Teach Yourself Ukulele Using The Daily Ukulele. Great Idea! Wow!
Good morning. Yellow Book is wonderful as are the many TH-cam tutorials and web sites with ukulele song charts. Thank you for the video. Rick
So far every song we've checked that our ukulele group plays is in the first Daily Ukulele book. I can pencil in the few differences needed to play the songs. Thanks, Rick. Rich
"The Daily Ukulele Book"
is great as a repository of many beginner songs a person new to ukulele will want to play.
But, I do & did not find
that format of sheet music is helpful for me to learn. I had purchased a book similar to "The Daily Ukulele Book" It was not helpful to learn. I can not read music. I do not want to see
the notes on the music staff.
I need & much prefer what I believe is called the tablature format.
Each page of music shows just the name of
chords played & placed where in lyrics you play them.
On top of page is chord diagram
for how to play each chord needed for that particular song.
I needed TH-cam tutorials to teach me how to play specific songs. Then when I am practising on my own, I use sheet music in tablature format.
That is how I learned & still follow when playing ukulele.
Whatever you are doing is obviously working for you. I know you don't use a music stand so you probably don't want to play from a big book. Playing tabs is different from what you describe. You are playing chords and have no use for individual notes, which is what tabs provide. When I first saw the Daily Ukulele books, and for years afterward, they were a bit daunting. Now I appreciate the benefit of seeing individual measures and notes. I really see the benefit of having all my songs in one book that I don't have to print. I see that a person can start with easy songs in Daily Ukulele and can learn as they go. If you have a method you love, you are free not to use my suggestion. My very best to you, Phyllis. We all learn and enjoy ukulele in our own ways. Rich
