The welcome / user screen would still be needed. Consider the case where two users with their own key fobs with them enter the car, how can the car know who is driving? Sure, one user can be the one who pressed the unlock button on their key fob but if the doors were unlocked by key fob proximity, it's not deterministic/clear whose fob triggered the unlock.
If this shows up to be a real problem, it can still be an option you can enable to ask for the user who is driving each time. Most of the time, it’s the same driver as anytime before.
My Skoda Karoq from 2025 does this. My wife has a Skoda Connect account as well and it is connected to her physical key. The way it works to make this connection is get in the car, switch to the account you want to connect the key to, do all your settings, get out of the car and lock the car with the key you want to connect to it. After that it works like a charm. When I open the car on the drivers side it shows and changes everything to me, when my wife enters the ar on the drivers side here settings are applied (seat, mirrors, virtual cockpit, entertainment system).
It's funny that my former VW Sharan from 2011 had an app, where I coulf follow the car, and see a log of all previous routes, that the car had driven. I would love to have that back in my ID.7-app. Thank you for great videos!
Yeah my Superb had that too, so crazy functionality to be able to see your consumption... further more in my superb the app worked, currently in my id.7 the app works for like 15minutes after locking and then nothing, no connection. This car is a mess
Doesn’t work in the UK, just added my wife and i am not able to see anything, “currently limited mobile online services”. I can’t add a screenshot here to show you
So far it doesn't seem to work on our ID.3 Pro S 2022 in Czech Republic either (Firmware 3.7+). I'm yet to find anyone confirming it now works on their car.
I have the possibility to follow my ID.3 model 2021 and see any route the car has driven. This includes logs of all previous rutes. My car is imported from Germany to Denmark and to begin with it wasn't possible for me to see the information, but then I contacted the VW car dealer and had a dongle installed for free and an account on myVolkswagen activated. After that I can see all the routes and logs as mentioned with the myVolkswagen application. I miss a list of information and possibilities still in that app, but in the Volkswagen app I can set i.e. preheating. I haven't found the place where to see if the car is locked or windows are closed and more. I'm not sure what is possible.
I have a Skoda Karoq 2025, no EV, but I already could add another user (not guest) in my system. My wife has her own account on Skoda Connect and the settings of her account are also synced and connected to her physical key. She cannot see the same options in the MySkoda app, so that might change. She cannot do open/close the car for example. Maybe this will also change for Skoda now it is changed for VW.
@@simondehaas8784 I also have an "old" ID model ('22 ID4 GTX now with SW 3.7) and received VW's email advising me of these feature updates coming online "as of 22 January". As the limited app features available have been a major annoyance to me since taking delivery of the car I have been "testing" their availability since yesterday, only to be disappointed to see that they are not. Have others in the same situation and in the UK market found the same thing?
@poseiidon2029 they aren't in base id.3 though. For the id.7 the would do well to also hide the reversing camera in the logo like that id.3. Also UPGRADE THE FAMN CAMERAS, my 2003 phones camera looked better.
@@MaartenKrijn They’re not backlit in the 2024 base ID.3? My 2024 ID.5 Match Pro has backlit controls. Yes they totally should’ve put the reversing camera inside the badge like on my Golf, I’m sick of having to wipe that thing.
If they could remove the automatic accelleration when rolling to a stop with automatic hold for real one pedal driving, like every other EV has, or at least make requiring to tap the brakes optional via a setting that would be an update! When pressing nothing the car should eventually come to a safe state by default, but not for the innovators of VW it seems.
@@moskaljakunagyljaku I see, but is the behavior that it accellerates by it self how you want it? Do you not want it to stop without hitting the brake ever? I really'd like to know!
@@perchte yes, I want the car to behave as any other automatic fossil car. I drive ev, diesel auto and manual as well regularly, so cars like tesla are not acceptable for me

Now if they would only assign different users to different keyfobs, and get rid of the welcome / user screen ..

Still no news about the new version of the software? For the id 7

Also the car is now back home and parked , but I can’t access anything as i need to log in ? Not super impressive in my opinion
Do any of the ID7 variants have a white/cream/pale grey etc. headliner, or can you have any colour as long as it's black?

I do wish that all those car apps wasn't so heavy. Lots of bugs and slowy in almost anything 😑
Woo hoo first like and first comment !
ID7 to be delivered next week and charger being installed as we speak !
Be prepared for frustration
@batterylife you have a connection with your car? Thats magicsl my id.7 never has connection any more. This car is sad.
Does this work also on the old id.3 Models (Old Hardware+Software3.7)?
That would be amazing!
Test it and find out 😊

They should have done something about the unlit heating controls. This is dangerous when driving at night !
