      @@Bailey2006a
      The death certificate gives only heart failure as official cause of death.
      As you correctly stated she was of course devastated by the tragic death of her teenaged son just about one year ago and had never fully recovered from it.
      Also just a few years before her death she had one of her kidneys removed because of kidney cancer, and despite the warnings of her doctors she never stopped neither heavily drinking nor the use of drugs to push herself up in the morning nor barbiturates to find sleep.
      That misconduct might have contributed to her untimely and sudden death.
      And the suicide-death of her ex-husband and father of her son, Harry Mayen, just three years before, was also a big shock for her.
      However, absolute certainity will never be achieved as the prosecutor waived the order of an autopsy in order to protect her family.
      So it is really no exaggeration to say, she'd literally died from a broken heart and sheer emotional exhaustion.
      It was her husband and father of her son, Harry Meyen, who definitely committed suicide a few years after Romy had divorced him and after becoming depressive about it.
      Harry had played Keller in this movie.

Einfach gut!!

    One of my favorite films. True story of a sociopathic triple spy. His records were only released a decade ago. The movie was a very cleaned up edited version of the actual events. I believe that Terence Young one of the James Bond movie directors ran the sociopath as a triple agent. After the war ended Terrence reported that the ex-spy was now very rich but had no idea where the money came from. Nicholas Booth wrote what is known about this scoundrel in ZigZag. Fascinating read. Highly recommend both as unique.

    I had totally forgotten about this flick. Saw it last when I was a kid; it was probably my first impression of Nazis. Brynner and Plummer are great, as usual. But I really like Gerb Frobe (who will always be Goldfinger!) This flick is still entertaining even after all these years. Thanks for posting.

    Eddie Chapman was a london villain who worked with Frankie Fraser he was without doubt the best double agent of WW2. One thing he did was to make the Germans think that the V1s were over shooting london so they put less fuel in them and they hit Kent instead so less populated.

      @mja72 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Ul.B This was the mid 60's when Concorde was under development and just because it's missing the 'e' at the end doesn't mean it's anything other than the Concorde. As per Wikipedia: The name Concorde is from the French word concorde, which has an English equivalent, concord. Both words mean agreement, harmony, or union. The name was officially changed to Concord by Harold Macmillan in response to a perceived slight by Charles de Gaulle. At the French roll-out in Toulouse in late 1967, the British Government Minister of Technology, Tony Benn, announced that he would change the spelling back to Concorde.

    So this is what Terence Young did after THUNDERBALL. What a GREAT, GREAT movie. I couldn't stand to sit through this a 2nd time, though. Man. Christopher Plummer might have made a very "authentic" James Bond, if anyone had ever been interested in actually adapting Ian Fleming's novels as written (EON never was). Yul Brynner was incredible. The ONE actually-LIKEABLE German officer... and he comes to the same end as Timoth Dalton when he played Julius Caesar. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole story, wondering, HOW is this all going to turn out? I'd hope he got together with the Countess eventually.
