in a newly erupted incisor, the incisal surface has an incisal ridge which has a smooth convexity. but with continuous use, the roundedness of this ridge disappears and it becomes sharp. now it is called incisal edge.

It can be defined as the line encircling the tooth at its greatest bulge. Every surface has a crest of curvature. For maxillary central, labially and lingually at cervical one third. On proximal surfaces on their contact areas.
