    Some of the progressions in this video are really unique. I've watched a lot of free standing HSPU tutorials and yet this video still taught me a lot of new things. Thanks!!!

    With my neck injuries, I need to learn a way of getting into a handstand without having to put weight on my head.

      Practicing getting comfortable with a shoulder stand on parallettes would be a good way to progress into a handstand on paralletes, all the while allowing your head to never come into contact with the ground. However pushing out of this position would be much more difficult as you would be pushing from a deficit position.

      Additionally, doing a ring handstand (very difficult) could be something you work towards while using one of our Ring-Things, which self sports and takes 50% of your bodyweight out of the equation.

    a friend of mine has the problem of pointing her hands inward (ring finger faces front rather than thumb) got a fix for that?

    • @PowerMonkeyFitness
      @PowerMonkeyFitness  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John, thanks for the comment. Not certain I understand the issue, when performing a HSPU your index and middle finger should be whats pointing forward. Your thumbs should be pointing at roughing a 45 degree angle inward, and your ring finger maybe 5-10 degree outward. But really focusing on where the index and middle finger are pointed will take care of the rest. Hope this helps!!

    I've been trying to work on these for years but could never go past the tripod-to-plank progression. I severely lack any pressing strength to be able to forge ahead with these progressions. Oddly though, i can hold a solid handstand for at least 20 sec. + at every attempt i make.
    What's missing in my training? How can i improve and gain pressing strength?

    • @PowerMonkeyFitness
      @PowerMonkeyFitness  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you ever do dedicated work to build pressing strength? DB press would certainly help, as would chest to wall handstand push-up negatives.

      Its possibly that you would benefit from a more holistic approach to your gymnastics training in that case. We have programs that would tackle such issues in our training app. The "Monkey Method" programs in particular would be what we would recommend. You can try them for free for a month to see. Just go to Powermonkeytraining.com

    Slooooowly getting there myself. I notice I lack the balance in the lowest part of the HSPU (so right before you lift off the head from the ground).

    Your shoulders internally rotated on both wall hspu. Is that expected because of the mechanics against the wall? Your freestanding hspu didn't have any internal rotation like the ones on the wall.

    I would like to hold my weight on my shoulders. But, my arms get most of my weight. So, I take a deep breath to use my shoulder more. I want to use my shoulders naturally. But, I can't. I don't know why.

    I've been chasing the HSPU for a bit over a year. This is the most comprehensive guide I've seen so far. You absolutely rock! Thank you so much. As I was watching this, so many things began to make sense, especially because I do a have a solid handstand hold as a base. Thank you again. Please keep making more content.
