- This is the ultimate 10-day Little Guy Max camper solo RV camping challenge without electric, sewer, or water hookups! But little did I know there would also be UNEXPECTED WEATHER CHALLENGES! What could possibly go wrong???
Yep! Camping in a small camper trailer in bad weather can be challenging. The heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms kept coming for days and days, putting a big damper on this camping trip experiment without any hookups to help me survive!

👏 What's the longest you've camped without hookups? Let me know!

A few of these comments or replies are so negative, I can't believe folks have the nerve. I found her and her doggie lovely. 🩷🌹🐾🐾🩵
I have not camped yet without hookups. I’m in the process of getting some Lithium Batteries installed and plan on doing some camping at state forest with no hookups. I’ll let you know how it all turns out. Hoping to accomplish this no hookup camping this fall
You are a true trooper. But may I please suggest that you get the dog some wee wee pads and please clean his paws before you allow him back on your bed.
I’m so glad I found you! Thinking about getting a mini camper! Had a 30’ Winnebago I lived in w/my 2 Golden Retrievers for almost 3 yrs! Loved it!
Use small trash bags in your toilet and add kitty litter to absorb the urine and odor.
Dig a hole, do your business, and cover it up with the same dirt you dugout. Simple and easy. No need to walk a half a mile to the tiolet!
We used to tent camp & we always picked a site closed to the bathroom!
Great job on managing everything for a 10 day boondocking experience. I'm very glad to see that your Xantrex off grid power system carried you through all your power needs for the 10 days.
I’m loving my Xantrex lithium battery! The thing I've enjoyed the most is using my microwave when I don't have electric hookups. You did an excellent installation!
I always keep a rain poncho & umbrella in my car.
I stumbled on your channel when you were showing how others organized their little Max campers. This is my first video watching you and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thor is delightful. Our dogs won't go out at all if it is raining outside. Thor was a champ. Thanks for sharing your rainy experience.
@@juliebaird4156 Hi Julie! I like to mix things up on my channel to offer tips and tricks but the videos I enjoy making the most are when I can bring you along on an adventure so I really appreciate your comment! 💕
I LIVE this way every day.... no microwave, no air conditioner, no community bathroom..... been running 95 to 100 degrees daily for weeks on end.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's inspiring to see someone live life on their own terms, even in such tough conditions. Stay strong and COOL!
To have a port a potty inside for night time uses is a must. My little dog would NOT be out in that rain. Having a back up umbrella for stolls in the rain in addition to a rain jacket. Little things that I bet you don't forget to pack for your nest camping experience. THANKS for sharing.
I need to add an umbrella ☂️ to my must keep in my camper things!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Camping in the rain is cozy for a day or two. Good job sticking out a long 10 days!
I kept thinking… the rain has to stop soon! 😊
That’s commitment to figuring out how the batteries do. I also have portable solar panels so I can chase the sun. Those work well. Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about flooding up in that campground.
Portable solar panels would come in handy! As you know… this campground sits up high. If it didn't it would have flooded for sure. 🙏
Those kinds nd of plates will melt
I’m with you Randi, I like lunch food for breakfast 😋 better then breakfast food
Exactly!! Great minds think alike! 🤩
Randi, they make a potti box for dogs with astroturf. I would pùt in the tent. Or fabric potty pads...im jealous of a week of rainy weather at a campground...
I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing this with me!
Randi I watch many of your videos. Love them. What kind of dog is Thor?
Thanks for watching… I appreciate you! Thor is a rescue dog so they don’t know 100% what breed he is but they told me that they suspect Maltese and Havanese are the primary breeds.
Don’t have pretty pink tablecloths also put masculine flag or something on the trailer?
what an adventure. you’ll look back and laugh one day. 😉
i’m gonna guess that an average 8 min vid could take 7-8hrs to edit. you make great content so it has to be a pretty long editing process.
@@monicalifornia_ Hi! I was so excited to see your comment! And…. You have guessed the closest to anyone so far! 👍🤩🏆
Yup love Mexican food!!!
Where did you get your Clam and what size is it? We've been looking for something just like that! Kudos to you for staying out during all that rain!
Hi! I got my Clam tent on Amazon. I like this one because the removable sides are attached with velcro. Here is my Amazon affiliate link to this one: amzn.to/4ccNw0a
Keep an eye out for my upcoming review video of this Clam tent!
@RandisAdventures Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question and providing the link! Look forward to your review!
Is your awning broken? Can you charge your batteries by hooking up to your truck?
Yes… the awning was broke… you are so observant! We found and ordered the part and recently just fixed it. 😊
The new lithium batteries can be charged by hooking up to the truck however it would be a trickle charge so a very slow charge.
Big trash bag makes a good rain cover in emergency, maybe let the dog go in the clam when it's raining, clean up later..?
Great idea!
FYI Rain ponchos..because zippers suck!!
Ponchos!!! 💕
love mexican food…have you tried Culantro, it tastes like cilantro only better❤️😎🥰
Nope. Now I hope too!
Get a portapotty for yoursrlf
1-2 hours
6-10 hours!!! 😊
I carried him i. Tent out rain
I’m grateful I have a camper… especially in heavy rain and bad weather! 🌧️
Omg Randi u need to get an award for staying as long as you did with the rain. Ugh. I say you spend 6 to 8 hours in editing to get to an 8 min clip.
I kept thinking the rain had to stop! 🥹 I can get some videos edited in 6-8 hours but most take longer. 😊
Just curious did it stop raining the day u had to break down to come home?
Just "pee" outside.. No one around.. cop a squat!!
I would not of stayed there by myself
I am very familiar with this State Park, and I have never experienced any problems!
How miserable!
I thought it would never stop raining! 🌧️
Why is every sentence a song? 🤦🏻♀️
Interesting channel with a lot to offer. But I wish you could drop the sing song talk. It seems like a nervous habit that distracts from the good content.
Thanks for showing us this side of camping and sharing your stats.
Get a empty coffee jug with a screw on lid to use for pee. Empty it when full at the camp restroom.
To save room in your black tank don't use TP Paper; have a special bag and throw the TP paper in the bag instead of toilet you should be fine for 10 days it's just you and no one else.
Great idea!
Great advice. Toilet paper can be burn in fire pit by the day if you're like me. I can smell that, I keep my bathroom door shut. AC reasons!
We've done that for years, toilet paper NEVER in the toilet!
You are not booondocking.
2 hrs to edit. If you aren't going to use your own bathroom during a rain storm??? You honestly should use potty in Lil Guy at times like this!
I wish it took me only 2 hours! 🤣 Too make it 10 days I needed to limit my LGM potty to just the nights. 😎
Isn't your bathroom for such a time? If it were me. I would use my black tank while dark and raining and have the dog go on a potty pad. Stay dry.
I tried to use the potty only at night time. I didn't want it to over flow. 🙃
Just get compostible bags to line your toilet and absorbent material (similar to the inside a diaper) when done throw it in a trash bag and when out for a walk drop it off in dumpster. Easy peasy.
What a brilliant idea! Thanks for the great tip! 🤩
Thor needs a rain jacket
I like your table cloth 😀 the colors and pattern right up my ally. Where did you find it ?
I found it on Etsy! Here’s a link: www.etsy.com/listing/654168169/
Randi, I know with Li's you're going to be pretty self sufficient with energy.......but you just experienced you defeated yourself by having them. You were limiting your energy at the cost of being uncomfortable. I know this will hurt but the band-aid is coming off.....................Get yourself a small non politically correct gas inverter. Every couple of days you could run it for a hour or two to recharge the Li's. Energy redundancy is essential for boondocking. I have a small Champion dual fuel inverter and it rocks!
Good advice! I'm going to look into this. Thanks!!!
Cute 🐶.
He needs a rain coat. Lol
Id went peepee in that tent outside. Pour water on it when done. I keep bleach water mixed bc i have so many dogs. Not inside but out of kennels all day. The smell will get right on a warm day, i spray the mix around my tiny home. They are getting better at going farther away to hike a leg. Lol 🩷🐾🐾🩵
What editing software do you recommend
I have been using LumaFusion for years and love it!
We also have a generator you can power on to charge batteries or run your microwave. Keep it LOCKED up.
We break out long trips into starting with no hookups , then going hookups, then going to a place with no hookups, and finally another place that has them so we can do a final shower, wash clothes, and empty the sewer. It works out great! IDK who came up with "boondocking" we've called it "dry camping" for years now!
That's a brilliant way to balance things out!
Randi, you are a trooper! And Thor too! So you did have your toes in the water on this trip as well. I love the awning windows in the lLittle Guy Max. Ten days camping with Thor was enough, but the rain. Oh my gosh! Looks like your new solar and batteries work great. Thanks Randi. Safe and Fun Travels!
Yes! I got my toes in the water 💦!!!! 💃
I heard a diaper genie for your tp, saves room in your black tank. Love watching you, love to have a mini max. keep camping:) shalom!
You can also use bags in your toilet, tie it up, and put in the diaper genie. Win win
What about the temps inside and outside. Were you able to run your fan?
I brought my DeWalt portable battery fan and that kept me cool when it got hot. ♨️
2 hours to edit…am I close?
You’re about 4-6 hours off! 😁
If your in a place that has a shower and restroom there's probably a dump station close by. You can always hook, dump, then come back to your spot!
In the past I have done this many times! But, I wanted to challenge and see how far I could push the limits!
2 hours to edit 8 minute video.
6-10 hours! 😊
