I can't hear the difference between an A820 and a PR99 recording from a CD. That shows Studer/ Revox is a serious reproducer

these clamps and plates were a special revox only accessory as they are not 1km std plates only 10.5inch plate a km plate will not fit any revox
Great deck ! I have two of the same model. I also use SM911, along with LPR35 and MDS-36. I'm curious many Nwb do you have the operating level set for at 0 VU?

How do you adjust eq & bias for different tape types ?
Hi Phillip, I have a question about using pancake plates on a Revox PR99 Mk2...I have this machine which has the standard sprung loaded spindles how can I use AEB/DIN type pancake plates and tape pancakes...you seem to have some screw down adapters is that correct, if so do these fit on the standard sprung loaded spindles...thanks for any advice as I would like to replicate your setup here
If you get the pancakes, there will be a construction that 'slides' over the spindles on the machine. Here is a detail photo: pvdm.xs4all.nl/pic/pr99pan.jpg

Giacomo Buonafina No reason. It was just a first test a long time ago. Nowadays I use a hotter signal.

What is the style of those reels? What are they called and where do you get them
THey are called platters, or plates and are used in professional environments. Get them on ebay.

Hoi Philip. Mooi deck man! Even een vraagje over die pancakes. Hebben die nou betere geluidskwaliteit dan bijvoorbeeld een Maxell XL1 35-180B? Want ik ben eigenlijk opzoek naar wat nieuwere banden. Want de Maxell banden draaien het best op men Akai GX-625 en GX-630D.
+DiscocutOfficial Hoi, het ligt er natuurlijk aan waar je deck op afgeregeld is wat het beste klinkt. Ik regel alles af op RMGI (BASF) LPR35 en deze SM911 die er nu op ligt is dezelfde tapeformule maar dan 50µm dikke band ipv 35µm. Persoonlijk heb ik weinig tot geen Maxell XL1 35-180B en ik heb ook geen deck die er op afgeregeld is. Dus ik kan je daar verder niet bij helpen. Als je nieuwe band wil kopen, is de keus simpel: er is alleen nog maar nieuw te koop bij RMGI en die hebben alleen de BASF range van formules, dus lpr35, sm911, etc etc..

Dat word misschien goed zoeken voor goeie Maxell tapes? Over jou deck, gaaf deck man! Mooi die hoge snelheid ook. Heeft die hoge snelheid echt zo veel impact op de geluidskwaliteit?

Als je (semi) professioneel bezig wilt zijn, is er eigenlijk maar 1 optie: en dat is 2 sporen volspoor en 38 cm/s :)
+Philip van der Matten Hoi. Ja, daar vragen ze best veel voor ja. Ik gebruik de bandrecorder zowel voor om af te spelen. Maar ook om mixen erop te maken, dus ik verspil ook heel veel tape.
+DiscocutOfficial ik heb eens een goeie deal gemaakt met 50 (AGFA) banden voor 50 euro, klinken erg lekker. Heb er nog steeds lol van. Ik koop regelmatig partijen, ook pancakes.

Hello Philip, gorgeous deck the PR99, but your A80 is the deck I lust after.
After much searching I found a pair of AEG DIN platters for my A810. Before I bid on these, one question; can these platters be safely used on a rack mounted deck? I have yet to see a vertical deck using these.
+Christos Spyrou I would not recommend using pancakes vertically. Ever.

+Philip van der Matten Not as great as the A80. Have mine biased to +6 using AGFA/BASF/EMTEC 468 & 528 tape. Very pleased.

How do you like this tape compared to ATR?
sorry I don't own ATR tape, so I can not compare.
But for me, and all my recorders, new LPR35/SM911 tape works really well!

the pr99 is just a fancy B77 , so essentially you do have a b77
Where can I buy pancake RMGI SM911?
Yhat depends on where you are located. I am in the Netherlands. I can buy it here locally or in Germany.
Try Thomann in Germany. I get my LPR35 there, and I think they also sell SM911...
