great song!!thanks navid!🙏🏾🪄…i put tremolos on the phrase-beginning Gs and the folowing single upstepping Es and the melody sounds round and full, over and over…sufi trance..
Thank you for this great channel! Because I’m in a wheelchair, I need, and installed straps on all my guitars and stringed instruments. For those, and because there is no decorative cover on the sound holes, I was able to peek inside to determine the best place for the strap buttons. Any suggestions from you, or any subscribers? And because it’s a round body, I need something to keep it from “rolling” on my tummy. I don’t want my disability to stop me from learning this great instrument! Thank you, Veliko “Lee” Bekir
I can see how that would assist a lot. I don't know the ideal place for strap buttons, but I generally see them at the binding where the strips of wood meet at the back of the oud, and either behind the fingerboard on the bowl in a place where it does not interfere with your hand moving up the neck. Tying the strap to the peg box may also work, but may not be ideal. I assume your wheelchair arms are preventing you from holding the oud on your lap? In that case, I can see the strap might be the best option. But also try buying some non-slip material at your hardware store that is used under rugs or in drawers to prevent dishware from sliding. This works wonders with an oud bowl, and sticking a nice cut out of this non-slip rubber on your tummy might be all you need to help you hold the oud better.
@@OudforGuitarists Even though I didn’t explain it in perfect detail, you understood my predicament exactly. Thank you so much for your suggestion! Like we sometimes say to ourselves “Why didn’t I think of that??!!” I did buy the anti-slip mat. I fitted it over the oud and considered gluing it to the back and realized that if I just have a big enough piece, I can simply drape it on my lap and stomach and that works fine. I asked my wife if she can sew the mat so some sort of a decorative apron I can use. Thank you again for the fantastic suggestion! The next thing I will probably do is to change the pegs with guitar-geared tuners. I’ll have to do a bit of research to see what would will fit best. I hate to bother you with something else but do you have any suggestions on doing this? Thank you so much! You are very appreciated! [Personal background: I’m primarily a hobby-guitarist and play other stringed instruments. My father was Albanian and I always loved the Middle Eastern flavor of the songs he would play. The oud is such an emotional instrument. At age 71, I finally bought one from Amazon for $350 and am recording my weekly learning process)
