    This game is a Movement Shooter like Doom or Karlson. It's a first person indie game like minecraft or MINECRAFT that I didn't make in 24 hours or in one month or 1 MONTH. It's made in Unity the engine which made among us (AMONG US) and fall guys and escape from tarkov, which is also used by youtubers like Dani who make DEVLOG. It doesn't use Unreal Engine.

    looking good so far. a custom level builder would be fun for game lifespan and people love to make extremely difficult levels so that would be interesting.

      Yeah I totally agree, it would also add a lot of playtime to the game because one person can only make so many levels, but a whole community can give a ton of life to a game. I'll probably give an update on the level editor in the next devlog (:

    I think that adding a level editor will singlehandedly take this from a short-lived, but still amazing game, to a long-lasting community driven one. Awesome!!

    Had an idea. What if you could hold down the summon black whole button to make larger black holes with more pull? I feel that could allow for some innovative ways to beat levels and allow for more interesting level designs in the future that specifically require you to use this. I also saw on an earlier video a comment about have a black hole that pushes. Well how about that be an already in level obstacle the player has counter with their own black holes to prevent them from being pushed into spikes or something of that nature. Or maybe allow for the player to summon either a push or pull black hole later in the levels as a reward to use for the level’s afterwards.
    This is getting long I hope you read this and possibly implement it I feel each of these can allow for more interesting level design and story elements. I just happened to stumble upon your videos and am already invested.

    The black hole's light warp effect always gets me - it takes the game out of "tech demo" territory and closer to "full game" territory, even before you textured the levels!

    This game looks like it has the potential to be a cult classic for speedrunning. Can't wait to see more progress, and I just wishlisted it

    Really like the game design, encouraging players to wall run instead of simply left clicking to place black holes is proof of it. A few quick suggestions though:
    First of I think you would want to make the spikes stand out a little more from the plain walls just so you’re able to see avoid them right as you see them (although having the spikes blend in, forcing players to react quickly isn’t a bad idea either)
    Second suggestion: Another way to encourage players to utilize the wall run mechanic is to make them FEEL like they’re gaining speed. A cool little visual effect or a sound effect should give the feel.
    That’s it from me, doing good on development!

    (not sure if someone's suggested this yet but) suggestion: time trials with a leaderboard of the global fastest times.
    Also it would be cool to have a practice map, like that open world of pillars in your earlier devlogs.

    A quick restart button would be neat to have, easy thing to implement. A speed running game neon white has that and it feels so much better than going into a menu and pressing restart which can kill the rush sometimes

      @nivmiz0 sweet, as I was watching the video my only thing I was going to suggest was a level editor but you're already on that lmao. Maybe you can add moving obstacles as well, or breakable walls that only break when you use the black hole on them...
      Actually stealing another idea from neon white, you could add secret collectibles in your levels. Stuff that maybe unlock a bit of lore or something

    I have a few ideas:
    - Speed debuff for hitting the ceiling
    It seems like it’s very easy to maintain momentum in the stretch hallways by chaining wall runs near the ceiling. Players would have to risk losing momentum near the floor or have the black holes drag them through easily with less top speed.
    - Slide mechanic
    In tandem with the ceiling debuff, players might feel better having a “get out of jail free card” with a slide. I think gaining momentum is too OP, but maintaining momentum might work, or having momentum slightly decrease. You could make it a skill mechanic if the input is timing based, or you could do something like “knee-pad durability” to make sure players don’t abuse it, say 3 uses per level. It would also allow players to string movement off the ground, but I understand trying to keep them in the air.
    - Floor is Lava/Hard modifier
    Touching the ground is an immediate wipe.
    - Higher contrast obstacles
    TH-cam compression probably doesn’t help, but spotting black spikes on a brown background is tough, let alone with speed and fog working against you. I know it’s early, but maybe get creative and have them be anti-matter walls or something. You could even give them a special shader or animation to add to the effect. Either way, I think they would benefit from higher contrast from the level.

    I would love to see the implementation of white holes, instead of black holes for extra difficulty, I have 3 ideas for this.
    1. The ability to change deployed black holes into white holes, and make it so that if you don't do so, the black holes suck you in and possibly either kill the player or reset their momentum entirely
    2. A stage hazard that the player would have to bypass by using their own black holes
    3. An extra movement option
    side not, I know white holes can't theoretically exist but would be cool

    The game looks amazing so far and the speed of the game's developing is surprisingly fast as well considering that it's a solo project.
    There's some feedback and a few tips i could give you, like when i imagine "sewers", i would see more circular passage ways and some paths blocked by iron bars. You should also definitely add a visual cue to whenever the blackhole is reusable like a cooldown bar of sorts.

    i have an idea: if you get too close to the black hole, you die and theres a special death animation. would make the game much harder and you could make different game difficulties with the hardest of them having that feature.

    I think you should add animations for the portals and other characters to fight with that blackholes can suck em up, if it isnt possible pls tell me why

      Oh yeah totally! I love it when simple mechanics can lead to depth and there are a bunch of techniques you can use to gain speed that aren't exactly intended. Hope you guys will discover some crazy glitches and stuff as well!

    I wonder if timed traps would be good because player would have to slow down beforehand so they time it right when the trap stops or opens up like in some other games with either crushers or flamethrowers

    It looks great but I think the sewer needs more sewer vibes and the cyberpunk level needs a speed boost or a very risky shortcut

    yo, why the spikes same color as the background tho? It might be good to add blood at the end of the spikes or some other visual indicator so that its obvious there are spikes on the wall on the first playthrough

    the more i look at it the better it gets but you should REALLY add a velocity counter on the bottom left or right would br nice to see because i cant seem to know if you go fast or not in this game thank you.

      Oh, the velocity meter is currently in the top left, but once I properly do the UI I'll put it on the bottom

    The brown hexagonal pattern's normal map looks too deep in my opinion. When the texture on a flat surface has this much depth, it doesn't really sell the effect and looks too much like a cheap tiling pattern slapped onto a surface. (which it is of course and nothing wrong with that, but you gotta hide it)

      Yeah cause the lack of hawking radiation is the most unrealistic part about summoning a miniature black hole that pulls you forward hehe

    Maybe u can add to the editor objects that are just for decoration so people can make realy detailed levels, there is a game called geometry dash and it has a realy good level editor, so maybe you can get some inspiration from it
