less than 10 for mild , 12-15 for mod sever ards - as a general guide
You may choose one of the following after that for fine tuning

Transpulmonary pressure can also be used however not really feasible in routine practice
Keep RR as low , it contributes to VILI
can increase TV upto 8ml/kg
