LOVE the theme of the deck. Stealing opponent resources is my favorite 2-for-1.
Connive is a situational big swing if you can yoink one of the opponent's mana-creatures (Kinnan, Gwenna, Selvala, etc).
I just cut Connive - too many damn Atraxas and Etalis out there
I'm so happy to see you play this again. I love this deck. And my most commonly played brawl deck is mostly a straight up copy of your Nicol bolas deck.
In regards to the comment about removal versus powering down planeswalkers:
I'd argue that Wizards doesn't actually know what it's doing with Planeswalkers as a card-type and that as cards they make enough money for the company that there isn't a need to think about them too hard from a business perspective.
The issue I have is that in terms of the actual gameplay/narratives there's no explanation for why they function the way that they do within the game.
Planeswalker cards were initially printed after the Mending, where all planeswalkers lost their godlike powers and became more like powerful wizards. Up to this point the fact that planeswalkers used to be so powerful in the stories was the reasoning for not having them as real cards, so sure, let's add them to the game in a tangible way now that they are 'humbled'
...Except they're a unique card-type with unique rules that sets them up to be anything but a legendary creature. If planeswalkers are mortal again, why are they totally unaffected by boardwipes that don't exclusively specify planeswalkers? Why do mass damage spells need to specify planeswalkers if they want to damage them? Why do emblems exist outside the game with no way to interact with them?
What are these cards supposed to be exactly, and why in the 15+ years of them being printed has there been so few attempts to actually explain why these cards work this way.
Sure, there are a few older cards (Pre-Planeswalkers) that have some mechanical interactions with them, but for the most part it feels like Planeswalkers are a bizarre half-baked concept that was never fully integrated into MtG as a game and I haven't see many instances of them trying to remedy this past the fairly recent errata about 'targeted damage redirection' from 2018.

Some of those opponents gave up pretty easily. The Dina player just needed 4 more drains to get there.

These last few sets, minus March Aftermath and LOTR, have been pretty planeswalker heavy as it has been apart of the story. It is nice to see a bit of a break from them
That equipment deck clutched defeat from the jaws of victory. That player could have attacked with colossal hammer the turn it came in. Then he should have equipped the shadowspear with the colossal hammer instead of the other equipment they used. They had some really huge missplays

For some reason, I can’t seem to shake your Saruman Esper ctrl deck from my mind. You just annihilated with that build. I’ve tried to replicate it, in Commander, but it doesn’t work quite as well as yours 😅
