Rene les dice - No, you are correct! I did forget about the Millennium. Is that the fighting game with Capcom and SNK fighters from different series? If so, I actually own it. 😂 Plus, this post was over two years ago, so I had to think for a moment, saying to myself, what the hell is this person talking about? Lol.
I was looking for this comment DARK ARMS all the way, hopefully I still have the game stored away somewhere cause I’ve been feeling nostalgic and want to play it again
The best thing about the NeoGeo pocket is ridiculous amount of good games for such a short lived console. Grab almost anything released for it and you'll be fine.
+andyukmonkey The NGPC Was never going to be a serious contender to the Game Boy, but I do think that they pulled the plug on it far too early. Most of the game library was fairly solid, and a lot of games started showing the potential of the system near the end of its life.
Juganawt Actually, it gave the GBC a fair competition on it short life span, at least in Japan. However, due to poor marketing outside Japan, it flopped massively and never got more than 2% of the market. That's also another reason why SNK went the route they went back then.
Loved this system, one of my favourite handhelds ever, never saw several those games in the wild though. Cardfighters Clash was indeed the best game to come out of the SNK/Capcom partnership. Had I made this list I probably would have included more fighters...KoF, Samurai Shodown, I played them all endlessly. And Biomotor Unitron was really memorable, but short. I truly wish we'd gotten the sequel in the West.
The Neo Geo Pocket Color is an underappreciated handheld. In my opinion, it was the Sega Genesis to the Game Boy Color's Super Nintendo. What I mean by that is that the NGPC is more geared towards an older audience, while the Game Boy Color is more geared towards a younger audience. And speaking of Sega, Sonic Pocket Adventure was the game that made me purchase an NGPC.
I wish that I could have a NGPC with a more modern screen. Watching this video makes me want to play the games on my NGPC, but in the dark with a crisp looking screen.
+WelcomToTheNextLevel I still think that SNK prematurely killed off the NGPC. It was just starting to pique people's interests when they pulled the plug and recalled all stock.
Apparently you didn't know in Delta Warp to use the A/B buttons to rotate into adjacent spaces instead of flipping. That's how you clear clusters of deltas that are the same color.
As I don't speak Japanese, and I'm only counting retail releases in these lists, I couldn't justify adding the second game (translations and home brew will have separate lists). Personally, I think the original game is also the better of the two.
+John Marcolini Thanks! Hunting for NGPC is a really enjoyable experience - especially if you choose to collect the European clamshell cases! It's cheap, too... for the most part.
+Juganawt i'm pretty unfamiliar with the NGPC, ive heard good things about it and saw a video from Game Sack about the system and a few noteworthy titles, i have to say that i like what i'm seeing from the lesser known handheld.
Magical Drop is by no means a bad game. It's really fun, but there are only 20 places available, and I had other games I liked more that I had to fill those spots with.
I loved playing as the little pink-haired girl. After you beat the eunuch, there is dialog that was translated so he actually swears at her. Apparently the ESRB missed that when rating the game.
Great console. So glad it's finally starting to get the respect it deserved! I was lucky enough to get the European editions back in the day with the full plastic game cases. I was also lucky enough to pick up Failei! and Last Blade just before original SNK pulled the plug. Great times in the days mobile phone games just weren't there yet
nice, i bought this system myself and i love it, got some rare games for cheap, if i may ask, what emulator was used for filming this? i have yet to find a good emulator for this system
+emptyspotlight unfortunately there is no really good emulator for Neo Geo Pocket Color, but I recorded footage with NeoPop. It's probably the best emulator out of the bunch, but has compatibility and graphics / sound issues.
great list!! when I saw SNK v Capcom at 2 I was like, 1 better be cardfighters if MotM was 2 lol. so happy to see gals fighters on there, only wish R2 made it too XD
I'll definitely be making a Neo Geo AES/MVS list! Some of the best Arcade games of all time were on Neo Geo hardware! To be honest, I don't think I'll be covering Neo Geo CD though, as there were only 5 exclusive games released for it and a couple of companion discs. I have one and I love it (especially the controller) but there just isn't enough to make it stand out from the AES and justify its own list.
Okay, cool, looking forward to it! Any idea where one can get Neo Geo CD games for a fair price? For example, if I got one, I'd love to play Metal Slug on it, but the price is really steep on eBay...
+TheZealousBanjo unfortunately, if you want to play Metal Slug, the cheapest way is to grab a Wii and the Metal Slug Anthology collection. The NG and NGCD versions of Metal Slug cost a ton - I got my NG MVS copy at a "bargain" price of £150
to anyone wanting to play ngp but cannot find or afford one. pirate bay has Android ngp emulator download with 300+ roms. I use steel series and MOGA control for it. works good!!!😄
shogun racing movement Dont try to tell people about emulators. They will treat you like u shat on their ancestors grave. I think emulators are great. i love em. Thats why im here to get roms for my emu
shogun racing movement You can get a Neo Geo Pocket for cheap nowdays. Just don't expect it to be brand new. Also you can get the games pretty cheap too, if you buy those 4 pack blisters for around $25.
Tray G To be fair, they might actually shit on his ancestor's graves given that some of these evangelists are literally crazy about copyright protection
I have an emulator for this on my psp with a complete rom pack was here looking for something that could be interesting since I've only played metal slug and Megaman and on it
It's a cool little console with features that I wish had shown up on the GBA (The clicky stick). Sadly, it was a Game Boy Color competitor (with that games titantic library of almost a decade of great games) that found itself facing the Gameboy Advance year later.
That clicky stick really is beautiful to use. I loved the Neo Geo Pocket Color, but, realistically speaking, it never stood a chance against the GBC. It could have, however, found a niche market if they hadn't pulled the plug on distribution so quickly.
@@Juganawt I think the real issue was, between backward compatibility with the old games and the GBA's enormous technical superiority combined. SNK didn't really see a way forward with the system. It was going to get out competed. And to an extent, this was pre-ordained by Nintendo's pre-existing dominance of the market. In short. It was Nintendo's battle to lose, not anyone else's battle to win. In long. Being the established portable console market leader meant that most game developers were going to dedicate themselves to making games for the portable with the largest market share by far. The Neo Geo, SNK, and the Wander Swan, Bandai, were hardware produced by companies that also had software divisions. And a lot of their leading games were first party titles. Part of the secret to the NG pockets large library in such a short amount of time was that these were often simplified ports of full featured Neo Geo games made directly by SNK. This doesn't mean they weren't good portable games. But they heavily tilted towards first party games in a world where Nintendo had lots of 3rd party developers due to its stranglehold on the portable market. The idea being that more software would sell more consoles which would get the attention of 3rd party developers to jump ship from nintendo create more software. It just wasn't enough. And then the GBA appeared and was so superior, within a year of their own color hardware revision, that it stole the wind from their sales ( ha . . . pun!) I mean, heck, not even Sony, with the same advantages that allowed the play station to best the N64, was really able to wrestle the portable console crown from Nintendo.
awesome memories during, I remember in my elementary days I use to have a Gameboy lol, the game gear always caught my attention because it had colors and was awesome!!!! too bad I never got one lol
Depends on the use. As mine isn’t straight, unedited footage from another source (game play was recorded by me, and all video was composed and edited in a transformative manner, along with the transitions, background visuals etc), it’s classed as fair use and can be monetised.
Great list&video that pays tribute to the most criminially underrated gaming machine...EVER.. Its Clickin' Joystick was AHEAD OF ITS TIME and Current Circle Pads are far from its brillance&ergonomy. Great overlooked gems like Dark Arms : Beast Buster, Dive Alert&Pocket Tennis making this list = EPIC WIN...BUT You forgot SAMURAI SHODOWN 2! Easily the greatest weapon fighter on a portable EVER and featuring flawless production&replay value.
So many games, but so few spaces. Some games didn't make the list. Samurai Shodown, while serviceable, was not as enjoyable as the other games on the list (in my opinion), so it didn't make the cut.
If you liked Card Fighters1 then you need to try Card Fighters2. The language barrier is a bit of a problem, but it reuses the control scheme and a lot of the cards from the first game. With the help of an FAQ even I was able to play the game to completion and collect every card.
Hey, if that emulator has a button mapping for the extra button that the development systems had, you can use it to immediately get 99 of all the cards in Card Fighter Clash. Imagine two people with perfect decks competing against each other.
Working hard towards getting a good deck is all part of the experience though. I don't think the game would be as much fun if both players had perfect decks.
Definitely. I had played all the way through Story Mode and had both versions, and played until we had all 300 cards in both versions. I only recommend using the Test Mode feature afterward.
Looking back at this... it wasn't really that great. I owned the Neo Geo Pocket. But only a few games were worth to play. Now seeing this I made a good decision by selling it. No game wants me to get the Neo Geo Pocket back. GBA owned it that's for sure
+Dosunceste I've played it on the Wonder Swan (that's a different video for a different time). Yeah, it's a great little golf game, but IMO Turf Masters is better.
+Robert Wisdom the processor that powers the system is a TLCS-900H processor, which has a 16-bit register. It can handle 65536 different integers, which makes it a 16-bit system.
TH-cam took away annotations a little while ago and replaced them with the new end screens. Unfortunately though, this means that annotations no longer work on older videos. Sorry bout that.

It’s a good game but doesn’t quite make the list. It’d probably be #21. Both main Last Blade games are featured in my main Neo Geo list, though, so feel free to check that out.
Dark Arms
Girl Fighter
Sonic
Metal Slug: 1st Mission
Metal Slug: 2nd Mission
SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighter Clash

Thanks, Juganawt. I just started NGPC collecting. This looks like a solid list. I'll keep an eye out for these games.

Its 4 years later so how’s your collection doing?

Yeah. It should have supported that cable to link to the Dreamcast and swapped Chao data with puzzle data or something.
That cotton game rules. Just a shame it's so damn expensive.
the kind of games i used to play when i was younger , i might get this system just for nostalgic reasons
It's got a great, if small, library of brilliant titles.
Neo Geo Pocket Colour has so many underrated games despite characters lacking voices in fighting games.
An underrated system, for sure.

Looks great on emulator on PSP
Someone sells a back lit screen for it. Find the NGPC group on Facebook, that is where I got the info.
@@adrian53080 NGPC's dpad is much more suited for fighting games than that of the PSP
Man another great list, I wish some of this games made it to either the 3DS VC or yo the PSN Store, it's kinda a missed opportunity.
