The first time I went back to Skate 3 after getting accustomed to Skater XL I knew I would never go back to the EA Skate series....ever. And those were my absolute favorite games! After 10+ years though, it’s time for something new.
@@Lostsin.s Pre-order or not, I think all of us are going to want to play it. There's also a good chance this new entry in the series will do some type of free flip as well. It would be a huge missed opportunity not to try it. Seems like a reasonable evolution from the old games, but it's only speculation at this point. We won't know until EA gives us a trailer or more information.

I've played Skate since the first one and as much as I love the franchise it is hard to go back to them after playing skaterxl. The amount of control and trick variation in SkaterXL is unmatched. Everything just feels better. The world in Skate 1 and 2 are definitely better and more involved than a game like SkaterXL but at the end of the day mechanics are the most important part of a skate game for me and SkaterXL rules supreme in that regard.

Been playing the original Skate recently just to get that nostalgia hit! Our local skatepark had a metal shed kitted out with Xbox 360's and the original Skate back when it first came out - such a good time.
@@iSeeEZEkill it's because skate 3 has different difficulties which make it more realistic the harder you set it. You can also time your pop to get different jump heights. XL jump height just feels wrong in so many situations. There are small many pads on xl, for example, which even low pop on default settings is just way too high. Gotta ollie like 4 feet from the pad just to have enough room to do anything on it. Both fun games, but jump height and realism are the reasons I prefer Session to XL in their current states. Both have an update coming soon which look amazing on both sides. Can't wait to see everything they have to bring us.

Yup, coming back to skate 3 from skater xl is a pain in the ass, thats why I just stopped playing xl, atleast til the updates make it better enough for me to leave skate 3 for once, but I just still love a lot of things from skate 3 like all those og clothing styles from late 2000's as well for the amount of tricks, celebrations, contests, online etc, heck, lately ive been recreating SLS contests in custom maps with all the pros, its a blast. I still feel too comfortable with skate 3, a stats menu on console for XL would definitely make me move on for sure.

Honestly, the music from the skate games is probably my favorite part about them now. I love the games, poured literally hundreds of hours into each title, but, the one thing that has stuck with me was the music. First time I ever really listened to The Clash was skate 1, first time I ever really listened to Express yourself by NWA, Green onions by Booker T. and the M.G.'s, Judas priest, DRI, Kool and The Gang, black sabbath, The skate franchise and Tony hawk games pretty much shaped my taste in music so they always will have a sentimental place in my mind.
Of course things like the gameplay have evolved since skate 3 but I am still missing a Park Editor in every other skate game!! And that's a big thing, not just for me but all the people who love to put their creativity in building skatepark. People are still building and uploading parks every day and there is a whole community behind this, would be great to have this opportunity in Session or SkaterXL as well.
It'd be interesting to see a "underappreciated skate 3 spots" video. Like certain rails, certain stairs, or just areas that nobody skates as much anymore.
I wish skate 3 and skate 4 had differant sets of controls or customisable controls cuz i wanna play skate and session but since i play session more its very hard to get used to both types of controls
Honestly aside from graphics, skate 3 is very much better than XL and session. It’s just wayyy more polished, tricks and body movements look so much better, and just overall is a much more complete package. Makes sense considering this is a large AAA producer ea vs easy day and creature. But still every time I see skate games I’m like damn that looks tight. But that gives me hope that XL and session can get this level of polished which will be even better than skate 3

I think they should just make the existing revert input work in the air so you revert when you land. Also let you tweak the board to do nose and tail reverts
I clearly didn't put enough hours into skate, a few months playing session and skater XL and then recently got skate 3 again on game pass, it feels gross now. The muscle memory has totally gone and it's not much fun feeling like I gotta re learn it so I just play the two newer games, even with the zero progression or janky ass animations or the console moon gravity physics, I have fun with them.
tbh i think its better than both games as far as the physics and maps go. so detailed. If Skate adds the option of choosing different control systems, it will blow those games away

In my opinion, its still more fun than skater XL and session. The difficulty in the new games makes it REALLY hard to share the game with friends. Meanwhile ive had even people who have never skated a second IRL play skate with me for hours.
The problem is that Skater XL feels rushed. But Session really has a lot of potential. With every update it gets better. Whenever the 1.0 version releases I really think it can be the best skateboarding game of all time.
Skater XL is very very fun, but booting up skate 3 brings it all back. The soundtrack, pros, clothes, graphics, and glitches. I still think Skate 2 was better, but I def have more hours of skate 3.

I prefer the skate series because of the cartoonish look and better transitional skating over skater xl. Skater xl is way too much of a serious skating game and minus NPCs just makes me feel far more lonely than ever.

I spent so many times on skate 3 and now on Skater xl and the bad things is that’s very difficult to replay skate 3 after Skater xl
The amount of control might be superior in skater xl but the gravity of the skater and the way tricks are stomped in skate is just so damn satisfying

The Skate series has the best vert skating mechanics imo, especially at in the DIY park from the first title in the Sanitarium DLC
