    Excellent explanation Mr. Sundar. A teacher is always better than 1000s of books. We are blessed to have such a great teacher.
    T20 and Virat Kohli are apt for the discussion. But I still feel that you can take a inning total as example. When a match starts, the betting starts. Say India will score atleast 300 runs in 50 overs. Buyer bets 50 Rs. Every run more than 300 runs buyer will get 1 Rs. If India's score is 300 or less than 300, the buyer forefeits the premium. Innings end is expiry.
    Again, it's great that you mentioned the One way and 2 way traffic.
    Kudos for the teaching and wishes to you to continue making quality content which is suitable for Indian Markets.

    Sir if market is a zero sum game. When an option buyer book profits who books the loss? If the premium comes down again after an increase the seller won't be paying for it of course. Could be a stupid question but please explain.

    • @PRSundar64
      @PRSundar64  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Premium can go up and come down multiple times before the expiry. But on expiry, whatever premium the Option is trading at, that's what matters.
      For eg. let's say you bought 13500CE for Rs.100 Monthly Expiry (Expiry is on Dec 31st)
      If market is above 13,600 (breakeven point) at the end of Expiry, then you make profit. If market doesn't go above 13,600, you make loss.
      Before expiry, market may go to 13,800 on Dec 20, then come back to 13,200 on Dec 23, then go to 13,600 on Dec 26, then come back to 13,000 on Dec 31. Any kind of movement can be seen. Similarly, the premium will also change accordingly.
      When market goes to
      13,800 - premium will be around Rs.300 (Dec 20)
      13,200 - premium will be around Rs.20 (Dec 23)
      13,600 - premium will be around Rs.100 (Dec 26)
      13,000 - premium will be 0 (Dec 31)
      In this case you lose the entire Rs.100
      BUT it's not necessary that you have to wait till expiry. You may also square off/exit the positions BEFORE expiry when the premium is high.
      You bought 13,500CE for Rs.100
      when the market goes to 13,800 & premium goes to Rs.300 on Dec 20, you can choose to exit by selling the option you have.
      You bought for Rs.100
      You sold for Rs.300
      Profit = Rs.200
      Once you exit, you don't hold the position anymore. The agreement between the option buyer (you) and the seller is done and settled. So after this, it does not matter if the premium becomes high or low.

    • @delta-theta
      @delta-theta 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PRSundar64 Sir, Great explanation as always!
      Coming back to the scenario where the market goes to 13800, buyer books the profit of Rs 200 before the expiry on a beautiful day. :)
      But the seller doesn't square up his position, sure of market closing below 13500. So on expiry day seller doesn't book any loss as the market closes at 13500, instead seller gets Rs 100 when sold as his/her profit.
      So in the end, when both seller and buyer ends in profit.
      Who paid those Rs 200 to the buyer when he squared up his position way before the expiry?

    • @sae6969
      @sae6969 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@delta-theta a option contract always done between seller and buyer... if a buyer needs to buy.. then a seller needs to sell then only a contract must be assigned... if there is no seller for your contract like if u buy in otm option.. then it must be put in hold untill upto the market reaches to your strike price and lakhs of buyers ready to buy your contract.. here buyer becomes seller.. but seller is always seller...
      .
      Always remember you buy you sell...
      but seller only sells and square off his positions to minimize his looses by giving extra money to your contract

    Nice however I m missing some technicals that when I bought CE by paying 20 as premium VK is at 40 runs and when he is at 60 and 80 runs, will my 20 Rs not grow? Say another 10 Rs added on my premium 20+10, then how come I get profit and the profit starts only when he scores beyond 100 only! I m confused or is it only on the day of expiry or applicable even before the expiry?
