“Labour Has Broken Its Manifesto Promise” | Increased Taxes Expected In Budget

- Rachel Reeves is planning to raise inheritance tax as part of a push to collect up to £35 billion in the upcoming Budget. Currently, the tax is set at 40% on estates valued over £325,000 when someone dies.
Reeves is considering changes such as raising the tax rate, lowering the threshold, or adjusting exemptions. For instance, the rule that allows gifts given more than seven years before death to be tax-free might be revised. Other changes could affect tax breaks for businesses and farmland.
These potential reforms are expected to spark controversy. Although only 4% of estates pay inheritance tax, many see it as unfair. Jeremy Hunt, the Shadow Chancellor, has criticised it as "anti-Conservative."
Reeves' Budget on October 30 is expected to include significant tax hikes.

Why ar'nt there laws that stop this happening, that when they proclaim their manifesto it is a legally binding contract. This is immoral and should be illegal to lie or change their minds without a formal request/vote process etc that proves it's the only way they can provide their manifesto.

Yes every party that wins elections breaks some of the manifesto promises. However, Labour are taking that to the extreme and throwing in some very cruel and punishing decisions, not to mention practically inviting illegal immigrants which is against what most British people actually wanted.

Labour plans to spend around £50 billion from 2024 to 2029 on net zero initiatives. But did you know that another £50 billion is needed to adapt to climate issues. This figure focuses on crucial infrastructure, such as flood defenses, urban drainage upgrades, and coastal protection, which are necessary to cope with increased climate-related risks. Net zero create public debt and this is why taxes will go up. But I would rather spend the net zero money being sent overseas and here on ADAPTING. not waiting for someone in government to come out and say 'well we've hit net zero lads, but unfortunately we need another £50 billion+ and take into account inflation' idiots in power.
Honestly Britain contributes nothing on a global scale to emissions so it’s pointless for us to do it, big countries could make a difference
@@7755fghI agree. But I would rather be taking the adaption approach, than the path we're currently going down. Not enough debate on this matter is happening. Net zero is all well and good if the whole world is going for it. Since 1750 to 2023 UK emissions are only 3% (some claim 5%) and that includes the industrial revolution which benefited the world. It's all self harming at this rate

As far as medical training is concerned, all we have to do is send our young people to the countries from which we were previously importing the staff and have them do their training there in 5 minutes. Simples.
Same with care staff, mid wives, teachers.

As soon as your handing down 1m plus it's easy to avoid, you just set up 2 types of trusts, job done. It's the lower levels of inheritance that gets caught out because it's not really financial viable to set trusts up.
