Palming a card isn't that hard of a trick with a little practice. You can truly surprise people who've never seen palming done. The hard part is making the card come back in a unique way like pulling it from your other hand, if you just reverse palm to bring it back its obvious where it went.

In this scene, before they left, the card was passed to Merritt, the guy in the hat, because he was behind all of them and they needed to stall but they were not able to think fast enough. Jack, the guy who asked for his wallet back,.. asked for his wallet because there was metal detected inside before they entered the metal room so they asked him to leave it to the guard. And thats what he did to stall for Merritt so they wont get caught, then that explains why the time that the wallet came through the detector, Merritt threw the card at the same time. This scene was actually made with bare minimum CGI. These tricks that you're seeing on screen is 100% genuine acting. Whenever the actors weren't on set, they were practicing for this one scene.

People nowadays are used to watching movies where in the middle of a very serious moment, some character cracks a nonsense joke, and the audience enjoys it. For me, it totally takes away the seriousness and I get distracted. Cinema isn't Cinema anymore. Every movie nowadays is a typical movie filled with childish humor, traditional 3 acts, and the common Hollywood crap. Quentin Tarantino, Nolan, Denis etc., are the only ones keeping REAL and CLASSIC Hollywood alive.
