan did a semi- Harley Quinn impression mixed with a 1920's starlet.
Aw geez Mistah O'Broyin
All I could think was Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors.
Well of course Conan’s mistress would be Harley Quinn; she’s the only woman who can make him look tan by comparison
Like Conan knows who Harley Quinn is? He’s like 60
@@bettygrable6440 I'm sure he's aware of the character given how popular she is.
“Geez Mr. O’Brien, why are we killing people”
That made me lol for some reason 😂😂
It's actually pronounced 'Yope'. It's a common Dutch first name (short for Jacob), though the brand itself is German. The pronunciation is the same. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Ohh! Thank you for this info😃
It’s i think cuz the guys last name is joop
It‘s called Joop because that‘s the company owners last name (Wolfgang Joop)
Joop sounds more fun and funny than yope
Listened to the Tracey Morgan Episode and this bit and couldn‘t tell what Cologne they were talking about even tho I‘m familiar with the brand as a german..
Gotta love Conan. its nice too see someone stick on his own values
Jee Mr. O'Brien you are such a sophisticate 😂
Yes, finally!!!!! Two of my favorite things Conan & Fragrance reviews!!!!!!
Haha, growing up in Cologne/Germany, JOOP! (the double "o" is pronounced as in "door") was worn in the 90s by half the teenage boys, including myself. The person (Wolfgang) Joop is Germany's most famous living fashion designer (was always number 2 behind Lagerfeld). You should invite him to your show, he's quite the personality : )
"should me and Tracy Morgan do an add for Joop!??"...... Uhhh you just did a 9 minute add for them. And I guarantee their sales went up from this.
😂😂 I’m actually going to buy it just to experience it
I actually googled it during this segment to see the price! 😂
I'm seriously considering buying it for my husband
I don't want to smell like a grandma.
Re the scent: different bodies, skin smell differently with the same cologne/perfume. For example I smell great with my fave perfume, but it smells differently on my hubby. Maybe that’s why Tracy was smelling so great.
That's true. One of my friends had this parfume that smelled amazing but when I tried it it smelled disgusting on my skin
my mother often comments on my nice perfumes but when I give it to her to try it smells completely different.
Yes bc of 'body chemistry' with the scent
You were missing the key ingredient - Tracy’s sweat!
Without that, it’s like trying a cake without the flour.
Tracy’s Sweat - it’ll get you pregnant!!
Agree😀
I was 14 when I first discovered Joop!😂😂 in 2004 that cologne was POPPIN! All the teens were wearing it. I love that it’s now being re-discovered again.
I wore JOOP every day in 1995-96. Popular with Preteens/teens in those days. It was a big deal back then, along with Polo Sport and Tommy Hillfiger
Hahaha, bruh, I was a Clinique Happy fella those days myself. I smell that scent, I instantly get transported to simpler times.
for me it was all about that black suede from the avon books, but I definitely remember the polo and curve cologne the preppy kids wore lol
Conan should release his own cologne called "Coco Eau De Brien". Floral Notes include the sweetly pungent aroma of Head N Shoulder's shampoo, Clorox bleach, and charcoal lighter fluid.

As a genuine frag head who owns over 20 different scents I find this hilarious. The world of perfumery is a mystery to many. So often I find people walking down the aisles if a perfume store, picking it bottles and looking confused. There is an art, a culture and a science behind it. Joop has its own cult following. Mostly younger guys who enjoy clubbing. Its a synthetic smelling scent and not for everyone. FYI a scent may smell great on someone else but not on you because it interacts with your skin type and ph etc. Many people with darker skin also have what some call hungry skin that seems to eat the fragrance. ie. They need to apply more to make it last so they often lean towards stronger, more middle eastern style scents. I personally know people like this. Joop would perform differently on Tracy's skin than on connans. Guaranteed. Connan should go to a good perfume shop and find a fragrance that expresses your personality, and is suited for you. But please, don't wear joop.
Best to not wear any of these corny, stinky concoctions that force other people to inhale the chemicals and which will always smell way stronger to everyone else than the wearer.
Just a normal, scent-free deodorant is all anyone should be wearing.
You call yourself a frag head with a measly 20 frags? Until you hit 100 your just window shopping lol.
@@PlagueKing_LordFalix ha, lol. Yes we are a strange group of people. I have stopped at 25 and am taking a year off from buying new scents because I don't have extra cash and I want to enjoy the ones I own. My motto is wear everything I buy and only buy what I will wear. If I don't love it, I get rid of it.
@@robertkerr9527 don't let other people shut you down! you can know about stuff without having an insane collection. your explanation there was fascinating to someone who is completely out of the world of perfumery
@@pemo2676 I have a friend who has 100 bottles but can't wear them all and enjoy them really. I consider my bottles my wardrobe and not a collection. I'm not into collecting, though some are, and that's fine. My next purchases will be a few select attars from Kannauj India. Some for the heat, and some for the cooler weather. Attars are amazing!
More FIFI!!!! 😂😂😂 7:16
the opening (the first 30 minutes after application) of this perfume is indeed very sweet and overpowering. that's why you never judge a perfume by its opening. after the drydown, when the base notes start to take over, it gets much more masculine. still on the sweet side overall for male scents, but a great composition overall, for nights out or generally in winter.
No one asked you for a review especially since you plagiarized the comments.
Conan's real life is just 30 Rock, huh.
I love how he created FiFi on the spot. We need more!
Joop!...for middle schoolers in 1995😂😂 This was hilarious and I bet Conan will be expecting a child very soon.
HOLY CRAP! I wore this in school in like the 90s. I feel like I remember someone telling me it's pronounced "Yoop".
Close, it's "Yohp". He is a German fashion designer. Wolfgang Joop.
does the smell the way they described it?
@KASARCEO Hmmm, it's been a very long time. I can say it is 100% very sweet. It's not a citrus sweet like so many others. I guess I'd describe it as a "cozy sweet." Pumpkin pie sweet.
@@kasarceo Without the cinnamon.
Same I had Joop cologne in the late 90's
The brand is named after Wolfgang Joop, the German fashion designer. It's pronounced "Yohp".
JOOP! has a Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin Orange, and Orange Blossom notes; While it has Cinnamon, Heliotrope, Jasmine, and Lily of the Valley are the heart notes that create a perfectly balanced spicy & powdery bouquet.
Can be purchased from Amazon ($25), SAM's Club ($35), and Walmart ($23).
LOVE the extra effort, u were a good student weren't u?
@@JNMKlover Math & Science, yes. However, I was expelled from High School in my Junior year.
I see people are correcting Conan’s pronunciation of Joop, which makes this bit even funnier!
I was there for the Tracy Morgan live show and met Conan afterwards. One of the most surreal moments of my life. I have a video of him right after I met him uploaded to my channel if anyone cares haha. He only greeted a handful of people (basically those on the railing), so we just got super lucky that we got there early because within minutes hundreds of people were lined up on both sides and across the street. Still can’t quite believe it happened. I think I blacked out when he approached me. After snapping a photo he said “Alright, I gotta go warm up this crowd” and then walked over to the other side and I was just in shock. 😂
Let's check it...

That’s awesome! I can only imagine I’d react the same lol
@@JITCompilation thanks! He was taking a photo with my sister first and I said “Conan!” as they finished and then he looked at me and walked right up to me and I almost couldn’t believe it. Really nice of him to engage with the audience the way he did. He walked around for a couple minutes taking photos with people on the railing and waving to people across the street. You can tell just from his interactions with fans that he is a good human being, I’ve seen some celebrities act really miserable in those sorts of situations or ignore people. Fortunately I haven’t had any negative celebrity interactions yet, and I’ve met some who have supposedly bad reputations like Axl Rose (he was nice but wouldn’t take photos). The craziest was probably running into a drunk Kiefer Sutherland at a dive bar in my small town (his band had played a gig earlier in the evening) and talking to him for 5 minutes about Dark City and Stand By Me, and then him coming back up to me at the end of the night and telling me what a pleasure it was to speak to me lol. He literally came back over and shook my hand before he left the bar. It was wild.

By the way, my uncle's name is Joop (it's a common Dutch first name)
It's a German last name (Wolfgang Joop, the designer) and pronounced "Yohp".
Can't wait to see what Liza thinks! 🤣🤣🤣I died on Fifi 😂😂😂😂
Can we have more of perfume reviews
😂😂😂😂😂
There's a backstory here and I think it's that Conan and Tracy both ended up somehow heavily invested in Joop! and wrote this whole plot to get people to buy it.
He does make a lot of bad investments like those theme restaurants lol
The scent profile changes like 12 times per spray throughout the day.. the very first sent in with you get off of it is a little jarring but then it gets good.. I would not spray it all over yourself right before you walk in the door..
I'm not a huge cologne user. Mine can last five years or longer. I only really use cologne on dates or special occasions. They're usually given to me as Christmas gifts, so I normally move onto the newer one.
I have very fond memories of Joop! though. My dad had it back in the late '90s or early '00s. It had more of a maroon colour at the time (it may have been a different edition). I didn't really like it and I found the name kind of silly. My dad didn't have the best fashion sense either, so I assumed it was a crap brand.
However, I was given a bottle of Joop! Jump (the blue one) as a Christmas present around 2010. I kind of saw it as a cheapish gift (it's no Hugo Boss or Giorgio Armani), but it was surprisingly nice. I always got compliments on it. I then got the pink one a Christmas or two after that (it had more of a frosted glass bottle) and I really liked that one too. It was a little bit feminine, but it worked well in the summer. I always got compliments on it too.
I seem to have misplaced them though around 2015, when I moved house (they must be in a box somewhere in my garage). It was fine though, I had moved onto something a little more high end by then (Acqua di Gio).
Well, fast forward to 2019 and I'm all out of Acqua di Gio. I was planning on getting another high-end fragrance (I was thinking Boss Bottled), but I saw a Joop! section in the department store. It brought back all these pleasant memories, so I had to get another bottle of Joop! Jump. Boss can wait. I still get compliments on it, just like before.
I think it has a perfect balance. It's not too expensive; it can make a good Christmas present (for a brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, etc.) without being too extravagant. It doesn't smell as cheap as other $35, pharmacy-type fragrances. It's also pretty rare, so you don't go around smelling like everyone else. In fact, the girl I was with when I bought my second bottle of Joop! Jump even said that. She liked the Boss Bottled, but she thought I'd smell like every other guy who uses that. She preferred the Joop!
Damn. I just had to give myself two sprays right now. One for Conan and one for Tracy. Joop!
Joop is for the man that embraces a lil bit of his feminine side. Subtle, sweet with bits of floral and tobacco notes.
I had an old boss who wore Joop, and he was one of those guys who didn't know the appropriate amount of cologne to wear and would also reapply during the day when it started to "fade" (ie fade to a tolerable level)
The restaurant scene had me 🪦 ☠️ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Top notes are Orange Blossom, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot and Amalfi Lemon; middle notes are Cinnamon, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Cardamom and Lily-of-the-Valley; base notes are Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Honey, Tobacco and Vetiver.

as a chemist i somehow picked colognes as one of my favourite free time activities. can‘t believe conan doesn‘t use one! such a fun thing to dive into
btw joop is pronounced really different. its a german designer: wolfgang joop. there is way more than 1 scent he created
Yes, it's pronounced Yowp .
I was a solid Calvin Klein Obsession cologne wearer until a girlfriend bought me some JOOP in the mid 1990s. I still have that bottle of cologne - its a different scent. Still have about 70% of it, but I'm sure it doesn't smell the way it's supposed to, by now lol.......
My bottle of the cologne says "Eau De Toilette" towards the bottom front face of the bottle. There's also a sticker on the bottom base of the bottle, with additional info. It does have a more sweeter sent than Obsession, which is more of a spicy scent. When I first smelled it, I thought it was supposed to be women than for men.....
My uncle used to use this stuff, he pronounced it Yope.
Joop! was my favorite cologne for several years. I grew up wearing that and Drakkar Noir... and was surprisingly single much of that time as well.
From their reaction… Maybe it should have been called POOP!!! 😮 😂😂😂
I've been using JOOP! since 1993
JOOP being the aftershave ‘cologne’ of choice of teenage cider drinking boys in 1994.
When I listened to that episode I was surprised people in the audience didn't know Joop!. I knew this cologne since forever. But then again I'm a perfume person and I write perfume reviews so...
I wore Joop in my early twenties as it didn’t smell like the other “masculine” colognes. I still enjoy the scent.
1:23 That reminds me of aftershock... 😆
I'm surprised they've never heard of Joop before, it's a very well known cologne in the UK
it is funny to hear it pronounced this way. Juup, Juup!
it’s a german brand, in german, you would pronounce it as “yope”.
According to the Magic Googling Box Joop! Was actually popular in the 90’s. Apparently Joop! Is a German fashion brand. It might not be as trashy as we think. Just FYI.
I've used Joop! since 2000, glad to see it get the recognition it fully deserves

We wait with bated breath for Conan's updated on his JOOP!-ification...
Omg I freaking love his impressions/accents. Lmao
One of the Backstreet Boys favorite scents was Joop! back in the day when they did those interviews for teeny bopper magazines. And so I’d go to the department store and spray it on the tester sheets and bring it home and pretend he was there. It’s definitely wasn’t a drugstore brand hahaha
I remember Joop from high school. In the 90s
Out of 2,756 fragrances in my collection Joop is by far the worst and only one I truly regret buying. Why would something that smells so bad last so long on the skin. If you wanted to smell like Breakdown industrial bathroom cleaner I know a guy and it won't cost $35.

U gotta get that Joop-Joop!
When i was a teenager i was given a bottle of Joop! from my moms friend. I found out that our cats went CRAZY from it. They LOVED Joop. Give it a shot.
I'd love to see a Joop commercial with Conan and Tracy where they're in Speedos against a white background, running around, dumping buckets of Joop-colored liquids all over themselves...acting sensually, of course...🤣
I wonder if 90's Conan O'Brien would ditch Elizabeth Holmes as played by Amanda Seyfried for Fifi
I’ve been wearing JUPE since I was 10, my dad always had a bottle and both him and my mother loved it. I’m now 21 and I will never wear another cologne for as long as I live and I swear to good people better not jack up the prices because of this video
“THAT Conan would wear a cologne.” I just love Sona
The day before I was set to graduate Boot Camp the company was allowed a day off on base. We could go to the PX (on base department store), go bowling, or do whatever we wanted to do (accept drink or smoke) for a few hours. One of the goofy kids in my platoon bought a bottle of Joop at the PX and one of our Drill Instructors sprayed us all down for our graduation the next day. To this day I still wonder if he was offing up some "wind drift" (cologne) because he though it smelled good or if he was messing with us by making us smell effeminate. All I know for sure is that I couldn't wait to get that smell out of my Dress Blues.
Well, I'm glad Tracy Morgan did everything in his power to literally bring the exclamation point across, LOL😂
BTW: As to the question of Tracy wearing that cologne or not - well, there are a lot of different perfumes out there by Joop!, so...
No story ever ended badly that began with the phrase "I like the way I'm going to smell when I go home tonight," except like, all of them.
Joop takes me back to high school!! Nice to know that adults wear it too 😂😂
Joop was all the rage in Ireland for teenagers 15 years ago.
Actually, it's pronounced more like 'yope' like hope.
Joop was my favorite cologne in my late teens. Now I feel old!!
One of the colognes my dad use to wear was Joop, in the 90s. 😄 He always smelled great.
Men. Wear cologne. I LOVE when a man walks past and smells amazing. Same with women.
It smells like all of Tracy's favorite things: The Knicks, a mop at a strip club, a carefree hobo, a crate with a new giraffe in it, and broccoli.
Really though, it's the exact same color as "Desirz". I can actually imagine that joke being a true to life riff on Tracy wearing Joop! to work when he was on 30 Rock.

Maybe Tracy was wearing the female version. The one you guys have is for men.
I was curious about this cologne because of all the Spice Adams memes I saw online and I knew i had to get a bottle after how pleasant it smelled. And I’m not a cologne or perfume person by any stretch of the word.
