    Boy, I wish I had one of those nice vans with rear view cameras decades ago when I was running deliveries (appliances) in San Francisco. Backing into tight spaces, particularly in areas with high pedestrian traffic and on steep slopes was a tiring experience.

    I've always preferred those types of air vents. Their design is so much more conducive to accurate aiming.

    Now to round this segment out Roman, you really should have a look, ( for us ) at the Ford Transit,..compare and contrast these two vans.
    Thanks for this video, it is very interesting, to me at least.

      Reg Sparkes we have both in our fleet. Personally prefer the sprinter over the transit. Fuel economy and how the van handles the cargo is better in the sprinter. We have had brake issues in both of our transits and only minor wear issues with the sprinters.

    I drove a sprinter for several years, and I see this one has the rear view camera. One thing I wish they came with was a right side blind spot camera. I had a terrible time trying to turn left onto a boulevard (divided road) if I had to make two attempts at it (one to cross the traffic going from left to right and then one to actually turn left and merge with traffic
    I would end up with either my back end blocking traffic, or cocked in the medium at 45 degrees unable to see oncoming traffic while seated and safely belted. A second rear facing camera mounted behind the sliding door stop angled at 45 degrees or at roughly 4 or 5 o clock would have allowed me to better see oncoming traffic

    I been watching you guys videos day by day on jeep wrangler and up and taking your Opinions And when I watch your guys Video About sprinter cargo van I went and I bought one so I need your guises opinion Val about should I keep it if they fix the transmission problem or I should ask for another van because I don’t think it’s fair for me to spend $60,000 and I only have it for three weeks and transmission failure already.

    Hi I just bought a 2019 Mercedes sprinters
    Three weeks ago and I already experience transmission problem I took it back to the dealer and now for three days I’m trying to know what’s going on with my van and I cannot get any answer
    Do you think this is right that I should keep this van with the mission problem which is my van only three weeks old or they should give me another van

    Hello Roman! I’ve had the pleasure of driving many miles in the first generation Sprinter, while delivering bottled water that’s very heavy. So going out with a full load of around 60 full 5gal bottles, at 4,000 lbs, in a 2500, was absolutely no problem. But I have to say about all of the first and second generation Sprinters I’ve seen in that area I used to live in Massachusetts,( I’m now retired in Florida), are all been very popular with the tin worm, or body rust/rot! Even underneath in the structural areas! That I have to say I’m quite surprised! More so than any of the competitions vans. Especially disappointed in that. But i will say are very reliable.

    • @checker3694
      @checker3694 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes your right. In Europe they and Ford transits are only brand to rust. Fleets buyers love them, 200k miles with close to 0 problems. Other brands here require on going maintaince over 100k miles. In you can over look the rust and paint quality, there are perfect. But come at a cost premium over the other brands for good reason

  • @unknownunknowns

    Since there are so many buttons on the steering wheel, Roman should hold the wheel at the 9 and 3 position rather than 10 and 2, so that way he doesn’t have to move his hand off the wheel in order to fiddle with the infotainment system.

    I love the look of the 2018 Mercedes Sprinter Worker vans. The 2019 model year looks more rounded, less utilitarian, more feminine. I prefer the looks of the older models.

      Yeah I don't like the new models the headlights and they seem to sit up higher in the front for some reason worse the dash or something I got a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 extended high roof was super singles and I love it I love the front end and headlights on these and how they sit inside with the dash

    Why can we never get the manuals here in the US?

  • @trailrunnah8886
    @trailrunnah8886 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The voice commands on the infotainment seem handy, but not having any basic knobs in a vehicle like this seems like a pretty big oversight. Something like this that is destined to see a lot of fleet use should be pretty easy to use, so someone can just jump in and go, and not have to worry about fussing with a screen and settings. Even just a basic set of radio knobs would be better.
    I wonder if that screen can be operated with gloves on, or what the effect of not so clean hands would have on it's durability and functionality.

    Curious if HID/LED headlights will be standard.. Or an option at least.. Coming from someone who has owned a few MB cars CLA 45 AMG, C43 AMG, and a CLC 43 AMG. The previous Sprinter interior was very aged and it didn't age well. It as literally 2006 technology and 2006 parts. You wouldn't know that if you have never driven a MB car before. I think that is why MB was able to stretch that old technology all the way to 2018/2019. Because not many uninformed customers were complaining. Rumor is they are still building out old stock and these updated interiors are not available for purchase in the U.S yet.

    Technically the new Sprinter won't be "coming to America" because it'll be built here at their new facility in South Carolina, which should address the ridiculously long wait times for 4x4 Sprinters we see now.

    What about 4x4? That’s the only reason people near me buy these. I don’t think I see any newer 2wd Sprinters unless they are campers. 4wd Sprinters everywhere though.

    • @k.r.v.4219
      @k.r.v.4219 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jrhunt414 yes I agree! But only the newer ones were available in 4x4. But I would still take a Chevy 2500 with a Quigley conversion. I have a buddy where I used to live that has an amazing 2016 Chevy Express 2500 DuraMax with a HD Quigley 4x4AWD System! He’s had other mods done, like a double wide aluminum radiator and hd tranny cooler. Plus it got a long travel IFS with Fox Shocks front and rear. With a total delete and big pipes, CAI and a tuner. Mainly because the DuraMax is de-rated by Chevy due to cooling space issues, that he’s had taken care of. Plus he had a really nice HIGH top roof installed! All together he has about 70 k into it! But it runs amazing, drives amazing and can go anywhere it fits! Plus it’s a self contained camper! That’s nicer than any Sprinter! All while still getting 20 mpg highway 15 city. With two tanks that carry 50 gal total.

    The new Sprinter looks like it’s improved in almost every way. But I am not a fan of them. They may run a million miles, but they cost a fair chunk to purchase, maintain, service and repair. And parts availability is still a problem. They are more prone to rust than they should be for the price they charge. They have tough competition in the Ford Transit. The Ram Promaster not so much. I am hearing that drivers are not very fond of Promasters for a number of reasons. It maters not how a lot of people keep suggesting and saying they should offer a manual for the US market. The fact is manuals ar not a significant seller here. And proper real modern automatics in these types of vehicles surpassed manuals a long time ago. Contrary to many saying so, automatics offer superior performance and reliability over the manuals. As far as fuel efficiency, if manuals are properly driven, they might provide superior fuel economy, but not always and in a van, automatics are far better in urban traffic for driver comfort and performance.

    Wow, leave it to politicians to make laws like that: build in Germany, disassemble, pack, ship, reassemble in USA just to make it look like Hecho en USA. That's got to hurt the vehicle integrity, quality. Jerks. I go Germany, buy there, ship back. Hey, we need that truck looking thingamajig here! Lot of possibilities. Oh me, not nary ciao. Sheesh Roman.

      I'll bet they are easy to shift, and in the Netherlands, except for the Maastricht area, it's all flat as a pancake, so you wouldn't even notice it. In a way it is good because it's less boring. But in general, I agree, on a delivery van I would rather go for an automatic, unless there was a significant fuel savings with a manual (I doubt it these days).

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Mark C "you haven’t traveled internationally much have you" -- He asked why someone would **want** a manual in a delivery van, not if they exist. Please try to read with comprehension.
