This is one of the most horrific story I have ever heard. In 1981, as a freshman at the University of Michigan, there was a fellow black student on my hall in the dorm. He got rousted by Ann Arbor police while trying to use his new bank card, at an ATM. I will never forget how upset that guy was and despite I should have known why he was so upset I didn't. He left the school before the end of the first semester. As a son of a cilvil rights activist, I was clueless to the pain this guy experienced.

One thing about the police, they can tell after talking to you for a while if you're who they're looking for, they knew he wasn't the suspect, but listening to the young man, he's intelligent, articulate, and obviously educated, they wanted to disrupt, and inconvenience him any way they can, sue the hell out of them.
You said it! They had ulterior motive once they saw an intelligent, articulate black young man at USC who is in conflict to how they would rather portray young black men in America to as. USC is as guilty for adhering to the lameness of this whole episode.
This is sad and disheartening. Typically, a black man walks home, and here comes the cop criminally them without getting their fact straight. I'm glad he's back in school and hope he continues to share his story and get some justice.
The reason why it is so much is to keep black people from being educated. They have always tried to keep us uneducated. That is our weapon against them and they know it. Parents always encourage your children to higher education.
This one big fat lawsuit waiting for a lawyer to sue the police department which is hard to go but doable and the school is also liable for not giving this young the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions before investigating the whole situation.
That's what's bothering me too. And why the fuc would he go back there after how they treated him?? If he sued he'd be set for life. Something wrong with this whole story.

The shame of the police!!! Actually, cellphone towers can ping your location which would also be in this young man’s defense! Shame on the police and so called witnesses!!!! Also, the places that he went are in his defense!
And his fingerprints taken on the street when he was arrested. This was terrorism. He had witnesses, fingerprints and an app everything to prove his innocence from day one of his kidnapping. Why was he held for weeks?
Trouble is, he could have handed it off to someone else, they'd have to actually work, verifying his appearance on CCTV. Cops are nothing if not lazy. Quote from my Detective Inspector Mum.
