@@CodgerBiker I have a 2021 690 R and I love it! I did a review of it on Reddit and talked about the things that I liked and the things that I don't, I have already corrected some of the things that I didn't like, so it's a near unicorn.
I always pre-charge the closed end filter with oil to reduce dry time for the engine on start up. Surprising how much oil it will soak up. To a lesser degree I do the other as well but not so easy as it is open both ends.
Hello brother Scotty ;-) On the oil filter I use a drywall or a wood screw & tap it with a hammer, then screw it in a little then you have something grab onto. Are you still loving the K4 fairing?
Thanks for tip. That was going to be my next try if the hook failed, good to know it works. I really do love the K4. I could not see the bike without it now. 👍
I'm thoroughly enjoying your no nonsense videos, so please apologies if this has been asked before. Would you be happy to take this on a leisurely, a and b-roads tour through France or Scandinavia, for example?
Hello, thanks for watching. If I was younger then no problem. It'll do those roads all day long. See the 'Stinky Boots' channel. They took a pair all over Europe.
Hello. At the time I could not get a free one online. Weird because I found earlier models and other, newer KTM, for free. So I bought a download from eBay. It is fine. Hope that helps 👍
It’s the nut. Softish alloy. If mechanic tightens them too much they round really easily when loosening then it’s a problem. I undid these the day I got the bike and torqued to spec to be sure. Okay once released, it’s just that initial twist needs to be square on, and a good tight socket. I noticed the new ones looked like they had a small amount of blue threadlock (at least that’s what it looked like) maybe that causes the initial ‘bind’. Others say they self tighten in use. I think I was probably just unlucky one time with an overly enthusiastic mechanic. Best to be aware though as it’s a simple job otherwise.
Motorex as in the video. The first service was done by the dealer, so I guess they did. There’s no need to really as you can just clean them. I decided to do an interim oil change as I was going on a trip and the bike has spent a lot of time standing due to many many lockdowns. Probably not needed, but better to be safe as this bike is a keeper for me. 👍
The piece of wire to remove filter- brilliant
It did the job - cheers! 👍
I'm planning on doing my first oil change by myself. Thanks for the pointers.
Make sure to check the book, I try to follow it as best I can - good luck. Thanks for watching 👍

It’s that kinda bike. You can make it your own. 👍

Great video CB
I didn't change my screens last oil change but I'm gonna get the kit you had so I can change the o rings as well 👍
I think they are pretty durable. But as they were in the kit 👍
Maybe a nice tip for you too; Pirate racing. He advices the Motul 300V 15W60 Offroad for the 690.
Cheers!

@@CodgerBiker many thanks indeed.
Hi mate, do you remember where you got your downloadable workshop manual from? I've this job to do on my 2020 701 this weekend.

@@CodgerBiker Hi mate, that's great thank you. I'll have a trawl of eBay now and see what's there but thanks for your help 👌
Nicely done sir 👍🏼
Cheers👍 Those screens always give me the jitters, softer than Mr Softy 😁

Hey up codger, what old did you use and did you change the screens and filter on the first 500mile old change?
