That was super fast he learned!!
I gave my parents an Aussie. Angel was the smartest dog. Aussies want to please and want to work. They're smarter than Goldens. Angel once picked up a piece of paper and brought it to my mom. She gave Angel a treat and after that, nothing was on the floor that Angel wouldn't pick up and return.
Aussies and border collies make all dogs look stupid af. I've had several in Mt lifetime and they're too smart for a household imo. They can get into some trouble if not entertained.
Yep, bred to work and not just be a passive companion. With a jobs, they thrive. One of mine wins awards moving sheep with my teen, the other does both home protection with bite work and kid calmness therapy outside the home, cause sheep bore him. Great 2 yr old opinionated goofuses. A wild pack of them would be a hilarious...
@@christopherkusek1362 Sheep bore him? 😀 I can see that.
Yep, instinct tested great early at 6mo then lost interest during training for some reason. He still knows how, just prefers to do different things - no need to force him. Using his sis now because she enjoys it so much she prances like a dancing horse while do doing it. :)
@BentleyGadget...crazy to think these dogs are not even Australian. They are northern Cali gold rush livestock dogs, their quirkiness might have been bred in by quirky people. 😂
The Australian Shepherd and Cattle Dog are so smart.
When I was a kid I had a Kelpie.
She was fantastic.
We just adopted a 1yo Border Collie /Cattle Dog mix. . He's smart as he'll. Think he's going to be a great dog. My Doberman isn't too impressed when he gets attention but she'll be OK 🤣
Ur the goat! Most underrated trainer out here! None of ur videos miss
Appreciate the kind words!
That’s so impressive. Love to watch smart dogs.
My mixed breed is about to turn two and bam - her Australian Shepherd just came out. We had dinner with friends at the neighborhood pub/bistro last night (walking distance), some of them drank a bit too much. On the walk home she would look around every half block to make sure we were all accounted for and no one was lagging behind - I swear she was counting us like an elementary school field trip chaperone. But we all got home safely. Last weekend a guy I have been kind of dating (creep) came over and would not leave - he thought he was joking when he asked if my dog was trying to show him to the front door - sorry bro she was literally showing you the door - nah if my dog doesn’t like you it is not going to work. 😂😂😂🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
This was a joy to watch ❤
would love to see an longer vid!
My ACD uses his nose like that to identify what he wants lol. If he needs my attention he comes up and boops my leg. He touches his nose to my hand when he comes. He uses it to indicate he wants food or water. It’s a great communication between us lol.
My potbelly pig does this
@@Theorist9 that might be the most adorable thing I’ve ever heard!
@@StayAtHomeMeme yeah hes pretty stinkin adorable. He rules the house.
omfg, a good doggo!
My parents border collie is still the smartest dog I’ve ever met. Almost creepy at times, like they are plotting and scheming at all times haha
Smart boy.
My border collie learned this so fast, was unreal.
They are smart!! Fast learners!
I grew up with 1 for 12 years roughly and man they are smart
I love aussies! They are my favorite!!!
You can't go wrong with the herding group.
I had a Border collie and an Aussie. Two is the smartest dogs I ever had. ❤
He learned how to press the food button.
Touch/target training is the first trick I train any of my dogs. It really shapes them to succeed and once they learn that they can learn almost anything! I have a border collie an she is extremely smart, she learns new trick no matter how complicated super fast ❤
May i ask why? Wondering what it's for, thanks.
It's so that if you need your dog in a certain position or get them to pay attention. It also works for things like crate training, you can just ask them to touch the target instead of pushing them in or something like that. Hope this helps :)
@@joselinemc gotcha, thanksss
Would love to watch you train him some other thing, seeing training from beginning to mastery.
He learned that quicker than I did😂
Dogs learn very quickly
I would love to live on a farm only to own a dog like that. They are amazing 🥰
Herding dogs are on pace to be smarter than humans.
I noticed that you use a clicker when training, could you do a video on why?
it marks the exact moment of the action you wanted them to take.
It's called marker training. It marks when the dog has performed the desired behavior and a reward follows.
You have been my number one trainer to assist in training our Rottweiler. She is now an absolute gem thanks to your videos. Thanks heaps mate.
Love to hear that, appreciate the support!
Wow, that was fast, you really know your stuff 😊
Oh look it’s my border collie mix. Though now he tries to get out of doing anything and throws tantrums 😂
This takes me back
Your videos have taught me a lot. I've trained a few personal dogs. But we got a Cane Corso without knowing how much of a beast he would be. Thank you, sir! He's loose leash, quick learning, and the best dog I've owned.
Keep up the good work!
Used this to teach my Keeshond to Salute, so we could both thank the people who protect our Liberty.
That was cool!
I just picked up a Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix and man is he smart. He lived his whole 1st year outside with no training and since yesterday hes learned place, sit, down and were working on stay. He gets to excited he breaks it to come give kisses and goes back. He know couincidentally has a command for kisses. My daughter has a doberman and cane corso/ gsd mix and they dont learn nearly as fast...though I think the Doberman knows she just doesnt care. Next dog will be an Aussie for sure. Id love a pack of herding breeds.
That's amazing.
I have 16 yo sheltie. We had first training for puppies when he was 5 months old. After the first adaption training he knew: sit, down, stay, concentration on the owners eyes and at home he was eating after the command. Before sheltie I had german shepards but sheltie is able to learn new commands sooo much faster . He only needed 1 or 2 reps to learn. Even the trainer was suprised and after the training for puppies, he said that my dog does not need any more training because we managed to go through the total obedience training within the training for puppies. This traning for puppies it was 2 months long (3 hours every weekend) and it was lot of fun, play and socialization with other dogs and a little bit of traning before the real obedience training. Shepards (shetland, australian and others) are smart and learn really fast
That is the coolest thing ever. Teaching the clicker training technique, to both Paris and to the viewer. Super great, and am super grateful. I need this information!!
Glad you enjoy it!
It’s so exciting when you see your dog’s progress! ❤
For sure, the most exciting!
Dang you can teach really well. Professional training definitely!
Oooh I actually taught my 5 month Lab to do that. Now he’s a bit older he will run and jump to touch!
Before I knew anything about anything that's the first thing I taught my Belgian malinois but I call it here 😅
Thank you for posting this and looking forward to more of Paris!!! He's a champion. Bet he's a smartie pants that gives y'all the finger all day long when he being muscled to compliance. His nonverbals are perfect and he'd be a dream to work with. Hope he gets a job soon. 😀
Nice job
Man, these videos are fun to watch 😃
Thank you, glad you enjoy them!
Omgoodness!! That's how to train birds too! Targeting. Love the info you share man....
Oh & course he's brilliant cause he from Australia! 😂 ❤🎉
Well done
Your a wonderful dog 🐶🐕 trainer
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Your a bad ass bro I spent alot of money learning that trick and your giving it away for free your da man

I love ASK9 ❤
Thank you, appreciate the support!
Please explain the eyes. Do both function fully?
Sir , what are your thoughts on shepsky?
oh i wanna try this
❤ wow ❤
Three cheers for Garret’s amazing sauce. Wow! Paris is sharper than the Eiffel Tower.
Wow!
My dog would have jumped off the table 2 seconds into the video.
What is this exercise used for?
Question I do have is that how would you call a puppy down if he so anxious and can’t stay still or focus on one thing I have a pup Great Dane mix with shepherd he knows the commands but he so anxious he can’t stay still
❤👍😊
Have you ever trained an Antolian Shepard?
Good work my guy I need to send my chocolate lab over there 5 years old and don’t want to work anymore just lay around

Day 6 of asking. What is your opinion on broholmers? Aka danish mastiff. I have been thinking of buying one.

@@AmericanStandardK9 Okay, thank you for your reply! 🙏🏻
@@Ivar-b5y you're welcome!
That is one high drive AS (!) - huffing because the human he is working with isn't learning fast enough for his mind. We call it free shaping, he's calling it human training...my two working AS are constantly sharing what they think is correct with huffs, grumps and air snaps while doing what they are told. When in sync, they seem like mind readers. They as soft as silk with the sheep though, really caring for the well being of them...unlike those insane border collies.

Hi, why you used the clicking sounds?
It's marker training. We mark as soon as the dog performs the desired behavior and a reward follows. We cover this in depth in our DIYK9.com courses!
@@AmericanStandardK9 I'm planning to get a Doberman puppy from the States because the UK doesn't allow cropping and docking. I'll definitely need a comprehensive course to learn how to train the puppy. I believe with your guidance and after conducting extensive research, your assistance will be invaluable 👌
Does it matter if he lunged and doesn’t mean to bite but open his mouth to grab your hand? Looked like he did a couple of times
I would love to see you make 3 reasons to own and not to own an Australian Shepherd. I would love to see you make the same videos for Dalmatians.
We have quite a few AS videos here, enjoy! www.youtube.com/@AmericanStandardK9/search?query=austrailian
@@AmericanStandardK9 Thank you!
How do you define smart? Being total what to do? So the opposite of humans?
My Aussie is not very food motivated, it's made training difficult for me, I've never trained without using food.
Our Leashed course on DIYK9.com uses leash pressure to teach obedience. Great for dogs that aren't food motivated.
I have one dog who does it perfectly. My best friend who died six months ago thiught thay he had to kiss my hand. Hed come running, looking like he'd do properly, and then stick his tongue pht at the last second. The current puppy is pretty good at it, but he sometimes believes that its good to put my hand inside his mouth instead. Weird boy.
I heard you say he/ she is the smartest dog, or did you say he/she is the smallest dog anyways I didn't quite hear that who is the smartest dog that you trained?
But will this work for a cat?
Do you have any videos with a Black mouth cur?
What's the point of this?
I hear a clicker
Yes, we use marker training with a clicker to let the dog know the moment that they've performed the desired behavior.
The treat training absolutely r u i n e d my daughter in laws dog.. its 9 now n her entire being is about treats.. never used this method.. because.. gave our pet goat treats n when it climbed up me with those hooves i said never again on treats same with horses
I can not find a training treat my Corso likes? I could use some advice... She's on a raw diet but as far as treats all she likes is her rawhides
