It's almost the completely opposite of how comfortably uncomfortable (or uncomfortably comfortable) guests get on Hot Ones.
@@pedro5k2 Different style. The Graham Norton clips are great, but the guests are more joking around, while Sam Jones has more of a heart-to-heart kind of chat.
Michael Kwan yeah, different styles, in Graham Norton i feel like its a party between the guest and host and they are just chatting, Sam Jones has a more heart to heart conv. I remember Matt Damon saying in Graham Norton that it was the best time he ever had in a talkshow!
He’s so lucky to have had a true friend by his side going through this journey.. I’ll tell you as an actor in LA going through the rejection, rejection, rejection that Matt was talking about and not having a true close friend next to you to commiserate with or to be your champion when you feel like you want to give up... it’s tough.
Just went through your channel and wanted to say that you’ve done and are doing awesome stuff my friend. At times we can feel hopeless chasing our dreams, but believe me when I say that the universe has your back, especially when fully immersing yourself in the pursuit of a dream. Just keep on moving, keep on growing. Eventually all of the time and effort put into it will manifest into whatever you’ve envisioned or maybe even more. And if it doesn’t, as Mandy Patinkin said, “The beauty of life is that we got to try.” I like to believe that maybe it’s life pointing in another direction. Just remember that whatever you do, wherever you go, it’s not about arriving at a destination, but enjoying the journey. Never resist what life throws at you, instead go with the flow of things. Treat obstacles as opportunities to grow as opposed to these insurmountable problems and see how things will start to appear as if they are magically working with you. But it’s not magic.. it’s just you being at ease with whatever arises! You’ll soon start to see what you previously called “problems” as mere events in life that require a certain action or inaction. All you have to do is completely accept either result that comes from making either choice!

You're absolutely correct my friend...and I never plan on stopping or giving up because acting is the only thing I've ever wanted to do. It's my calling and I will keep trying until my dying breathe to achieve my dreams.

I was nodding when Matt was talking about rejection. My dad's a writer. He collected over two hundred rejection letters for one property recently, and hit an even higher tally last year for another. Rejection in Life hurts. We all go through it. But I think that artists have to contend with it on an entirely different level. That doesn't mean I'm saying they're special for that alone. But there's no question to me that artists do suffer for their art. If only in an "OK, thanks" sort of way.
It's not often you see such strong and legit friendships in Hollywood, so great to watch such a positive message
what he describes "Ok Thanks" is what I feel on interviews in corporate jobs. Total gut punch.
Matt & Ben....Childhood friends. Supporting each other. Standing by each other's side when one gets hired over the other. Sharing oscar winning film roles together. Showing love for each other in unrelated interviews to this day... The list must surely go on, beyond anything we are aware of. How lucky are those two brilliant, humble, funny and caring humans?! 🙏🏻
this channel should have more subs, the interviews are great, they really get under the skin of the artists and reveal a side of them the public would never see, it brings a new level of respect to the artists, their work and their struggles to succeed in their chosen career.

Three things mentioned...Rejection. It seems to be prevalent in most artistic endeavors. Writing, dance, theater, movies all have high levels of refusal. I wonder why. Also, time taken for shooting scenes. It's an involved process of sets, lighting, etc. but seems excessive unless you're Kubrick with a huge budget. Finally, the creative process. Writing a book, a screenplay, anything imagined is a grind. Solitary or not, it involves a lot of revision and editing.The work Damon and Affleck completed showed a remarkable insight.

Just goes to show even the greats get and have faced relentless rejection! Your time will come if you never ever quit. Might be 10 years from now.. maybe 20... or even 30 but the more you try the sooner it might come. Do it bcz you love to and that will carry ypu through. Its might be the right place, the right time. What ever.. if you dont give up something has to happen sooner or later n the more you addition the greater your chances.

Love his take on the 50/50 split of the writing process. Neal Brennan has talked about how he and Dave Chappelle just say they co-wrote Half Baked and refuse to get into the details because they didn't want to be pigeon-holed by execs about which person wrote this or that.
Ben is a very gifted storyteller but his acting is decent at best and I think that’s where his weakness lies.
I actually think he is a great actor, it's his range that is lacking at times.

If a collaborator starts talking percentages before or during creation, then make them watch this. If they are still making a fuss, dump them. There's a magic to chemistry even if one person _seems_ do be doing most of the creation.

It's the only thing they've written together. I do think it was probably a way to "get a meeting". Matt has gone on to co-write 2 films and Ben has been a writer/director on 4 films, 3 based on novels by Dennis Lehane.
