    Last year we spent 6 months living in our dear campervan @Roxythehiace, exploring South Australia and working on an olive farm. During this time, we learnt first-hand what the most essential campervan items are, and we learnt some of these lessons the HARD WAY.
    Learn from our mistakes and start off your Australia Campervan Road Trip right!
    Have you got any other van life essentials to add to the list? Let us know in the comments section below!
    Also, read our campervan packing guide on our website - highlands2hammocks.co.uk/roadtrip-essentials/

    So glad you had such a great time here. I love my homeland too. I've done 'the lap', towing my 18' caravan but in future, I'm going to go much more simple and sleep in the back of my SUV. Hope you come back one day. Continue to love life.

    I might not be ready to buy a van... But I have figured out how to improve my little diesel ford fiesta to start my ventures next year. So long as I have a bike rack, a 'fixed' bed and a Kelly kettle I think I'm going to be fine 😂

    Thank for sharing this information. Here I am born and bred in Australia and still have not seen my beautiful country like you guys have.I would like to add one or two items to your list, both will save your life. Now either on of these will do but most people carry two. First I’d go nowhere remote without an Epirb (Emergency Position indicating Radio Beacon). There around $300+ but what’s your life worth to you. That question is a no brainer. Second is a Satellite phone. Not everywhere do you have reception. Though the phone is a lot more expensive, $1000+ and I think you need a different contract. But you may face rescue costs as well. Possibly for any type of rescue, Eg. Ambulance, fire, police, this I’m not to sure of. Look into all three. I do know ambulance have memberships in some states. Cheers.

      @highlands2hammocks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude this advice is AMAZING! Thank you for watching and even more so for your input. We reckon we will definitely invest in a EPIRB or something similar for when we get back to Australia and plan on heading into more remote areas.

    Yesterday I saw your new video upload at night. Unfortunately, I was using a mobile phone to watch the translation machine. I came to watch and reply early. I feel that the great video is very practical. Can you ask me a question, why do you always upload once a week, if more frequent, you can add more traffic and fans? You don’t have many fans, but every video is very good. You can see that you love life and desire freedom. This spirit is very great. In addition, without your authorization, I download your videos every week to the video collection of Douyin.APP, I am very sorry. I wish you all happiness every day!

    • @highlands2hammocks
      @highlands2hammocks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your continued support! It means a lot to us that you come back to watch more of our videos. How do you find the translation software does with our accents? Also I appreciate your honesty! We are both currently working 45hr a week jobs, running the website, working on social channels and editing these videos, so right now one a week is all we can manage I'm afraid haha! Once we hit the road again we aim for a lot more, but until then you can follow us on insta for more content 😀

      I usually use youtube's own machine translation but the translation effect is very poor. Of course, google is also a very great company. There is a Chinese translation function on the youtube website, including communicating with you also through the online translation function of the google website, allowing me to I have the opportunity to express what I want to tell you. At the same time, there is a powerful company called Netease in our country. The translation accuracy of its website translation is very high, which makes us very good friends apart from each other. Many thanks to these technology developers, their work has been very good. I will upload a higher-quality translation of your video starting today, and I look forward to your new road trip. Oh, yes, I might write another article. You only have a few hundred fans. Every video I made is very conscientious. We have some videos in China just to make money for traffic, and the quality of the videos we shoot is not too much. Your serious attitude in shooting VLOG is worthy of our study. Thank you very much for sharing.
      When the time comes, my article will be shown to you, and some pictures in your video may be intercepted. Please authorize, thank you.

    Hi, this is such a great video :) . How much did the van cost and how much did it cost to run?

    • @highlands2hammocks
      @highlands2hammocks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! The van coast us 5000$ (a little too much in hindsight and I wish we had negotiated a bit better..), the van conversion coast us about another 1000$ and the running cost is very low, with only really petrol costing us anything 😀

    • @highlands2hammocks
      @highlands2hammocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funnily enough when I made this video I was working 50 hours a week in healthcare in the uk 😊 before we went to Australia we saved for 2 years and just before we bought this van we worked backpacker jobs for another 6 months to save up. We live within our means, plan ahead for what we need to save and aim for a target that will allow us to do the things we enjoy doing.

      @@highlands2hammocks I've always been of the mind that I work to live, not the other way around. Many people talk the talk and bang on about doing things and never achieve any goals or dreams.
