- Is it a hedgehog? Is it a porcupine? No, it's an echidna!
These spiky ant-eaters are usually solitary creatures, but the combination of mating season and a film crew in their territory seems to give them a boost of social confidence.

On every continent, in every ocean, conquering frozen landscapes and searing deserts - mammals are everywhere. Sir David Attenborough reveals the ingenuity behind their success. The series also highlights many of the challenges facing mammals in a rapidly changing world and how they endeavour to overcome them.

Cameraguy: "Echidnas are very elusive and skittish, we might not even get to see them."
Echidna: "Aight boiii, show us what you got in them bags."
I’m Australian and have seen maybe 6 of them in the wild in the last 30 years. Usually when they are crossing a road.
I stop my car and put my hazard lights on and then get out to try and move them on back towards the bush. I don’t think they are always shy and wary of humans. Most of the ones I’ve found were unbothered by my presence. They even seemed a bit annoyed that I was trying to tell them which way to go.
I just didn’t want them wandering back onto the road.
They are funny little creatures,
Definitely among my favourites of the wildlife here as well as wombats and the rare platypus sighting.
Yet to see a koala in the wild funnily enough.
Then again I don’t spend much of my time in gumtrees 😂
Maybe he thought the Master Emerald was in the bag, or some grapes. He treated Sonic and Tails as enemies because Robotnik brainwashed him
The assistant producer’s enthusiasm added a nice touch
So cute 🥰 they come to snuggle the bag lol 😂 2:53
Oh they're so precious I love them
Off the scale cute❤
These behind the scenes videos are amazing. Thank you for sharing them.
Fantastic video, commentary, & footage! Also, did not previously know what the word besotted meant so also learned a bit of vocabulary as well as information about echidnas. Very cool that the echidnas came so close!
Delightful video. I really hope to see more of these cuties in future videos. 🙏🕊️🤍
Evolution via natural selection is an amazing, amazing process.
Knuckles, is that you? :D

Echidnas are a bit of a favourite here. They're very sweet little creatures.

Here I come/ tougher than the rest of them/ the best of them/ tougher than leather
I had 5 acres in Macedon Rangers, Vic. One afternoon while we were having lunch by the dam, we had one of these gorgeous mammals come up to us, played a bit of hiding seek and then literally walked right past my shoe. Pretty sure it was a young Echidna I also got to video it doing all this.
Perfectly charming video. Thank you!
Absolutely adorable, thank you very much
Echidnas🦔🦔🦔 look cute to me. I would like to see them on the spot of the zoo or the wildlife center there when I come to Australia 🌏🦘🌲🦜🌳🐨 🇦🇺 for my southern hemisphere or down under summer 🌞🌊🐳🏖️ 🌴holiday in December this year. Hello from Otto of Bonn &: Frankfurt Germany 🏰 🇩🇪

Echidnas are TOTALLY BRILLIANTLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of months ago I had to save one walking across the busy road here in Sydney suburbs. Those spikes are really sharp!. We also have a big wallaby that comes in our back yard every other day. And we live in the north shore of Sydney!.
Helo tuyệt vời quá ❤❤❤
We encountered an echidna crossing the road near bendigo behind a shopping centre, twice.

So, a pin drop could ruin everything prepared ..
I thought it was hot, yet the camera crew is fully decked out in winter gear 🤔
Knuckles
Wait they lay EGGS????!!
I find it odd that Echidnas are not genetically similar to Hedgehogs.
We live in a rural area and see them a lot. But it is sad to see them flattened on the road because other drivers don't stop to let them cross roads. But that is also a problem with other wildlife. You find that even with the number of kangaroos that get wiped out.
