- Julieta is 14 years old and rescues turtles as a volunteer on Curaçao in the Caribbean. The island off the coast of Venezuela is feeling the impact of climate change and pollution. Julieta is moved to take action.
The teenager is fearless when it comes to saving animals. Turtles are an endangered species. Warming oceans are fueling algae growth, as are fertilizers flushed into the sea from Brazil. The turtles come up for air, and get entangled in the bloom. Julieta and her fellow activists from an island conservancy group are committed to saving as many turtles as they can. Their efforts are backed by veterinarian Odette Doest and her emissary for conservancy, Bob the flamingo.

I just realized the lack of educational flamingo in my childhood.
Watching this video was like getting to see the sunshine break through on a gray overcast sky.
No it's not.. stop pandering for likes on YT and grow up.
@@mathieutyler00 What’s your problem?!? Getting tired of living in your mommy’s basement? 🙄
Curaçao. It's sheer name is spellbinding. God save this Elysium and it's turtles! And bless all the people who do care.
We need courageous and committed individuals like these as life on Earth gets harder because of climate disasters. A quote from the book *The Great Waves of Change* by Marshall Vian Summers -
"Do not worry that others are not responding. Do not concern yourself that humanity remains ignorant and indulgent and foolish in its conquests and its conflicts. For the calling is for you. You have to take responsibility for your life and for your reasons for being here. The calling is for you. You do not need a consensus with others to respond. In fact, you will not have such a consensus. You may be the only person you know who is responding. Even if this is the case, you must respond."
(if anyone wants to read the whole book you can search the name and get it for free)
Thank you, Benjamin.
All the turtles, flamingos, and all the other animals are so nice and precious. They deserve to be saved and protected. It is so sad that they are endangered because of human beings' bad habits.
stop eating fish if you care about turtles. Biggest killer of turtles is fishing nets.
Both julieta and odette should be awarded for saving the wild animals from the monsters who just keep endanger them
Don't forget about Bob.
Award them
@@laurensa.1803 yeah
@@Didnt_ask69 if you are saying this kindly then =👍👍👍👍
But
If you are saying this sarcastically then=🖕🖕🖕🖕
They are rewarded every day the get to release animals back to the wild .No better reward than that and I'am sure they would agree .
I know many of the people in this film. I used to be a bit involved with sea turtle conservation curaçao in the beginning. They do an absolutely good job.
Some people really give it their all to save or make it better for the local wildlife and pets.
Watching from Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪
Seaweed was also in Florida keys and other Caribbean islands not just Curacao.
Little is mentioned how toxic sunscreen and lotions affect negatively the coral reefs that also contribute to the tumors in sea animals. Otherwise good work to all the people that make a difference to improve the environment of sea life on the island.
Every school should do this. Thank you for your work🙏🏼
I can’t understand why people deposit there wastes, in beaches not knowing the dangers, it will cause to this turtles and others animals in the seas, it’s just mind blogging and irresponsible. A huge hand out to this conservationists for doing the fifth thing.
Trash on islands comes from everywhere. It's carried by currents and tides.. All rivers lead to the oceans. Most of the trash is not thrown away on beaches but in cities. There's also LOTS of fishing gear.
Great content and great people - the planet needs many more to save this dying planet.
There is hope in our young people; unfortunately the old greedy men are in charge.
I want to really make some change.....all this makes me feel sad and scared at the same time
I have a cat, sick at the moment and named Solo. I will release him to the ocean when he is cured too. I am so inspired :) Joke is a relief to see how we change the world to the harsh for these sea creatures to move on. It is so touchy to see people are doing tremendous effort to revert it. Thank goodness as the Richard Dawkins says...
Wonderfull, we all must do our best to give back to nature, oreserve and make tings right. I have a garden and try to make it as much as possible favourable for beneficial not only to insects but other animals too. I really love when i see animals nibbleing on my viggies, birds eating seeds from sunfloers. i really love that.
Excellent documentary. ** Thanks from Bisshi Porikroma and stay tuned with us.
the park rangers used to clean the coast from plastic this location that this was filming but they could not do much with the algae
So this is where my Curacao Liqueur comes from.
Beautiful island! Looking forward to going back some day
Very good ecological program. Please don't stop it.
Very stunning and brave how she saved the turtles while risking herself drowning on her paddle board.
Great Video and people doing Great work long may it continue .
All this time I thought Odette is a Swan Princess, turns out she's a Flamingo Princess
Omg Bob is the cutest
Bob is amazing!
Im proud here from curacao
Thank you for the insightful video. This is a hopeful yet sad video to watch. I hope that everyone works on tackling the climate change issue.
Positive video in negative "positivity" times.....
The algae also work as air filters no? Kelp for example is as important as the Amazon rainforest no
I wish I could do any kind of help.
@Two Eyed Perineum I second this
Hoping to be there Jan 11th if all goes well.
No boats? I’d be scared to get some weird fungus wading in those waters
Stacy Jae .Unless you are a Turtle there is no need to be scared .
Barry Baz that doesn’t make much sense relative to what i said but ok lol
Stacy Jae . Hi , just thought you were scared of that fungus that was growing in the water . Sorry I may have read it wrong .
Barry Baz Yeah, I am- nail, vaginal, any body part yeah. I’m always hesitant about being in super murky unclean water bc I study it and am always concerned about germs 🦠 or disease or unnecessary fungus
Stacy Jae . To much detail 😛
Bob the super flamingo!
Flamingo Bob sounds like a cool name for a tiki bar?
Everywhere is warming twice as fast as everywhere else.
Curacao and the climated change. Turquia sea is considered a paradise destine, by the shores and wildlife . Venezuela is a country damaged by the climate change Curasao is a paradise shore, but finds treated, by the pollution, there are activist contributing and doing something, for rescue a little the wild life, rescuiting the turttle, and taking out the sargasse, It's almost impossible do it. Because all the shores are covered with garbasse, which do almost impossible localize the turttles. There is a team working with this one. The tortles own tumors in its face and body, as result of the over pollution. . Other one is the flaming. As a part of the education, is to visit the schools, with some animals, which belong the wildlife, waking up this way, the motivación inside the children, trying, that they understand, valor, respect and keep in good conditions the ecosystem. The activists require donations in order to continue helping in the rescue programs of the wildlife. . Sometimes the tourists are witnees, how are liberate the turttles and other one's. Teaching and sharing with the children the importance to keep clean and free of pollution our ecosystem and wildlife.
Dankie vir wat julle doen. Ons almal moet ons deel doen om die wêreld skoon te los vir dié generasies wat kom.
Utter waste of time. Those turtles will be caught in the next tuna net that caters for tourist seafood market at the port.
Awesome!
Fighting symptoms
Yeeeeesssss!!!!❤❤❤
This action is much better than pure money greed.

Damn climate change.
I remember the last ice age 11 700 years ago. It was freeeekkkkiiiin cold:(
Well you are being dumb.. humans are accelerating the cycle.. and much of the ecosystem and animals cant adept fast enough..
@@Renjii1991 not true. evidence please.. oh yeah.. you have none
What has pollution got to do with climate change?
Because it increases the co2 in the ozonlayer at a rate that is way too fast for us to handle
@@drunkensailor112 CO2 has nothing to do with the ozone layer. You're thinking of chlorofluorocarbons. The level of CO2 in our atmosphere is miniscule.
@@DegreesOfThree yeah I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said ozone layer, but in atmosphere, but I don't know correct English word for where the co2 rebounds the heat
Here they eat the sea turtles.
That's not a rescue. That's a kidnapping. Turtles have survived for millions of years. I'm pretty sure they can handle a little kelp.
@Ryan Jachtmann Humans didn't didn't create kelp. There's no such thing as homeostasis on Earth. The climate is always changing. Ice ages and mass extinctions are the rule, not the exception. If it weren't for the industrial revolution, we would still be eating turtle soup, like the natives.
Climate change lol
curacao will be sinking for sure
