- Exploring Kwajalein Atoll
I spent 10 days in Kwajalein for work. It is a tiny island in the Marshall Islands. There wasnt a whole lot to do besides work. There is scuba diving and visiting the neighboring island of Ebeye. It was an opportunity to visit a place that isnt open to visit or tourism since it is a military installation. The US fought here in WWII.

I was there in 94,95 working for Zachry lots of good fishing worked on the power plant, housing, water treatment plant and a few other things
Beautiful island kwaj, I lived there from 1971 to 1977 as a kid what a place to grow up. During that time we had no TV until the last part of 76 an that was recorded and broadcast from 3pm to 10pm lol.
So this is what it looks like. In 1957 i was stationed in Iceland USAF communications. One evening i was sitting at the console when i heard a call "MATS 3294 Kwajalien on 11228, do you read me"? After a couple attempts i could tell they weren't able to raise the a/c so i called Kwaj "Kwaj Keflavik do you read"? They actually ANSWERED saying 'Where is Keflavik"? I said ICELAND lol That has to be ( almost ) half-way around the globe, or close to it. Very interesting.

The military didn’t just fight there. In the island of Kwajalein, the Japanese used to execute American POWs and would have secret interrogation camps there that were supposed to be POW camps. There were thousands of Americans executed on Kwajalein island and the Marshall Islands in general.

Terrible what the Feds did to the Marshall Islands and the people that once inhabited this island. Benevolent or malevolent? I guess it depends on your nationality!
How can i work there? Can i be civilian?
Yes you can work there as a civilian, you just need to be hired by one of the contractors that are working out there. I was there for a company called San Juan Construction, but there are others.
