Prof Herman, many thanks for your analysis of the unfolding political situation in Kenya. Kenya has seen two new political chapters in recent times: the invasion of Parliament building by Gen-z and the impeachment of DP Gachagua. These issues will shape, deepen and challenge the political milieu of Kenya and inspire growth in democratic practices across the continent of Africa. These are parts of the pains of the Kenyan rebirth. 2024 is an eventful year for Kenya and this is but the beginning. Watch out for more drama!!! @ Dr Livinus Onogwu
I pray that the senate is hearing this. I pray for Kenya and I hope that the senate will be sensible. Thank you Prof. You speak wisdom and I pray that this wisdom prevails. May God bless you.
Do all those MPs who voted to politically crucify Gachagua know that Ruto's loyalty is only to his fellow Kalenjins? Do they realize that anyone of them outside that community can face the same consequences over a small excuse like farting while walking?
Prof. I concur with you. That a nominated senator can have an equal power with an elected senator to impeach a DP. It is crazy. A nominated senator should not be allowed to impeach any elected leader.
Those so-called waheshimiwa were declared illegitimate by Kenyans on 25th June and I fear they'll bring this country down!! It's not just about RG but unfinished business (revolution) as started by Gen Zs.
@geoffreyachoki9270 it's not about Gachagua. It's about absolute power! Mr. Ruto is consolidating power. If this impeachment goes through, Mr. Ruto will change the constitution to benefit himself. He will never leave. Everything they accussed Mr. Kenyatta what they are doing. Take this to the bank...Mr.Gacahgua surviving as DP is key in protecting our constitution. History repeats it self. Again, Kenyans don't study Kenyan history in school or even at University. But as a child of the 70s i grew up reading newspapers and magazines such as the Nairobi Law monthly and the Society. True in fact i have been his most fierce critic but i am not comfortable about my name being used to sanitize a failed regime. There is also the fact that some representatives told people at the ground that after DP is impeached all their problems will miraculously end. My humble submission.

Let us not encourage power hungry fellows. These 60 years they have hepd power, what have we got? Ignore the folly. We can't be babysitting folly for decades.
I saw it coming 1.5 years ago. I commented about it on another platform and people doubted me. Also Ruto is likely invested in Kikuyu - Luo tension persisting, because he needs to mobilize Luos to cover a drastic drop in Mt Kenya numbers. It started last year and had nothing to do with Raila, but he might make it seem like its about Raila. Btw I believe that Raila had a very high effort-to-vote ratio. He got 800k votes in maybe 10 visits across the 10 - 11 counties in the region (so just a visit per county), and Ruto got just 4 times the votes with probably over 100 times the effort. I only state this to make a point that the Kikuyu - Luo rivalry is probably overplayed -- Kikuyus _can_ vote for a Luo, and Raila would have probably won if he had invested just a bit more time. Ruto had the unfair advantage of starting way before the official campaign period mandated by IEBC. But artificial animosity might be created, which might make violence in 2027 likely.
People are blinded by politics of ethnicity! I don't like both the president and his deputy on how they are running this country but the process of removing Gachagwa is very unfair!
