      Im in exactly the same boat, been working on CAD/Sketchup for years and they say you need to unlearn what you've learned to be able to do Revit, hench why I was always scared of exploring this beast but the more you get the hang of it the easier it becomes. Especially self tough becomes cloudy sometimes, your video put me at ease!!

    Architecture Masters student here! Thank you for these tutorials! I am in a program that accepts students who don't have a background in architecture, and I find it daunting how they don't require us to learn revit, but expect us to magically know it. I have a background in construction among other things so I've learned different software. Thanks for these tutorials! They've probably saved my grade! Cheers!

May you Kyle Sinko be blessed more. More Power to you and thank you for this effort to be an instrument to those people who at first afraid of this software. I used Sketch up back in uni for my projects (8years ago) and I couldn't get understand the hype around Revit. Well that was until i decided to teach myself n use it for my fourth year final project. It was so simple to understand and efficient. Wish I had something like this to keep me from guessing functions. I'll keep watching though. I could learn something new.

    Kyle, i want to say thank you for uploading this series of Revit Tutorials. Being a floor & truss designer, i am trying to learn Revit so i can start designing homes for myself. One question i had tho, was the 1st height. I noticed you mention the porch/front entrance being 0mm but then the 1st level being 1400mm which was based off 7 (200mm) risers. At 21:22 you can see the floor plan & it shows 4 risers up to the landing/ 1st level. That being said , the 1st floor is actually 800mm above the front entrance. Let me know if i am understanding this correctly. I would greatly appreciate your response. Thank you nonetheless. Love from Canada 🇨🇦

    For New Builds, all the dimensions will be provided right? I'm on 26:52, where you are mentioning estimations of an already existing building.

    I had a question in the roof part -
    Why not just take the wall height on the center towards the ridge and give it maybe 10/15 degree slope (by assuming) instead of doing the other way round?

    I think another way to find the height from photo is checking the dimensions of one of the windows from the plan, scale the photo using the window as a point and measure the height

    From your experience working in a design environment, has Revit made AutoCAD obsolete? Do some Architects just design from scratch in Revit and skip AutoCAD altogether or is there still value in building floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD and then importing them to Revit? Thanks for the videos, they are great!

    • @kylesinko
      @kylesinko  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question Stephen! AutoCAD is absolutely obselete in the architectural world. There are some professions that still use it (contractors, surveyors, engineers, etc) that you'll have to incorporate in your Revit project but all your work can and should be done in Revit for a smoother workflow. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
