    It’s a mine field out there in choosing the right paint if you’re a diy er. I wish the big manufacturers would be more honest and tell people that the retail version as opposed to the trade version is a far inferior product

    That cutting in is insane on the skirting board! Made it look easy. Did you find like some reviewers have said that the paint almost removes itself when going over the same area again (when it's all wet still)?

    • @JBTV
      @JBTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man! I didn't actually have that issue myself, maybe because after cutting in I let it dry before going over with the roller. But I know what you mean, and have that issue before, mostly with water based eggshell though...

      I have been struggling with this problem on 3in1 dulux base coat. This stuff is like cream. Try add more water to it untill consistency is more runny. That should be stated on tin tbh... Anyway we learn from experience ... That way is applying much better and you stressing less... I did for sure. Rather put more coats of this paint being diluted with water then experience such a drag with job as i just did...

    • @derbydrifter
      @derbydrifter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I'm having that trouble too. Rollering over my cutting in pulls the paint off. Even back rolling stipples and pulls the paint off. Haven't got a clue how to stop it.

      @@JBTV hi Justin.
      Just did one medium room. With magnolia. Going over a previous bog standard emulsion coat. Brand new home. Been in a year and kids have made a mess of it. Did two walls and decided on a little bit of water. I had a long nap roller do made it harder. It was bloody difficult to work with tbh and I have done tonnes of painting with my dad. It cost me a bit more time but the end finish was pretty good. There is no sheen or agine to it.
      What should I ask for if i want a bit if shine in emulsion?.
      I am happy to dork.out a bit more. For this one from b n q. I can go to a proper paint shop though. One full tin 5l gone then about 1.fifth the way though second tin. If its as tough and washable as it says?
      Guy at b n.q mentioned dulux trade. Will that be better? It was cheaper as you could buy 10l.ta

    The old ICI days of Dulux were best, tough ICI Silthane added to their paints made them incredibly long lasting and resilient to anything life and the weather could throw at it and secondly they lasted and lasted without peeling or showing signs of mould. Today the formulas for Dulux Paints are not the same as they used to be.

      no specialist here but great question, my theory is adding water would reduce any such properties in the paint there just feels no way it wouldn't and we all know 5 minutes after a paint job its going to be scuffed, scraped, knocked on the wall. I have the white dulux diamond (same as easycare) and 8 years after it does wipe down nicely without fainting still but more nastier knocks ie chair scraping against the wall that leaves a bit of a mark.

    I've tried using this paint many times and always get the same result, bad texture left on the wall!!
    It's as if it dries as soon as it's rolled on, so when you try to lay it off it leaves a stipple effect. I noticed you didn't lay it off when you rolled it on, is there a reason why you didn't? Thanks, good video!

    • @lisakendrick2948

    • @MichSouthAfrica
      @MichSouthAfrica 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our "bad texture problems" all disappeared after switching out the rollers to pro rollers, specifically designed for smoothe surfaces. Problem solved and the results are consistently amazing. Don't just invest in good paint, the brushes and rollers make a huge difference, so see them as an investment and spend the extra money. They will last longer as well, with no shedding on the walls.
      This Easycare paint is next level - even beginner jobs look professional (especially if you take the time to properly prep your walls) and it's, by far, the easiest to clean. It would take a truly miraculous paint to change our belief in this one.

    • @smithboyv1
      @smithboyv1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MichSouthAfrica I always use Hamilton perfection rollers and I have to say this makes zero difference with this paint. Short pile rollers are only good for newly plastered walls and will not hold enough paint for this type of paint as it's not flat enough to hide roller sheen, left by doing only small bits of the wall at a time if using a short pile.
      I gave up on this paint a while a go now i only use johnstones acrylic matt or tikkurila, far superior to this cheap DIY paint!

  • @anthonystuartjones
    @anthonystuartjones 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’ve been using this stuff and it’s horrible! Within 20 seconds it reacts with the Matt paint on the wall so when I go back over it the paint sticks to the roller. Found out this is common with washable paints. In the end I had little choice but to work super quick and then sand the whole wall which was a knightmare. The second coat went on okay thankfully. Nightmare paint! Look at the reviews of the easycare range. Terrible. Been a decorator for 25 years, only had one other worse paint than this. It dries really quick when you apply by brush and roller, takes it off if you go over it after only a few seconds, unless you are super quick. Do not use on matt walls as will be a nightmare for you, ok on silk walls or maybe vinyl matt (as able to stay wet)as the paint does not suck into the walls like the average contract matt base you are going to go over. Second coat of easycare goes on better as the first coat does not let the second coat dry so quickly, so stays wet and does not take it off.
    If you use this paint, beware! as you may have to sand down the first coat! dont take only my word on this paint, check out the reviews.
