Even professionals sometimes overlook Cheese. Honestly it is an easy fix and sometimes difficult to truly know something like that is possible during the level creation. I do love professional plat-former developer levels. Nintendo is super good at it, love story mode.

For the last one, the way you go forward and round for the keys is like getting strawberries in Celeste! It's so cool how Matt is able to make it similar!

Did you finish it up to the Golden strawberries? Those are definitely tough. I loved B and C sides, but those damn goledn strawberries are the real challenge

Before making indie games, he worked in several 2D animation studios. Pedro Medeiros: He worked in advertising before starting to develop independent games in 2010. His specialty is 2D art, but he also does game design and programming. He made pixel art for "Celeste". Heidy Motta: She works as an operations manager at MiniBoss, dealing with finance, social media and public relations, also doing public relations and social media for "Celeste
That's the clear rate for medium difficulty in SMM2 honestly, I made 2 levels trying to make them easy, but with somewhat fun platforming, and the clear rate went from 9% with my playtesters to around 1% now, and still falling, people in smm have hugely different skill levels and it really shows in the low clear rates, nothing wrong with that tho imo
Amazing level design from Matt makes Games! Truly very creative minds, I really hope Mario maker 2 helps them to inspire to create new levels for a well deserved sequel of Celeste! I truly hope the best for those guys.

That on/off spike switch reminds me of certain musical segments in Celeste. Though he was pretty merciful in these levels compared to his own game haha.

Hot Sponge crushed me in 16 hours straight. Because I couldn't figure out how to jump on enemies consecutively....Until I held the B button instead of pressing it. And that's how I cleared the level

I have the same problem. 79 thousand plays on one of these levels and my most played has 5... I feel like if you aren't a twitch streamer or content creator of some kind, your levels will go mostly ignored.

I found the alternate cheese used in the world record of the last level. You can jump back to the starting area from the Z without ditching a boot. Then, you wanna jump off of the goomba shoe at the very beginning as its jumping, ditch the boot, and just barely reach the part up top with the giant boot.

I've never played SMM but I've created a lot of SMB, SMW, and MK levels with custom textures and minor code edits to get a feel for all areas in the industry. It's amazing that The Art Institute and many other for-profit regionally accredited game design degrees actually got away with charging $70,000 to follow lesson plans regularly based on TH-cam and Vimeo's recommended videos. If you were duped by one of these phoney schools, like I was, Google the For profit debt forgiveness lawsuit and sign up! No, I'm not an ad bot or anything. I just know that both my favorite TH-cam streamer, Ryu, and the awesome platformer, Celeste, both have a huge following in these phoney schools! I wish we had Ryukhar as a spokesman! 💜
Hot sponge was my first ever Mario maker level and it took me over an hour to beat. I enjoyed every second (although I had some choose swear words for those moles). x
The fist has an incredible design, it shows the difference between an hard level, an original level, and a really good level. These are three different things.
They were so very well made levels which was to be expected coming from the creator of Celeste. Cannot wait to get a Switch and the game so I can play these great levels myself.

If SMM2 had kept the amiibo costumes, it'd be great. Those costumes really added to the gameplaypossibilities of a level, i feel like.
Their levels are clearly inspired by their work on Celeste.
Seems more likely that this is just his own creative style - evident in both Celeste and these levels
