love this movie, I grew up in the area it was filmed. I felt I knew the people in this movie and recognized everywhere they were filming. I haven't been up there for a little while but it is so beautiful in montana, it was great to see that area again.

Awesome video as always, Daisuke. Certain Women is easily one of my favorite Criterion titles, I saw it for the first time about a year ago and I think of it just about every other day. The way that Montana is photographed makes it look like the most beautiful place on Earth. As a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, I truly appreciate the way that Kelly Reichardt approximates the etiquette and rhythm of life here, it rings very true and stand heads and shoulders above any other depiction I’ve seen. It is also one of the best and most thoughtful examples of indigenous representation in cinema, there has never been a character like Gladstone’s before or since. She gives probably the best female acting performance of the decade.

Superb understated performances. I feel like I had peered into these peoples lives and you are right. There is a tangible resonance that stays with you. A work of art🙌🏻
Thank you once again Daisuke for your dedication to this channel and your love of film. I just wanted to add a little footnote to the B&N 50% off sale. Target has been running a buy two get the third one free on many items including both Criterion and Arrow Films Blu ray movies. While their selection is in no way exhaustive and their regular prices higher than the 50% off prices, nevertheless when you add up the bottom line of three closely priced Blu ray movies, the savings are significant.
Fifty-two Blu rays arrive earlier today and that only represents but half of what I have ordered in the past week. Certain Women is due in later this week.

Daisuke, I was so glad to see you finally give this film a talking about in its very own video. Kelly Reichardt is an absolutely wonderful director and she stands quietly amongst the modern masters. I say quietly as unfortunately it seems as if not near as many people know about her works as they should.
I cannot wait for Old Joy in December. My wife is taking me to pick it up on release day as it falls on my birthday. Old Joy is such an extraordinary experience.
On the comment of crossing fingers for future Reichardt releases in the Criterion Collection, I just don't see it anytime soon, as at least in the U.S, her other films are all released on blu courtesy of Oscilloscope (River of Grass, Meek's Cutoff, and Wendy and Lucy), save for Night Moves which also has a blu in the U.S, so I could perhaps see that one being considered. In any event, Reichardt is a revelation and deserves to be celebrated by film lovers all around.
Here's to another wonderful video and to hopefully seeing a home video release of her newest work, First Cow, in perhaps the not too distant future.

I think you may be right in terms of the actual chances of future releases ever coming to Criterion, but you also rightly point out that many of her other works are available elsewhere, which is great.
