Brilliant. This video took my back in time. As a child living with my parents in Dodan barrack, I remember waking up to the bang of a bomb. I made sure I saw my dad, knowing anyone could be taken out by the coup plotters. That was one of the bodiest sundays I've seen.
The potters were naive in most ways... The worst part of it was their inability to cut communication lines... Thanks for this video. My father made me study why the coup failed. I remember in the battle for Ikeja Cantonment when the mutineers ran out of ammunition. The support weapons they were expecting in a fish truck were attacked just before Ikeja which meant the mutineers did not have weapons and Bamiyi pounced on that opportunity. I also remember when Chris Garuba and Abacha entered Radio House it was rugged. Then the blowing up of the presidential quarters in Dodan Barracks you could see the clock on the wall in IBB's room. The fallout of the coup meant IBB had to rejig signals in the Army. The signal barracks in Mile 2 was later closed down. You also missed the role the Navy under the command of Aikhomu played especially NNS Aradu. IBB never trusted Abacha but after that coup, he gave some trust to Abacha. Good doesn't usually win.
Biafra I know biafra I stand ✊
Who noticed that no Igbo name was mentioned in this whole coup
Did you not hear major eche du and captain Obasi being mentioned?
Nwanchukwu
@@johnonoh59 the first coup in the history of Nigerian was from Igbo man
@@binon3716 u sound stupid
Majors Echendu and Obasi were mentioned. Major Echendu fled to the US
This was all caused by the colonial masters. They colonized us with their military men, and later gave power to Nigeria illiterate civilians.
What do you mean the 1990 coup was a third coup? It was the second i guess
Some sources claim that it was the third. Probably the second was not reported. However, I may look further into it. Thanks for watching
I'm not a Nigerian but I know the first was in 1966 against Ironsi, the second in 1975 against Gowon and then the unsuccessful one that killed Murtala in 1976
Gideon Orkar is our Prophetic Hero!
How i wish the coup was successful.
Our heroes past was totally in vain.
At least so it seems now but we can wake up and begin the change we want to see. We have another chance to be good followers by electing good leaders come 2023. Thank you for watching.
@@HispleMedia if and only our votes will ever count?
Your heroes past were criminals. All of them.
Nigeria don suffer...
Really!! But we shall overcome the forces of darkness. Thank you my bros
Y is this coup not called a Niger delta coup??
Well, Max Siollun called it so...you are free to call it so since the key planners were from the Niger delta and were fighting for the region and the Middle belt. Thanks for your feedback.
Losing the plot, I 👀
I need my own state or Republic
@@PHILLIPOJUMUDEoti looks like you liked your comment. What a shame
These men were heroes as far as I'm concerned . They saw the future . If they had succeeded nigeria wouldn't be in the turmoil its in today .
That the coup plotters wanted to implicate their members who were freed does not go well with me. I thought it should have been "one for all and all for one" kind of thing. Secondly, it was a poorly planned coup. U can't be planning a coup and leave telephone lines on in the city. They should have studied how ibb did his.
Nice story i must say. Kudos
Exactly but I find it difficult to believe that they complained about their freed co plotters but I read somewhere was that they told Babangida that he should not think he has escaped by executing them because there are more guys lurking in the corner
The country wouldnt have been in thaïs mess we are in today
Ikomo’ if I get the spelling right was already retired at then due to his disputes about Nigeria taking the IMF loan.
Aikhomo was the second in command to IBB at the time...
@@HispleMedia No he was not, he had already resign and was living in London. He never lasted more than one year in IBB regime.
@@kmoses2814 that means my source maybe wrong then... I will find out more. Thank you for bringing my attention to this. I appreciate you. ❤️
@@kmoses2814 A. A Aikhomu was an Admiral in the Nigerian Navy, who served as the de facto vice President of Nigeria under military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida from 1986 to 1993 - Wikipedia.
You may need to reconfirm your source for the above info. Thank you
@@HispleMedia my mistake it was O E Ukiwe who resigned as Vice President of IBB due to disputes of the IMF loan

Hypocrisy of the highest order.u all are hailing the coup saying it would have changed alot in Nigeria but critise other coup and label them Igbo coup...but this so called Igbo coup also citted same issues like the rest u are hailing.....
No coup would've changed naija.
When men had balls
Lol they make me want to have more balls and get into something
What a complete waste of human lives.
Poorly researched.@14.32 ,you displayed Idiagbon’s picture as Lt.Col Zidon…This is just one of several brain wracking misrepresentations in your video…
I wish you had your own channel for reference...thank you though for watching.
babangida the most wicked person i have ever seen
Your account has too many fabrications
That is because you may be a tribal bigot. Those who are uncomfortable with what we do here are bigot who have been fed with revisionist ideas. Is a pity that you went through that route earlier. Open your mind and learn the actual history here. Thanks
@@HispleMedia I like how you replied him. Those bigots are the problems of the country. They should get their emotions in check
I hv this before but TH-cam is steal promoting it... It s great though...
Pls speak louder.
Alright... Thank you for watching. I appreciate your feedback
Use Q-tip or visit an ear doctor 😂🤣😂🤣
I like this historical information but mean while research more so that we can know what happened to the Israeli soldiers (the kran tribesmen) guiding the military president as at that time.
There were no Israeli guards. The usual media rumours.

Those soldiers were heroes. I am proud of them. Their deaths are not in vain. Nigeria is suffering today because of the fanatical jihadist bastard government.
