@Gaming Off The Grid "Super Mario 3D World." If you're playing single or multiplayer some levels require the player using the gamepad to activate platforms for the player(s) to jump on to scale walls or whatever the challenge may be.
I played Rayman Legends on Wii U and PlayStation. It feels like a bunch of the difficulty on PS simply came from not being able to play it the way it was made to be played. Ditto Mario Maker. It took a while to get used to building levels on Switch and it was never quite as fun as it was on Wii U. I will say that the Wii U pad is heavy and doesn't feel quite as good in the hands as many smaller controllers. But that is vastly outweighed by the functionality the second screen gives you. DS, 3DS and WiiU definitely had something with that second screen that I actually do miss. I hope Nintendo implements something like it in the future.
Never experienced Legends on another console. Definitely can imagine it being way different. Love the 2 screen mechanic. Would have been nice if the Switch could do that even for some games. Cheers!

Xenoblade Chronicles X. There is a map system called frontiernav. The gamepad essentially becomes not only a map but a management tool for frontiernav. The gamepad is applied brilliantly in this game, and the stylus makes it even more enjoyable. That is why I don't think a switch port could possibly be as good as the wii u version with a gamepad.
Dang, not sure how that one slipped my mind. We knew we forgot Fatal Frame but totally spaced Xenoblade. Awesome game. Still have yet to finish. Have about 100 hours in and then put it down. At this point I'd probably have to start over to know what the hell I was doing lol. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
It was really impressive how well most gamepad features worked with the games themselves--as you said, it rarely felt gimmicky. Anytime you had the tablet as a accessory screen to the action, I loved that feature. It streamlined Wind Waker and things like Batman look to work so, so well in this regard. Super Mario Maker just is not the same without that gamepad to use in making the stages--it was hands down THE way to create! I hoped it would've spawned a long-dormant follow up to Mario Paint. You know, I think we downloaded Affordable Space Adventure, but I don't think we've yet given it a go. Ha ha--I KNEW Axiom Verge had to make the list!

New to your channel, got myself two modded Wii U’s and I’m glad I got them when I did as I feel it’s one of the retro consoles that will only become harder to get the further down the road we go. Made sure I had discs of all the games I like the most.
Awesome! Thanks for stopping by. Much appreciated. You are spot on with the Wii U. In the not so distant future this thing will be highly collectable for sure and the market for it we'll get crazy. That's our prediction. Cheers!
Gaming Off The Grid I just added Rayman Legends, Batman Armored, and Affordable Space Adventures to my library. I always appreciate guys like you who point out ones I missed even if I have it on another system. I’ve been seriously collecting for it the last few years and with the mods and Nintendont I got all the hits fir the Wii and GameCube backed up on hard drives, SD cards and USB drives plus one has all the handhelds and old school stuff through retroarch. This thing really does all things past from Nintendo and much of it isn’t emulation at least for the GameCube and up. Plus with the Smash Bros adapter I can use all GameCube controllers like my wavebirds and bongos without a hitch. Tech support across TH-cam is solid and helpful.
I've only played the Wii U version so full disclaimer there but Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. The gamepad gives you a ton of useful information. It'll tell you what types of attacks the enemy you are fighting is weak to. It'll tell you what enemy attacks you are weak to so you can plan better. It displays the map in dungeons. Also you do things called Sessions which are basically chain attacks with the other members of your party and it'll tell you what order a sessions will be for which type of attack. All extremely useful information that makes the game way easier to figure out to get the most fun out of it.
Very cool and great info. We picked that one up recently but have yet to play it. Really looking forward to it though. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I'll warn you now, it's weird. It could just as easily be called "Japanese Pop-Culture: The Video Game" because it's the most Japan thing I've seen.
Batman Arkham games. You have to use the pad for Arkham city but origins you can the classic controller. I've never tried using the pad but now interested in seeing if the pad works similar
One of the best games to have ever used the Wii U GamePad in my opinion is Year Walk, an indie horror game from the creators of Sayonara Wild Hearts, Simogo. You can view the map on the GamePad in real time without having to pause, and you can draw solutions to puzzles on the touchscreen Hotel Dusk style. Really cool functionality, and a great title too. Unfortunately, it is only available digitally, and only on the European eShop (it was delisted from the NA one a while ago alongside some other cool indie games). Year Walk is also on PC, but none of that fancy touchscreen stuff is there. There's also a version for iOS devices but I'm not all that familiar with it.
I was hoping you would do a follow up to this video before the Wii U eShop closes this coming March. I've purchased most of the suggestions in this video and in the comments.
I'm just throwing this out there but maybe a video on PS4 games that utilizes the controller that being the touchpad like I think the two Infamous games on the PS4 uses the touchpad. But most games use the touchpad that I've played on PS4 brings up the map, change camera angles, etc. and if you're playing The Division on PlayStation 4 if I remember correctly ISAC the Cortana AI speak to you through the speaker in the controller. And that's just an idea if you want to do it
That would be interesting. To me it's always a mystery if a game will use the Touchpad, Mic or the Gyro and many times I'm just using the Touchpad to skip intros/outros when watching DVDs/Blu-Rays instead of using the D-Pad/Analog stick or the menu to skip because I find it fun to use and to remind myself it's there and not just a big Select button like 90% of games it seems as Share takes it's place. That or using the Touchpad for the PSTV with certain Vita games. Games like Last of Us 2 used the Touchpad for Guitar which was interesting, and Killzone Shadowfall had interesting uses of the Touchpad with the Robot companion in some levels, no clue if either those or Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy use Gyro aim as Uncharted Golden Abyss on the Vita uses Gyro aiming so I assume the same idea carried over? I've never noticed it so maybe not. I'd have to look that up. Infamous using the gyro for the spray can was really creative, I don't know about the Touchpad as I never played them I just know from a friend. Nier Automata I think used both halves of the Touchpad for your inventory/some other quick menu access which I've not seen any game do otherwise and I always remember as I know the touchpad as the same quadrant uses as the Vita even if not for L2/L3/R2/R3 on the PS4 compared to the Vita or whatever a Developer set as an input. Wonderful101 Remastered uses the Touchpad to move the inventory screen which was originally on the Wii U Gamepad, now on TV around or toggling it the second screen on and off, while there is Gyro that appears in the inside building areas of the game. While originally a Wii U game they really made good use of the Dualshock 4's features and I think the Switch version probably does as well and is besides the audience I think is why the game isn't on the Xbox One is because it doesn't have those features and they didn't want to remap inputs to menus and many buttons. I don't own Wonderful101 on Wii U but I can tell how they made it work on PS4, which even Zombi on other platforms just looks off without the Wii U Gamepad moving the HUD elements off the TV and the tension of the game not pausing when looking in your inventory is so great, I don't know if it pauses on PS4/Xbox One but if it does I think that would ruin the atmosphere. Either way any footage would be fine. I'd want to see a video on Touchpad/Gyro/Mic features of the Dualshock 4. I'd have to look at a few lists myself just to see what's listed by articles as I'm curious now what few games actually use the Dualshock 4's features that I may have forgotten/overlooked and with the Wii U and Wii I remember easy which support it, the PS3 only launch titles and certain later ones I remember like LittleBIgPlanet's movement of the hands, but for PS4 I barely remember many at all other than launch titles and the later ones I own that made me remember the features exist, and besides swiping when watching a DVD/Blu-Ray of course.
Too bad Sony didn't do more integration w/the Vita as a controller. It was so cool with Little Big Planet 2 on the PS3 and Vita. Had so much potential. Guess the Vita being a failure (in Sony's eyes) didn't help)
@@tsunamirider9895 It is sad. Having the Remote Play with actual controls besides Touch or the Phone and Controller is great, crosssave/crossbuy/crossplay with mostly Indies I think was cool and Second Screen but not much else I think. I don't have many examples but Outrun 2006 for PSP&PS2 with cross save, Resistance 2 on PS3 with a PSP playing Resistance Retribution can apply an Infection mode that makes the game harder I think (only tested not replayed the game this way and the feature turns off after you quit the game/battery needs charging I think), Wip3out Pulse on PSP and Wip3out HD on PS3 there is a Game Share feature (never used but its on the box/in the Pulse game's manual,) and the few games that offered Remote Play for it were fewer but still a start. Never tried LBP2 and Move/Vita, might have to try that sometime. The PSP got some really cool uses like I said so its sad the Vita didn't as much besides furthering a few features due to more power the system had and whatever they wanted to market on a wider scale that they kind of tried. The Vita just ended up a Second Screen (like the PSP did for general PS3 menu access) and Remote Play but no HDMI out (besides the PSTV of course) it seems (as far as I know at least). I get the lack of sales and they tried many times but customers were over it due to its obvious flaws or they didn't have any ideas/money/time worth wasting potential (they could have just remarketed either their big games like Nintendo does, casual ones in 2014 or AA Japanese games or the few AAA ports that were the hits on the system and target that audience even if small they still are a sizeable one) on it for developing cool concepts other than Remote Play in almost every PS4 game I assume. At least it has its own good library and some features rather than nothing though (silverlining). But still sad. I hope the rumoured/plans of the PSP5G (a patent and brief info, no concrete name of course) turns out better but who knows. I wish it to be Vita backwards compatible but I doubt it (would make more sense then UMD to add support for and I assume would be easy to add).

Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water is in my opinion the best use of the Wii U Gamepad, it’s like they were made for each other. Good luck playing it in NA though.
Don't ask how we forgot to mention that game. We've talked about it alot on the channel and for this episode we just spaced it. No physical release over here be we got it from the eShop. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Just discovered you guys, awesome content. I’ve owned a Wii U for 9 years but only now am digging into its back catalog because used Wii U games are so cheap, at least for now. Keep it up!
Awesome to hear! Glad you found us. Cheers to the Wii U!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I own Wiiu since 2014. Best console.
Alien Isolation would have been cool on the WiiU.
How this channel isn't massive is beyond me..... I'm always so hyped on your guys content. A+ gaming info
Very cool. Glad you are liking the vids. Always good to hear that type of feedback. Much appreciated. Cheers!
Definatly an underrated channel. Happy I’m part of the 10k gang! Love the content!!
Thanks man! We really appreciate the support. It's a grind as a small channel let me tell ya. Cheers!
It makes me very happy to see ZombiU on this list because that game is badass!
Hell ya it is. So much damn fun to play multiplayer. Very underrated. Store were damn near giving it away a while back.
The only thing that sticks about BO2 for the wii u is you cant buy the dlcs 😭😭😭
Zelda ww hd uses the gamepad really well! Im doing a playtrough of it right now and i love it! Tp hd next and then i have played all the Zelda games on the wii u
It does indeed. TP uses it about the same. You'll enjoy for sure. Thanks for watching and cheers to the Wii U!
Awesome video. I picked up Mario Maker and Starfox this weekend. Will have to get some others out.
Thanks man! Such a fun time to collect for this system. We are thoroughly enjoying it.
Cheers!
I can not only see and hear but also FEEL your passion!!
Thanks! We really enjoy the Wii U alot! Cheers!
21:40 so true. Not even all Nintendo games made use of gamepad full potential .
Great video. Mass effect 3 made great use of gamepad too.
Have played the game.....but not on the Wii U. Gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation. Cheers!
Only recently discovered this channel due to you guys appearing in a couple recent metal Jesus rocks videos. You guys r awesome and all ur videos r worth while watching and I love how you guys r always so happy and really enjoy ur selves. So close to that 7k!! Early congrats! Love the videos 👏💪
Thanks a ton! Hit it this afternoon. Pretty remarkable. Crazy that there are that many folks who care about our craziness lol. Cheers!
I agree with you on everything except for Mario Maker. Mario Maker 1 is great on Wii U, but I feel SMM2 perfects it.
I love my Wii U and I love it when games utilized the GamePad. Great video as always!
It's our favorite console to collect for right now by far. We pretty much have every game that we want for it so gonna have to shift our focus soon. But we put a lot of miles on our Wii U. Such an underrated machine. Cheers!
Iam enjoying WiiU in 2021 for the first time, awesome platform with the gamepad
Hell ya! Cheers to that! Tons of fun to be had with that console. So underrated in our opinion. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid absolutely!
WiiU+New3dsXL and you have 25+years of Nintendo's library. I just ordered a New3dsXL from ebay.
Prior to gamecube Ive all the roms, for the gamecube Ive 200gb of games. Wii 1.5extrrnal HD full. WiiU 1.5 TB not full yet. And soon will star the DS+3ds collection.
My GF says that I spend more time looking for games to play than actually playing them xD. Sad but true !
You guys forgot Fatal Frame! Great video though!
Damn it! How the hell did we forget that???? We kept thinking of games as we were filming but some how that didn't pop into our mind. Probably because it's on our external and wasn't in front of our face lol. Cheers!
Origins works like the 360 and ps3 version but the map is on the gamepad I’m pretty sure and the gadgets are on the screen
Thanks for the info. We weren't sure on that one. Still need to play it at some point. Cheers!
Yeah it’s a good game ain’t as good as city tho
Love the wii u. For me the best console off all time.
Hot take but we like it! It's our favorite console to collect for right now and we've been playing the hell out of it. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
2nd for me
The thing for me is that it is such a unique experience that cannot be replicate by anyother console and you can still play wii games that has some unique experience by its own. So for me it is the perfection of gaming and fun.
Mario Kart 8. Seeing what item your opponents have during races is an awesome feature. Only that and MK DS/ MK7 had that feature
Oh yes! That is a good one. We knew we didn't think of all of them :). Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid you got most of them lol I’m sure there’s some I’m forgetting 🤷🏻♂️
We frickin forgot Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. How? No clue. We love that game. Idiots I tell ya lol
@@GamingOffTheGrid Wii Sports Club and Wii Fit U also were quite good. Lego City another fun one!
Great review guys!! The Wii U doesn’t get enough love heck some guys in a certain podcast bash on the Wii U just because of the low sells.....but the console is so underrated and underappreciated.
Glad you enjoyed! Gotta love the Wii U :). We are big fans. Cheers!
I love your blend of game reviews and beer reviews! So classy! :)
LOL! Might be the first time we've been called classy in our lives but damn it feels nice :). Cheers!

@@GamingOffTheGrid I fn knew I loved you guys for a reason, actually many! You guys should have so many more subs. Gaming, comedy, great advice....and ya drink a beer at the end...fn genius! Keep 'em coming please!
Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I’m close to 100 hours myself. I’ve barely scratched the surface.
Great video! It looks like it would be cool to hang out with these guys, I'm a fan now.
Thanks a ton man! We really appreciate it.
Just got a wii u a couple weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it! Awesome videos my friends! I SO look forward to all your latest uploads! Cheers from the middle of nowhere Alaska!
Very cool! Glad you are enjoying it. Such an underrated console. Glad you are enjoying the content. Stay warm up there. We are in the heart of Winter in Iowa as well. Probably doesn't compare to Alaska though. Cheers!
Thank you! This is exactly the video I was hoping for! Well done gentlemen...well done.
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the Wii U!
Great video lads.
Huge fan of the WiiU too... As you know 👍
You can't highlight Affordable Space Adventure enough.... Really pleased you enjoyed it as much as we did.
I fancy playing Axion Verge but on PS4, don't gave the WiiU version 😭
Very envious of the Axiom Verge vinyl by the way 👌🏻🍻
So damn glad you introduced us to that game. Forever grateful :). Cheers!
Dude, I didn't know about that feature on the Madden 13 on WI U. I never picked it up cause I was like I have it on the Vita and the 360 so why pick it up. If I had known that I would have. Gonna have to grab it if I find it now.
It's pretty badass man. Not the best version but the hot route feature makes it super fun. Cheers!
That four port n64 hat though that’s a badass hat.
I want someone to discuss how awesome balloon fight is graphically and in general on the Wii U. I mean it would be great if I can control some of it with controller buttons and direction pad but that's such a beautiful game. I've always loved the balloon fight games and I was in awe when I saw it in HD like that
We actually havent played that but you are right it does look good! We need to fire it up! Cheers!
Damn I didnt know Human Revolution was on there \m/ Gotta get that one thanks guys
Love this version. The tablet takes the experience to the next level. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
To me gamepad is GOLD
Cant wait to see you guys at 1 mil
Dang man......idk about that. Long road ahead lol. Greatly appreciate the vote of confidence though. We shall see how things play out. Cheers!
Pad doesn't work as well with Origins as it does in City. City f'n nailed it for sure. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Hell ya just what I was lookin for
Just the video I was looking for. Thanks guys!
Glad you enjoyed! Cheers to the Wii U 🍻
There is an eshop game called Unepic, a fun dungeon crawler with hell of an inventory. Best managed on the gamepad.
Interesting! Never got the chance to play it! 🍻
There's also a version for iOS devices but I'm not all that familiar with it.
great stuff. I'll check out the madden game for sure
Definitely an awesome feature man. It's like drawing plays up in the dirt :). Cheers!
Love your channel, been a sub since you had 2k subscribers :)
Thanks for your love and support!
Congratz on blasting past 7K subs! 🍾🍾
ZombiU is the best game with use of the Tablet and one of the best zombie killing games ever
Fun as hell for sure. We love the hoard mode! Good times. Cheers!
And the multiplayer is so cool
I was hoping you would do a follow up to this video before the Wii U eShop closes this coming March. I've purchased most of the suggestions in this video and in the comments.
We have multiple videos up about the Wii U E shop closing and what games to snag! Hope you check them out! Cheers!
I come for the games, I stay for the beers.
LOL! Nice. Cheers to that!
Wii U 4EVA BABY!!!!!
Yesir! Cheers to the Wii U!
Resident evil revelations is another great one on Wii U. It plays just like the 3DS version
And that's just an idea if you want to do it
That is a great idea. It would take some research on our end as we haven't played a ton of games that use it but it can be done :)
Ayyy you reached 7k congrats!!!!
Great video guys, love the wii u. I feel like most good games will go way up in price like the gamecube.
Definitely. 5-10 years out the Wii U will be highly collectable we believe. Time will tell. Glad we have most of what we want already :). Cheers!
Thank you taking the time to reply to my comment. You two are some awesome dudes and love what you upload. I don't know if you have it already, but RUNBOW is one of my fav party wii u games. It's pretty awesome that you can have 9 different people in one room all playing at once with some fun characters from other indie games. Also cars 3 is actaully kinda fun and I'm not even a fan of the movie it's based on.
if only they added the 2nd screen for the switch dock. wii U is still hooked up on my main TV.
