16:10 If you can't find a Wing Sung model, they are usually available under their other Chinese name/prononciations : WIngsung, Yongshen, Yongsheng, etc. I found the 3024 easily.
Thanks Doug for giving the rundown on the two Wing Songs. I have the 3024 in all colors at a cheaper earlier price. They write great, hard to clean the ink out due to the inability to remove the barrel. There are always a few drops of water left after cleaning and I remove the remaining water with a syringe since the barrel opening is small, Fun pen to write with, it's cheap, and if you use the same ink in it all the time, cleaning gets a lot easier.
For almost the past 60 years, I've had a couple of fountain pens lying about (usually Sheaffers, "school pens," and No Nonsense pens and a Targa I think is the one I've owned the longest). I liked "fine writing instruments," a la Cross Century pen/pencil sets, Sheaffer Targa sets, Parker Jotter sets, etc. A few years ago, when the fountain pen bug really bit me and I got into seriously acquiring fountain pens, I quickly discovered the inexpensive "Wing Sung Junior" pens, and I fell instantly in love with their extra-fine nibs which I considered superior to the Jinhao 0.38 nibs, despite their supposedly being the same size. The Wing Sung pens wrote more finely and drier, and I loved them, from my first 3003, 3013, 6359, etc. However, like you, I discovered some quality issues along the way with the builds. Anyway, I like your review of this pen. I have a Moonman T2 (or two), and I wasn't happy with them. Clipless, wrote "fat" to what the nib size was, etc. But thanks to your very, VERY helpful link toward the end of the video, I immediately went and ordered a 3024 from St PenPPS. Thank you so much for a lead on a pen I hope truly is of at least slightly better quality that I look forward to receiving and writing with! Incidentally, where did you get all those little "dumbbell" pen rests you so frequently show in your videos?
FULL of new info to me. It's like saturday morning school on fountain pens.🤓 I did not know, there was two Wing Sung and they are own by HERO, Nice to know. Thanks for the review 👍
Thanks Doug... good as always! Great 12 string intro, great vid inserts (but missed old guy saying "i'm so confused ") and great content! I'm always learning something new from you Professor!
Hi Doug. Speaking of copies, I believe the Leonardo MZ is a copy of the Eversharp Doric roller clip, except for the faceted body. So, it is hard to determine who copied who. Love your shows. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Ricardo
Doug, Amazon has a set of four of these for $14.99- erofa 4PCS Yongsheng 3024 Fountain Pen Set Spring Press Filling Large Capacity Extra Fine Nib Beautiful Writing Pen Including your blue one- love the filling mechanism! And thanks for your continuing thorough reviews!
I have seen this pen's mechanism on a TWSBI. This seems like a very interesting pen, especially for the price. Heck I have seen throw away fountain pens for more money than the cost of this. No it does not have all the quality I have gotten to like from Wing Sung but at the price and it works reasonably well, one may say it has good value for the money. As an aside I could not fine the 3008, but I did find the 3009. It has a semi hooded nib with the same piston mechanism. It has worked well but the feed cannot be removed or completely cleaned. Again, for the price... Great review, Doug.
Love your videos AND I love your guitar work - and the Ric 12-string, especially! I am also a guitar player since 1961, Gretsch's mostly, so I can appreciate your work.
Insightful comments and comparisons of the various features among this lightweight and its numerous forebears. Thanks, Doug. Your evaluations of pens that are garbage are always welcome. You've been wearing a ballcap rather than a cowboy cap recently, and have trimmed your hair and beard. Is that a seasonal thing?
Many Wing Sung tend to use a Pilot style nib, so they can be swapped out for something else. With you all the way about the 3xxx Wing Sung construction. They crack. Fast and spectacularly. I have a single (out of 6) 3012 vac fillers that the cap hasn't shattered yet. Yet, because it has only been used twice. The 3008 design ( and probably everything) was also sold as an under $3 USD PenBBS a few years ago. And they are also virtually identical to a Lambitou that I forgot the model (only difference I saw was the Lambitou has a branded nib.) Not a one of those 3 had any model number or branding, so I suspect that they were like the Monteverde Monza (a Jinhao 992), and just sold as multiple brands. I'm gonna pass on getting this one. I'm okay with the few Wing Sung pens I have (they are good for taming certain Noodler's inks ) but I need another like a 5 pound skin tag.
oh i know st.penpps, i bought a nib there, the nib is so awfully bad and easily bend with almost no pressure, i give it 1* and then he delete the product from their list. not a long time he then post the same product with same description. that's a cheap trick to make his store rating looks good. i don't trust st.penpps, i'd rather buy from mary stationery or anywhere else. him renaming all his product is already dodgy af
I've bought 2 Wing Sung 3008 and I was only 50% lucky. One leaks, because it didn't get a gasket. But the other, after polishing away the Lamy style nib's scratchiness, is a favoured cheap piston filler, TWSB knock-off, EDC pen. For the very reasonable price, I'm not too miffed to get one decent piston-filler pen. I bought them from Bobby. I hope he goes back to putting the real makers and models on the pens he stocks, because that how we search for pens, and he will get less traffic to his store if he doesn't.

At least it is easier than repeatedly turning a piston knob over and over.

The little dumbell pen rests are from Penbbs. You have to watch their Etsy shop as they come and go rapidly.

Thanks for the comparisons Doug!
Nice intro! My parents had a record with this song on it, and used to play it when I was very young. I like your version!
Thank you Tic Tac. That is much appreciated!
Excellent review, as usual, sir. Thank you!
Thanks, sailcat9!
Thanks Doug... good as always! Great 12 string intro, great vid inserts (but missed old guy saying "i'm so confused ") and great content! I'm always learning something new from you Professor!
I'm confused a lot, so I don't want to over-use that clip! LOL
Thanks Doug. I have the M T2 in that same color. One of my favorite pens. Wrote great out of the box and smoooooth. One of my favorite pens.

The roller clip is everywhere in Italian pens from the last 70 to 80 years.

Nice find. Few steel-nibbled pens leave a strong positive impression on me, but the Moonman T2 is one of those. I like that pen quite a bit.

Thanks Paul. Yes. The TWSBI Go. Still they can’t claim copyright on a spring and plunger. You might as well try and copyright the lever!

Thanks, Tom! Rock on!

Yeah, I trim my beard and cut my hair once a year whether it is needed or not!

Not bad for $5. Thanks for reviewing and comparing both pens.
Thanks, theProf!
I have a few of these but one of the caps had stripped threads. Other than that, these pens are pretty nice.
5:44 Not really two because the M800 copied an earlier Momento Zero, the Leonardo Momento Zero Positano, which had only two cap rings.
There is also the different shape clip and the clip ring.
When to get this fountain pen ?
I show exactly how to obtain this pen in the video. You have to search for "St Penpps Prees Piston" on Aliexpress.

I've purchased quite a few things from Bobby on eBay and Aliexpress. His custom nibs are not too bad and very inexpensive.
