It is the simple things that bring the most joy and you illustrate that beautifully, in the things you cherish. An example the little jar of star shaped pasta in your grandmas house, your birthday candle, etc . You are genuine !! And original!
Laura, you are right. Sometimes simple things are the best. This looked so good! I'm fairly certain I would never have thought to put mixed greens with my eggs on toast. Thanks!
Same here the simple pleasures in life is where it's at , when I went to visit family in Istanbul Turkey, We had fresh baked bread every morning with butter feta and olives on the side accompanied by tea .Its been years since that trip but I swear I could still smell the bread .
Perfect! I always wondered if I could just put the oil and vinegar over the salad without mixing it first. Now that I've seen you do it, I will be confident in doing so as well. One less step, one less dish to wash, awesome!
It could be that they've used something called 'Milchbrötchen' as the bread (it's a kind of bread with milk in it but not as buttery as brioche) We Germans like to eat our eggs in this style~ Thanks for sharing this one! It's always a joy to watch you. I wish you a wonderful day!
i made this but put a slice of cheddar cheese on the bread during the last few minutes in the oven. DELICIOUS! I also found that it tasted better if you replace the red wine vinegar with balsamic vinegar
Nice one! +1 for the brioche bread!! I'd make mine with creamy/moist (but not necessarily greasy) scrambled egg (one jumbo sized egg) and some applewood smoked Canadian bacon (i prefer the texture and tenderness of it compared to regular smoked bacon). And I would add some ripe, chilled, orange segments (having removed the skin/rind, seeds, and segment membranes) to the salad. I don't know about you, but I think most citrus fruits (and certain berries) pair well with dill, even in a salad.
Chop the bread up into reasonable bite sized pieces, say 6-9 chunks before putting the egg onto it. makes it much easier then struggling with the bread after you've fully plated the dish and are ready to chow down.
Had this for lunch! Saw the video in the morning and went shopping, got what I needed.. It was delicious! Only problem is that I almost finished the brioche loaf.. First time I try it.. Sooo goood.. I was craving for Panettone and this reminded me of it.. Have to make some before Christmas. :) Thank, dear! :*
Thanks for this. I share your passion for good, simple food. When you eat delicious, wholesome food like this in a healthy portion, you don't want to eat junk, n'est pas?
hi laura and joe.. i love u guys so much.. u guys are just so adorable and awesome... i just wanted to suggest if it is possible for u guys to write the measurements of salt and pepper laura adds to her recipes.. instead of to taste.. thank u guys so much..
Ok, thanks. You could also see that it didn't destroy the eggs at all, they look perfect and delicious the way Laura cooked them! I just wasn't sure about this "rumor".
Ann-Kathrin H as far as I know, if I add salt to some beaten eggs and leave them for a few minutes, the mixture becomes runnier. But I eat them anyway. Not sure if the same thing happens on sunny side egg though
Should be no bother as it's just a URL. I'd also find this really useful, as I tend to use my smartphone in the kitchen for ingredient lists - so a link straight from the TH-cam video to the recipe page within Firefox would save a couple of steps
there is a difference between what she did (salt the top of the eggs while cooking) to actually beatting your eggs with salt and then throw them in the pan to cook, that deffinitely will make them more WATERY (sort of), because the salt breaks the protein!
IMO I like how Laura does not eat more "daintily". I am really glad she always cuts into her food and shows us. It bugs me to no end when other chefs don't even show us what the food looks like cut up and plated.
If you flip them gently over very high heat you can poach them in the pan. Grilled on both sides, and as soon as you cut them the runny yolk comes out. Admittedly it takes a bit of skill, so I understand if you dont show that in your videos, because normal viewers dont have much skill.
