When I was in high school, I felt constant pressure to be liked by everyone and to fulfill my parents' expectations. But I cant. There was something that stopped me, there was a reason that stopped me and made me frustrated and cry. At that point in my life I was listening to this song and I was starting to act to get better and better, I haven't heard this song for about 4 years, and now I understand everything better. I don't have to meet anyone's expectations, I don't have to feel pressured to be better than anyone else, I have to be myself and move forward in whatever I want in life. Today I am a motion graphics artist, I am an illustrator and I am happier than ever. No matter what my surroundings think. Listening to this song again made me realize how much progress I have made in my life. As much as there is fog on the road, the road is still there. Walk into the unknown guided by your heart, and everything will be fine. They will have bad times, but in the end everything will be fine if you do what you want with your life.

This song cuts deep, from the day I first listened to it to me listening to it now. We all have these thoughts, calling ourselves worthless, weak, insignificant. Everyone wants to be somebody and yet if we just stopped to think of all the people we know, at least we can be comforted knowing we are somebody to those people even if sometimes it doesn't feel like it.

TO ME this song is about guy who is depressed, and doesn't have many friends if any, and MAY be contemplating suicide. Then one day the person meets another person(I see it as a female, but it could be a male too), who would become the guys' greatest friend, and eventual love interest, giving the guy a reason to live, because he enjoys being with this person so much. Making the guy slip out of depression, and, later on, he begins to figure out who he is. What he wants to do with his life, part of which is spending said life with the person that made him enjoy life again. I know plenty of you will disagree, and that's a good thing, you have an opinion. That's what makes you yourself, and I would like to hear your opinion. I always wanted to be someone, someone who achieves great, meaningful things to our world, someone people can look up to and someone that will not be forgotten. But the impact you will have in the world is almost non existant, and so should be the thoughts about needing to be someone who has significant impact in the world. But you can have significant impact in someone elses world. Try to influence what you can, be it for your love, your family, or your own life. Realizing this was the hardest thing for me. I think i still havent accepted it completely yet. Im still running around cluelessly and without purpose. Maybe someday i find that world i can care for, something thats worth living for.

People should see Christ and his love when they look at us, not everything we try to make ourselves. This song makes me think of how I use to be. I was changed yesterday, a part of me is gone. My cat had to be put down. She was alive before me. She put up with me when I was little and kept messing with her. And about a year or two ago I made a really strong bond with her, that nobody could or can ever brake. But yesterday, she wasn't herself either. She wasn't my real cat, but she was at the same time. You could tell that for some reason she was suddenly blinded. I was 18 when I broke up with my high school sweetheart after 2 years. I ended up sleeping with a girl and she got pregnant. She was 6 weeks along when she was brutally killed. I ran away... for 6 years, I ran away from my problems. 6 years later, my role model, my idol, my grandpa passed away. During those times, I had 1 person I felt that I could rely on, I had 1 person who pulled me out of the darkness. 9 years after losing my grandpa, I am somebody. I am alive. Broken, but alive. I'm happily married with 2 kids, a loving and adoring wife who deals with everything that I struggle with. And the person who saved me, all those years ago? She's still very much involved in my life and I, in hers. Back then, I wasn't somebody. Just a shell of a man... today, I'm a husband, a father, a friend, a survivor... A fighter. Be Somebody. I became a person who crawled his way out of depression and suicide and I fought... I fought to live.

I always saw this as an artist who bonded strongly with a character that they worked so hard on creating that sooner or later became so strongly attached that this character literally became apart of the person that created them...The words being the character and the sound being the person the boy inside the man the spec inside the mind....and when the character is 'thinking' the artist can't help but continue to listen to these thoughts throughout the night, And the character does so much...letting the artist see things in a whole new light that they didn't think possible.

It just really relates to what I see in people around me. Everyone says they want to change, they want to be a better person and they really do but once they start to change for the better, they just quit. They're willing to start but once it gets hard they give up. Once they realize they miss the fun of a sinful life, because sin is honestly really fun, they just stop. They're willing to change until it gets to where they're mot having as much fun.
I haven't listened to this song in a couple years. Coming back to it now in 2019, I immediately remember all the words as I listened to the first few seconds. Man it's still a great song!

When I was in high school, I felt constant pressure to be liked by everyone and to fulfill my parents' expectations. But I cant. There was something that stopped me, there was a reason that stopped me and made me frustrated and cry. At that point in my life I was listening to this song and I was starting to act to get better and better, I haven't heard this song for about 4 years, and now I understand everything better. I don't have to meet anyone's expectations, I don't have to feel pressured to be better than anyone else, I have to be myself and move forward in whatever I want in life. Today I am a motion graphics artist, I am an illustrator and I am happier than ever. No matter what my surroundings think. Listening to this song again made me realize how much progress I have made in my life. As much as there is fog on the road, the road is still there. Walk into the unknown guided by your heart, and everything will be fine. They will have bad times, but in the end everything will be fine if you do what you want with your life.

TO ME this song is about guy who is depressed, and doesn't have many friends if any, and MAY be contemplating suicide. Then one day the person meets another person(I see it as a female, but it could be a male too), who would become the guys' greatest friend, and eventual love interest, giving the guy a reason to live, because he enjoys being with this person so much. Making the guy slip out of depression, and, later on, he begins to figure out who he is. What he wants to do with his life, part of which is spending said life with the person that made him enjoy life again. I know plenty of you will disagree, and that's a good thing, you have an opinion. That's what makes you yourself, and I would like to hear your opinion. Then again, this is a long ass comment, so I doubt anybody will read all of it.

I always wanted to be someone, someone who achieves great, meaningful things to our world, someone people can look up to and someone that will not be forgotten. But the impact you will have in the world is almost non existant, and so should be the thoughts about needing to be someone who has significant impact in the world. But you can have significant impact in someone elses world. Try to influence what you can, be it for your love, your family, or your own life.

I know how you feel we just got this puppy like a month ago....me and him bonded so much and like two weeks ago there was so much going on I was cooking dinner, my brother was playing around in the kitchen,stepfather was coming to the kitchen to get something to drink, and my mom was screaming at me I had so much going on,and I am only 13,any way since there was so much excitement going on all the dogs started running around in the kitchen the puppy joined in,but I triped over on one of the bigger dogs and fell down on the puppy everything happened so fast and there was blood everywhere and ever time I hear the word 'dead' I see him with blood coming out of his mouth...it brings so much pain

this song hits me in the feels. i remember i was always bullied when i was in 2nd grade, and that whole year, i felt like a nobody. i had no friends, it seemed like everyone didn't know i existed. things weren't any better in my middle school either. back when i was an 6th grader, i had a friend named Jayden. he and i talked a lot, and he seemed nice. well, 7th grade rolled around, and Jayden acted like he didn't know me. 8th grade came, and he hated me. i told him "i thought we were friends!" he just laughed and said, "you actually thought i LIKED you? i only talked to you because i felt sorry for you. we were never friends!"
after hearing that, i was crushed. i went home later that day, closed my bedroom door, and cried. for the first time in my middle school year, i knew what it was like to be truly despised and hated. i didn't speak to anyone for two weeks after that. i tried changing. high school came by, and i acted like a different guy. i tried to be someone else, not just a loser who was disliked. my friends were concerned, and asked what happened to me. i told them the story, and they showed me this song. i listened to it, and it came to me. i don't have to become a different person to be somebody.
if anyone read this, i hope you learn from my story. and Jayden, wherever you are, you may have hated me then, but i won't let you crush me. push me down, say i don't matter, tell me i'm worthless. i don't care! that doesn't mean anything to me now. i know who i really am. i matter to people!

I’ve known this song for 3 years now and it never gets old. Every time I listen to this song I think of things I want to do. Because I really wanna be somebody. But at the same time I’m scared, confused, and not even taking a step forward to do what I want to do.
I was 18 when I broke up with my high school sweetheart after 2 years. I ended up sleeping with a girl and she got pregnant. She was 6 weeks along when she was brutally killed. I ran away... for 6 years, I ran away from my problems. 6 years later, my role model, my idol, my grandpa passed away. During those times, I had 1 person I felt that I could rely on, I had 1 person who pulled me out of the darkness.
9 years after losing my grandpa, I am somebody. I am alive. Broken, but alive. I'm happily married with 2 kids, a loving and adoring wife who deals with everything that I struggle with. And the person who saved me, all those years ago? She's still very much involved in my life and I, in hers.
Back then, I wasn't somebody. Just a shell of a man... today, I'm a husband, a father, a friend, a survivor... A fighter.
Be Somebody. I became a person who crawled his way out of depression and suicide and I fought... I fought to live.

I always saw this as an artist who bonded strongly with a character that they worked so hard on creating that sooner or later became so strongly attached that this character literally became apart of the person that created them...The words being the character and the sound being the person
