Brownman Revival usually performs OPM covers... that is why they are called Brownman (Filipino) Revival (cover/song revival) They rarely perform original songs...
Thanks Wale and Efra, I missed this genre and these bands so much! There are not much of them in the mainstream scene but there are a lot in the cover band and underground scenes, as well as live scenes such as bars, resorts, hotels, and events. The first band is called Brownman Revival because they do revivals of old songs into Ska/Ragge genre. If you can check the group callex "indio i" please listen to their music. They are from the 90's and I can say they are a textbook reggae and they have an album of original compositions.
Binibini is just their cover version so as Maling Akala originally from Eraserheads., even janno Gibbs has his own rendition . Originally performed by Rainmakers in 1975 released by Vicor music.
@josephinesalmorin7647 that was a controversial issue because they never paid the original artist and writer for Janno Gibbs the sing Binibini. German Moreno or known as Kuya Germs, promises Joseph Lansang that he will get paid for Janno to record his version, but he did not receive a single centavo.
Reggae Mistress did back up vocals for Tropical Depression from time to time. Xymaca Bar in QC was awesome. Reggae Mistress on Thursday and Brownman Revival on Fridays. You guys are missing Indio I.
1st reggae that filipino has is vincent dafalong and the brother of danny javier of apo hiking society which i do not remember the name,.so!?reggae n rap music are doing earlier than of americans and jamaican does.thats a fact dude!
They are not Reggae BANDS but they can do REGGAE SONGS as i said BEFORE SINGERS and BANDS in the PHILIPINES covers DIFFERENT DENRE of MUSIC and FILIPINOS are All around SINGERS depending on the MOOD of their AUDIENCE and request
WALESKA/EFRA, this is NOT a RAGGAE BAND but this trio from the 90s has a unique sound fron all the rest at the time. the band is called KULAY (COLOR), composed of BOOM, RHADA and JEANNIE (✝️) who was replaced by Angel. i think they were called Kulay because the band is a mix. of different races. Jeannie was a Caucasian, Rhada is Filipino and I'm not sure if boom is a mixed race. try checking out their song GET DOWN. it's a catchy one and easy to the ears.
I love the tempo of Reggae; it is uplifting your spirit and with its rhythm you fill like you'd love to do calisthenics which is unlike sweet and classic pop that makes you sway with the tempo. I don't know, but your heartbeat is like a reggae beat: it makes you alive.
Please react to Pablo's Alon and Laon Albums. Recommended would be The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Kumunoy from Alon. Then Butata, Micha! and Blessed from Laon.
Reggae has a niche market here in the PH. They have been around. Trop Dep's Papa Dom+ ang Chong+ and his wife Chang of Reggae Mistress are the pillars of Reggae here. Reggae Mistress is still active. Just last night I was at their gig. 😊
The original drummer ot tropical depression Omni sarroca happens to be my bestfriend. Hes also the orig. Drummer of band Hale in the late 90 upto 2010 i think.😊❤
Every Island..places,has different..local..music Icon's..but musician united..in the new trends..of music..whos getting viral..on whole counrty..thats Filipino..in terms of music.
Pls. try also reacting to Smooth Jazz cover Band of Philippines! They are the "Fab Jazz" band of Glasshouse Coffee bar of Davao City !!! They are awesome in playing each of their instruments..Brass, Keyboard, base/Lead/Rhythm Guitars, Drums/Percussion..
HAHAHAHHA you guys already reacted to Brownman Revival!! same Myx performance 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 about 3 years ago. its literally on the reco list while im watching this vid!
Met the entire.members of Brownman Revival when I was working as a DJ for a radio station. Those dudes are just so chill even dueing interviews. Tropical Depression was one of the founders of Pinoy Reggae. Sadly, Papa Doms died a day before his birthday in 2013. Reggae Mistress was a welcome addition to the scene since it was more dominated by men, and they were the, i think the first if im not mistaken, the first female fronted reggae band. Chocolate Factory is the new breed and more jivey type of sound. Hemp Republic has more of a romance-jive, and has songs that will make you feel like slow dancing to. There are also subgenres for reggae here. Such as Ragga-Metal band Point-Click-Kill from Iloilo who got famous in the underground scene with the song Ariba. But they disbanded years ago after the death of their vox. Another is a band from Cebu called Powerspoonz, who started out as a Rap-Metal band, then transitioned to Raggacore/Hiphop when they released their song Barrio.
Only few reggae bands make it on main stream media dat made album and CDs back on the days.. But I think regionally, every region here in the PH especially during festivals have their reggea bands plays.
Good you covered Pinoy Raggae for a change. Showing countless local belters, professionals or amateurs, all the time foreigners might think that's all local performers can do. There are other bands playing different genres like Ethnic-inspired or Jazzy or Bossa Nova.. Children's choir are also great. Check out the last catchy number of this young, cute children's choir complete with choreography. link- th-cam.com/video/gMTGXMQNwGc/w-d-xo.html

Kapayapaan by Tropical Depression is the best when it comes to the substance of the lyrics

Binibini is originally composed and Sang by one of the members of The Rainmaker. His name is Joseph Lansang, and he is my uncle.
i like the vesion of janno gibbs Binibini
@josephinesalmorin7647 that was a controversial issue because they never paid the original artist and writer for Janno Gibbs the sing Binibini.
