Man its unreal how different the levels are for each conference finals. For the West, The Mavs went into round two as injured underdogs against the number one seed who are lead by a star so many people tried to push as the real MVP. The Wolves went up against the reigning champs and the supposed best player in the world and not only took them down in 7, but also handed them the biggest beat down they ever got in the entire Jokic era. Meanwhile in the East. One of the most stacked and superpowered teams we have seen in a very long time got to beat up on the 8th seed without their best player, and then a crippled Cavs team, just to get to play a conference finals against a 6 seed, that are only in the conference finals because their own round two opponent got absolutely riddled with injuries.

As a Mavs fan I'm cautiously optimistic. Also we've seen Gobert and Conley before during that series against Utah in 2022 and did some great things defensively. But knowing us we'll lose game 1 cause we always do 🤣

They only have 3 perimeter defenders (and no Dort or Mann on this team) and if they double, Kyrie or Jones is open (or PJ). I'm VERY comfortable with this matchup. I think Kyrie is going to make a statement here now that he doesn't have to wear himself out on defense. The key is to NOT leave their shooters open. Live with Ant getting 30-35 if it means no open looks from 3 for Kat, Naz, McDaniel or Conley. The only way they can outscore the Mavs (assuming Luka doesn't hurt himself again) is to bury a bunch of 3s. Let Ant drive and meet Gafford and Lively at the rim. He'll win some, he'll lose some. If they score 100, Mavs will blow them out just like Denver did in 3, 4 & 5.
As a Wolves fan it's going to be a good series. Luka's grit will be tested, if he holds it together mentally and physically (if he gets to be 100%) we're in trouble.
Would be kind of kool for the Pacers to lose the weak in season tournament to turn around and win the one that matter, the NBA Finals.....im just glad to have new blood in these conference championships, parity in the NBA has been good the past few years
i don't think there any chance that they don't win It.... they have had the easiest Path to the finals, will be healthy and have very favorable matchups( both Dallas and Minessota defense find It tough against floor spacing teams like boston or indiana cuz Gobert and lively/gafford can't play defense on the 3pt line) + boston has the most stacked 6 man lineup i've probably ever seen... every One of those top 6 guys are all stars, were all stars in the last 2 years or are the best playoff perdomers for role players (Derrick White was nearly an all star and horford was One and Is one of the best role players in the nba rn).

I've had that same feeling all year that theyre making the same mistakes as previous years in the playoffs. Blowing late leads, getting lax late in games, tatum just not showing up. What just 2 players did to change a team at the deadline....crazy. thought they totally screwed themselves with the kyrie trade and signing, giving all their defensive presence away. Then PJ washington all of a sudden is a great defender, and gafford becomes a great lob threat and brings another defensive presence and now theyre a totally different team. I think theyre gonna take this series in 7
Sad to see Funky off the Mavs train but that's ok. Kidd may not be the best coach but he's the best coach in this series and that isn't brought up enough. He is an expert at pin pointing weaknesses in other teams lineups and exploiting them. (Josh Giddey, CP3, Pat Bev) and I expect no different this go around. Lively's pre-draft stock rose because he was hitting threes, so the potential is there, but he only took 2 threes this season and missed both. I'd be somewhat surprised if they start going to him from three at this point, and even more surprised if he hits them at a respectable rate. I was going to say "very surprised" but I did see a video of the Dallas bigs practicing threes, so they might be practicing for end of shot clock scenarios.
