    did I ever mention I love you're videos, wish I knew half what you know about automatic transmissions, I do wonder if full synthetic ,a cooler a temp bypass would've prevented some of this wear, the Foxwell doesn't seem too bad, I have autel but thinking I need something I can force things on and off etc etc like abs etc. Scan tools sure take the guess work out well mostly. you're intro G'DAY is a great Aussie intro.

    My 6R80 with only 1600 miles on it after a rebuild, flared 300rpm from a 5-6 gear shift. Now, when trying to move forward, it seems like 90% of the line pressure isn't allowing full engagement in D, and the RPM just climbs with very little forward movement. Reverse engages perfectly fine. The car was driving perfect for the first 7 minutes, and then this came out of nowhere. I believe its a solenoid/valve body issue. No codes came up. I am swapping the valve body, bridge and tube seals today.

    Thanks for taking the time to explain this transmission. I have a diesel 2014 Ford Territory with the 6R80 transmission. At about 80K I changed the oil ,lots of grey transmission paste on the magnet and control body .Ford says sealed for life !!! The gear change has always been smooth from new until about 60K . It has developed a stutter when changing fron 2nd to 3 rd gear.Could this be one of the solenoids not functioning from the grey paste blocking? Can I clean/flush them with? Have previously removed the control body before but wasnt quite game to remove solenoids. Great information ,many thanks. Martin

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, pretty much impossible to flush these solenoids as they have magnets inside the solenoid body. make sure you replace solenoids with the same flow number that is stamped on your original solenoids ( there will be a faint number between 1 and 5 on each ) or you will run into more issues. the dealerships say they are sealed for life, however they have a few words left off the end of that statement for some reason?....they should say " sealed for the life of the warranty " this does not mean they shouldn`t be serviced regularly. check out my other 6r60 / 6r80 vids cheers

    Just bought a 2012 6R80 from auto salvage. Building a 55 F100. Donor was an Expedition, 5.4l with 113K miles. Obviously, I don’t know it’s history. Recommendations ?? By the way- love your excellent videos.

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, thanks. i`d recommend converter upgrade if its the original one and while its out anyway...install a full flow cooling valve ( replace the trans thermal valve that starts to open at 70c) add neodymium magnets, install a bypass cooler or even a tap you can flick to a bypass cooler or to the original heat exchanger ( which is a warmer ) . here in australia we dont need to warm up trans fluid like you guys do inorder to help avoid scrubbing out frozen seals. and a regular service to clean the magnets and replace dacron filter. cheers

    • @coryswinerton3296
      @coryswinerton3296 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YepThatsIt Do you always recommend the thermal bypass valve? These transmissions were designed to operate in the 190-210°F range, along with better operating fluids formulated to sustain 200-220°F for 100+K miles.

      hi, on the 4r100 transmissions, the filter can either fall out a bit and seal leaks, they can also get a crack in the plastic filter and suck air. make sure you check all the basics first. see our 4r100 videos th-cam.com/play/PLQLkuOdKuFotBsN3Fb8xoerPWr2U9UowR.html also shows how to make a bracket to support filter. thanks and cheers

    Hello from Canada, thanks for this great video!
    F150 3.7L 4x4 mfd 03/11 SR80
    1-2 shift is rough all the time, under hard acceleration it’s a violent shift into 2nd. No wrench, no codes at all for transmission.
    Ford replaced the lead frame, No difference. Now they want $3400CAD just to open it up to see what’s wrong with it.
    I just bought the truck a month ago and really regretting it. Any advice on what might cause this?

    We have a 6R80 at our shop that blew a cooler line and pumped itself dry, we patched the line, filled with fluid and fired it up, as soon as tech put in gear it started leaking from what we assume to be the torque converter seal. We drove it and it seems to shift OK, wondering what your thoughts were and if we can get away with just changing a torque seal. I pulled the tranny and noticed a sleeve behind the seal that is floating around, and some light scoring marks on the TC, but nothing unusual on the TC seal surface.
    Vehicle is a 2014 F-150
    Thanks for any help you can give me.

      hi, hard to say/determine without seeing for ourselves. it sounds like you have spun the pump/converter neck bushing...you will need to remove & disassemble the pump to determine whether a new bush will press in snuggly or if bush spun and damaged the pump housing. if high mileage trans, the rest of trans probably worn as well. cheers

    Hi there, we have a 2011 Mazda BT 50 that has a 6R80 auto transmission on it. It has done more already a hundred km.
    Last year we had the torque converter replaced because of a whining noise from it
    Now it's developed a new problem, as soon as we engage either R or D, it bangs into gear and moves straight away without pressing the accelerator pedal.
    When we hold the brakes, the engine shakes alot and smokes like it wants to stall.
    It also has a bit of ATF leakage from the front bell housing area.
    I did some research and I suspect it's the TCC engaged as soon as the vehicle is started.
    Applicate your time and help with this one.
    Regards, Rudolph

      hi, sounds like you`re on the right path. the solenoids in these trans have an internal magnet, so impossible to flush properly or demagnetize to flush see our vid showing this th-cam.com/play/PLQLkuOdKuFouJdMwQGrZeBn0wI0E8dReA.html hopefuly someone didnt also mix up the solenoids, they have a very faint flow number stamped on them between 1 & 5, they must be same as ones the original. also dont forget to replace bridge seal and tube seals as they often flatten out and we always install full flow cooler valve, makes it easier to adjust fluid level without burning yourself and cooling starts right away instead of when reaches 70C. if you are in Aust you can purchase parts from me via our facebook link. cheers

      @@YepThatsIt thanks so much, appreciate your time. I have a list of parts I want to fix em up. But the problem is I'm in Papua New Guinea and I was wondering if I can still source the stuff from you. And also if I remove the valve body, do all solenoids or electronics need activation of some sort for the gearbox to operate again?
      Regards Rudolph

      @@rudolphtaligatus1047 will be ok if you just replace solenoids, bu if the mechatronics are replaced ( either just the mech plate or complete valve body with mech plate ) you will need to get reflashed at dealership. about 50% of time if you replace with 2nd hand mechatronic plate, you won`t need to reflash. i will see how much cost is to PNG tomorrow, but i get sidetracked easily...contact me on our facebook link facebook.com/Yep-Thats-It-103051017785435

      hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. the solenoids on these trans have a little magnet inside the solenoid that gets contaminated and can`t be flushed without disassembling solenoid carefully. they are not serviced for over 100,000km while under warranty so the debris circulates for 100k until issues arise...sometime sooner than later. cheers
