Thank you this video was extremely informative. It will help me transition to now using Teams for project management needs. Please keep posting these videos you have a high level of experience that can help lots of people like myself
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! I'll be sharing more best practices with managing projects, so definitely stay subscribed to my TH-cam Channel!
Very comprehensive video and easy to understand. My biggest qualm with adopting this is the fact that Planner cannot handle more in depth projects. It'd be great if you could explain how you would handle one of these type of projects!
@Mikey J, using the Planner Software definitely has limitations, and primarily is for smaller projects (based on my own experience). When I manage much larger projects, I'll either use MS Project or our organization's Project Management Software System. Great video idea, I'll add it to a future video
@Jordan Norr, really glad you found the video helpful! MS Teams is a great tool to use if your organization uses it as their instant messaging & communication platform. I'll share future tutorials with how to use Microsoft Project and Excel, so stay tuned!
Great Video and great process suggestions. I'm wondering if you know of a setting that is preventing me from creating a unique Planner within each channel? Created Team>>Created 2 additional channels>> Channel 1>>Add Tab>> Planner doesn't appear as an option. It only presents as an option when I'm in the General Channel? Hopefully I'm wording this correctly.
Many thanks, I am going to implement all of this! Quick Q - how do I cusomize the top bar please? I can drag stuff around, but I dont know how to get a new widget thingy, like upload, etc., many thanks. Really useful channel.
Awesome video. I use Microsoft teams to manage the finance team and our projects. It's been a game changer to have everything in one place and also to have an audit trail of completed tasks. I want to start using it for mini project planning. Someone else created the channel, but for some reason I can't filter one "words". In my other channels, I can filter "ABC", but on this channel I can only filter on due date, priority, labels, etc...? Any idea what the issue can be?
None, I actually wouldn’t use channels for projects as channels cannot be archived, whereas the Team can. Using the Team as the project also follows Microsoft ‘flat architecture’ best practice around Teams and SharePoint. So, by all means follow the advice in the video as some of it is great, but don’t use channels for your projects as they can’t be archived and there is a limit as to how many channels you can have in a single Team.
why does my screen look different. I don't have the options you have when you start a post I only have 3 options at the bottom, emojis, loop components and search for actions and apps
Hey Alvin, Nice demonstration. Can we download the entire work as Word or Excel, we have to maintain the progress and other deliverables as a document for review and other purposes, right? Is there any possibility to export or download this details?
Really glad you found the video helpful, Ahsan! When you open up your organization's Planner app using tasks.office.com, you'll see a header menu for "Grid, Board, Charts, Schedule, etc". In this header menu, you can select the option to "Export plan to Excel."
@@alvinthepmofficial Do you have a video that shows how the files uploaded into the planner are accessible through SharePoint? This is critical for me because I want to be able to open files directly on my PC (not through a browser) without having to download or upload them. I run OneDrive, which sync's the files from my PC to Sharepoint, and I don't want to create an entirely new directory structure somewhere else to keep the exact same files. I'm new to teams and have the same question there. Project files need to live on Sharepoint now buried in a project schedule or teams discussion.
Is there any solution for if a team member accidentally deletes or completes a task and doesn’t notice? Then it could potential cause a big problem if that important task gets missed
@alvinthepmofficial - thanks for making this video..A query: How to manage approval process through MS Teams ? For example when we reach a particular milestone and respective owner has to approve officially to move further, can we do it in Teams ??
Hey Alvin, Thanks for the tutorial - very clear and helpful! I plan on creating multiple channels for each of our projects - is there a way to have a gantt view across all channels for the projects? Cheers, Brett
@Brett, I'm so glad you found the tutorial helpful! I haven't yet found a way to do a Gantt view across all channels. If you find a way to do that, let me know because I'd also be interested.
Great content. However, it is absolutely unnecessary to block out names. No one really care and there’s really nothing to screen out. It screwed up the visual.
@@alvinthepmofficial I think what this person meant to say is that you didn't show how to get the Microsoft teams, like how to install or download it. I personally would like to know because I like practicing while learning please.

You created a channel but didn't show step-by-step instructions.
Very helpful video, thank you

Great job easy to follow cheers
Thanks 👍 Really glad it helped out!
great but in teams PLANNER Icon doesn't showed up, any idea?
Go to "Apps" and then search for Planner.
Is there a way that I can duplicate the project plan to each of the projects? so we dont need to start from stretch for each proj?
@6:00 You could use a Loop Component for the Action Items.
Super, thank you 🎉. I'll be reading this again.

Is it possible to feed the kanban from an excel sheet ?
That would be very useful
I haven't tried that yet, but it might be possible. If you find out, feel free to let me know!

What are the downsides of making each project a separate Team? I have many large projects.

Anyway to add dependencies or precedessors to the tasks?
Do you know if this works for Teams for Mac or the online version of Teams?
@Ken MPA, I primarily use the Windows Desktop Teams App, but I believe this should also work for the online version as well.

It's very likely that Microsoft has made some minor UI updates since I filmed this video
if i downloaded a slide from the teams that can see the owner of the slide?
First question before start using it. Can I save a 5TB data in Microsoft Teams for 5 years?
Dpends on your company's policy

for some reason i only have 'start a post' as an option, not 'start conversation'
our company policy will delete team messages after 72 days, will after 72 days everything will get deleted ?
