i absolutely love this tune!!went through a really bad time in life,me and my girlfriend both went through shit and now listening to this song sums us up in one....just loving it!!!!!!!THERE IS A LIGHT AND IT NEVER GOES OUT
Comments below are bollox, you are all miss guided the Smiths are far better and if you listen to Noel Gallagher he would tell you the same, he loves this song and worships Johny Marr.
Me as well, I highly disliked how over-played wonderwall by oasis is but this is a pretty fine cover :) and I seen some of Noels solo stuff, I enjoy him much more now
When noel comes out with his solo we find out who really was the heart of Oasis. Im rooting for Noel!! lol. liam was such a douche to him they shouldn't get back together (unless they both REALLY suck without eachother) which i doubt will happen. GO NOEL!
I think it sounds like Noel. Yeah, Oasis is all Noel, but when solo, Noel doesn't sound like Oasis. I mean, Oasis is pure brit 90's rock, and NGHFB songs are more instrumental, we hear this orchestra playing along with him. He has his own style, and it's divine.
Noel loves this song, and he's proud of his cover. The Smiths are sacred to him and when I listen to him play I hear that it's with his own feeling and interpretation that he has formed with the many times he has listened to it. It's nice to see a great artist appreciate another.
I am crying. The lyrics are perfect. The music is perfect. The voice is perfect. It all feels right. This makes me so sad yet happy at the same time. Very romantic and depressing... Noel's voice makes me emotional more than anyone else's could. Forever love love love this cover🌿❤
it's the saddest song ever but wonderfully beautiful. Noel not only sings perfectly his songs and covers, but he has his way to feel the music he plays. Some people tried to criticize oasis on the meaning of their songs, saying their lyrics were poor, but those people don't know that music's mainly made for creating feelings to the audience no matter how "philosophical" the lyrics can be
Noel cover version ate actually superior to the original. Genius Songwriter Noel. Also listen to OASIS covers of HEY HEY MY MY NEIL YOUNG COME ON FEEL THE NOISE OTORPUSSY GARDEN ALL BETTER THSN ORIGONALS
Exactly. You would struggle to top the original because it's one of the best songs by one of the best bands of all time but as far as Smiths covers go, this is as good as it gets.
Strings are genius additions to an already great song. I love the original best (of course), but if you are going to do a cover you should be able to add something to song. I think Noel has been successful.
If people want to know where this is from; it's from the live album 'The Dreams We Have As Children' by Noel Gallagher in the Royal Albert Hall. It was released in 2009 and it's a really good album, I really recommend checking it out!
Indeed and came out as one of those mid way between analogue and digital period free with the Sunday 'paper's . If i recall, I have a copy myself... did something worthwhile 😊🎶
I love The Smiths , but the version of Noel "make me feel better", his voice is something magnificent. He makes me better appreciate this beautiful song .
Not sure why releasing it or doing it in a gig is any more relevant. He covered it. He covered it really well. What difference it makes that it wasn't released I don't know... noel has covered some amazing songs over the years, many of them in live, intimate surroundings.
Gallagher really puts emotion in this song, honestly it's an amazing cover and I'm sure the aul smiths would be proud to here their song covered in such a beautiful manner :)

brilliant cover from a man who loves the smiths. don't know why people are saying the smiths version is better, of course it's better but noel didn't cover this to beat the smiths, he covered it as an acknowledgement to the smiths as they had a great influence on him.

There's not another artist that could cover a song as incredible as this one let alone add their own touch of brilliance. One of the reasons I consider Noel one of the greatest musicians of all time. The man just lives and breathes music it's a truly rare occurrence
I like it! It's definitely got that Oasis sound, and it's good. But it just doesn't have that emotionally-stimulating feeling you get when you hear The Smiths version. But of course, The Smiths were the best band to ever pick up instruments!
this was a fucking great version, made me like oasis more. dont know why therre are neg comments, his rearrangement of the vocals is fucking great.
You are kidding right?!
puhleeze, coming on so strong, you probably dont even realize moz steps on the groove. this is not only as good, but almost better except the god j marr not present.
He doesn't try to imitate Morrisey and that's great. Noel is always great.

Um dos melhores 'covers' da história.

Noel, that song, The Smiths....the perfect World!!!! I need a Beer...

Truly FUCKING AMAZING cover!
There's nothing wrong about this!
It's called Madchester for a reason music rocks !
nice cover
Noel is a genius!
This is one of my favourite songs ever and I like Noel's version though I find the music slightly drowns his voice out

like this better than the original
AlienHominid2009 Me too. I thought I was the only one.
Smiths outranks this, good cover though
AlienHominid2009 SERIOUSLY 😂😂
Decent but not a patch on the Smiths
I'd love to hear Liam sing a smiths song, maybe barbarism begins at home or what difference does it make.
Alguien me podría decir que notas usa noel en esta canción por favor??

this a very rare thing
a good smiths cover
It is too hard to cover a smiths song. They had a strange style
Sub Normal29 radiohead- headmaster ritual
its hard to sing like morrissey and it's hard to play like marr, and it doesn't help that some songs have tricky basslines as well
th-cam.com/video/LtmS2ePSSdU/w-d-xo.html another good cover
I like Haley Richman's cover of I Know It's Over.
The wailing orchestra in the background, is what makes this cover a masterpiece.
Oasis paired with strings is what makes them legends... would love to hear them do a record with just a chamber band.
It sound like Oasis song. Great cover.

Brilliant take on one of the best songs ever, true Manc greatness revisited
The best covers are always their own version I think
Noel understands music... great cover... cool as Jonny
This is a great cover. Noel Gallagher did the song justice.
When I started listening to it I thought it was crap. When it finish I was almost crying. Beautiful cover, probably the one I like the most.
lol
yeh wasn't sure at first but it gets better and better and by the end ...wow. Great cover.
If you do a cover. Pure class. And I've seen both in manchester. 1986 the smiths. 1994 oasis. Top cover. Salute!

I love Morrissey's solo cover of this in his live performances. Noel's however, is easily the best of the non-Smith covers.

Nobody could have covered this better. You can tell he's putting his heart and soul into this.
Often not spoken about in The Smiths is Andy Rourke's bass playing. A bass player is needed here
Very true
Nah! This is bliss! 😊🎶
All anyone talks about is Andy Rourke’s base playing. Let’s face it, the smiths wouldn’t have sounded that different with another bass player
Noel great song writer legend even, paying homage to an even greater being that is Morrissey.

Definitely the best cover i've heard of this song... Many artists have tried and absolutely ruined it (i.e. The Killers) well done Noel and Gem.
