    This was my first and still favourite folio! I didn’t pay much attention to them until Buzzfeed did a feature on this edition. Now I have a bookcase full of them.

    Excellent review Sir; I have been pondering on getting either Dune or 'Rendezvous with Rama' but your review made my mind up, Dune it is !!
    I also heartily recommend 'The Book of the New Sun' which I bought last month, a superb edition; keep up your good work my friend.

      Ron I appreciate this comment. I want to keep doing showcases. Unfortunately, I had a situation that soured my feelings on continuing...which is really disappointing to me..I am thankful for the comments though. And my students think it’s awesome that I’m also a TH-camr and a teacher. I wish I had more comments like this. In the end, I will probably continue but I don’t know when I’ll get back at it.

      @@rarebookreviewer Don't let any negative get to you my friend, life is too short for that crap; I and people like me appreciate what you do. By the way Dune arrived this week and it's all you said it was and more - I am well happy, keep it up bro, respect from the UK...Ron

    This is a terrific volume. I totally agree about Sam Weber. The limited edition was gilding the lily as far as I am concerned (no reason why FS can't cash in on movie properties however). I'm currently reading The Book of the New Sun (also illustrated by Weber) which is one of the most challenging reads I've encountered. After Gene Wolfe, Frank Herbert will be a walk in the park. I've listened to an unabridged recording of Dune, but not read it formally. Incredible fiction. Why haven't Folio done further volumes? BTW: You've inspired me to make a purchase. After juggling several different carts of books, I settled on three from the YA section: True Grit, A Kestrel for a Knave, and The Mark of the Horse Lord. The latter two are very low stock, so I'm glad to be grabbing them. I also used the promo code you provided which covered most of the shipping so thank you very, very much.

    BRO YOU HAVEN'T READ DUNE? I'm ordering my copy of this right now, and I'm surprised you haven't at least read this, dude. This isn't the hardest read out there, but it is a little confusing with all the sci fi terms but that's why I recommend using the appendixes in the back and having illustrations honestly makes it feel so lively. I have the Illustrated Dune from the 1970's and its art isn't nearly on the level of Sam Weber's. That's crazy. You gotta read this, dude.

      Hey man! Thanks for the comment! I definitely have it coming up on my list. I am reading Ray Bradburys Something Wicked This Way Comes. Dune is coming up for sure. Thanks for getting me more pumped to read it though and I’m so glad you are going to pick up a copy! It is SO worth the investment!

    i dont know if this is the right place to ask. But do u send to Denmark?

    • @rarebookreviewer
      @rarebookreviewer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to my knowledge they will ship to Denmark but you must pay for express shipping which is substantially more. I apologize if I am incorrect on this but this is what I remember from the last update that I saw.

    Do you actually read these editions or are these for an esteemed shelf lol

      I showcase the books as soon as I get them. So in many cases I have yet to read the book. I have since read this edition. I am trying to read them more before showcasing as you will see in my showcase of The Road. There are several other examples of books that I have read before showcasing (I Am Legend and a few more). I hope you’re enjoying the showcases. There are very few people taking the time to show off Folio Society books and I’d gladly stop if someone else wanted to take the time to do a better job than me regularly. I’ve even invited some of my regular subscribers who have a larger collection and more knowledge on the books too. So far, no takers. Thanks for the question.

      @@cakataarjack3966 Very kind of you to chime in and make a comment! I know that I’m not the greatest out there for sure but I’m at least trying to help some others decide on a purchase one way or another. I do wish I had time to read all the books ahead of time. It is one thing that I regret not being able to do but I just don’t have the time to read books nonstop with two children under the age of five and a very limited amount of free time. I am so thankful for the people that do appreciate the showcases and I know that the person who made the original comment actually is a subscriber to so I think the question was a valid one.
